    I've had my Blofeld for more than one year now, and I know I've only scratched the surface of the sounds it can make. It is possible to get lost for hours! Get's its fair share of criticism, and indeed it is not perfect, but those are minor niggles given its sound design capabilities. Keyboard version has a superb keyboard.

    I actually prefer demonstration videos like this one. Frankly, whenever someone starts doing jazzy, bluesy, R&B nonsense, noodling around like some show-off it just ruins it for me. Let us just hear the sounds without the distraction of music I would never listen to in the first place.
    Also, nothing is worse than a demo video that, come to find out, has additional outside effects through which the demonstrated instrument has been run. So that's another good feature of this video.

    I sold my Blofeld because despite several updates that claimed to have fixed that issue midi clock sync never worked. The other thing was that its sound would never really fit well in the mix with my other synthesizers so it kept collecting dust.

    wow for the longest time i was debating getting an analogue synth as a main synth. the rev 2 and the matriarch seemed like good options but for a fraction of the price i belive the blofeld covers a far wider range of sonic territory. and with the money i saved i could get something like arturia v collection to cover the analogue sound territory.

    • @sayerseely3195
      @sayerseely3195 Před 2 lety +2

      A digital synth will almost always cover a much wider sonic territory than analogue. Waldorf synths offer a special sound character that I am a fan of.

    am i crazy to be thinking of selling my nord lead 3 in favour of this? (i already own a blofeld module.) the nord interface is amazing, as are the real-time-controller-based modulation possibilities, but not sure if that's enough. i don't hate the nord sound, but i much prefer the sound of the blofeld. i could keep both, but i don't like having too much overlap in synths and the money could go towards something else (like an analogue or a hybrid).

    • @HotStrange
      @HotStrange Před 4 lety

      Keep the Blofeld Module and buy the Sledge 2.0. You can send midi CCs from the Blofeld to it to unlock hidden parameters.

  • @mostbirnen4030
    @mostbirnen4030 Před 5 měsíci

    I just don't understand why hardly anyone uses the possibility to control it with external controllers, I always have 3 pedals and 2 sliders working next to the two PW and MW, so the Blofeld really takes off when playing live!
    If it's just laziness, it costs at least a few minutes more to program them.
    The Blofeld has no reset switch,
    if you operate it with external controllers, you always have reset,
    if you are driving at the Blofeld, it will be difficult to find the original sound again.

      Not sure anything in this price range comes close to it (it's a very "Virus" sound). Maybe one of the Rolands can get near, but I don't think it will replicate that amount of organic movement. Blofeld breathes like it's alive. And sometimes annoyed.. 👀

    what is virtual analog?? is it virtual or analog?? please someone have a clear answer!

    • @SerErris
      @SerErris Před 4 lety +7

      mateoflol in the most part it is a wavetable synth. The typical analog waveforms are not generated, but stored (e.g Saw, square, triangle ...). There are some calculated as well. The later would be a virtual analog, as it generates the analog waveforms on the fly. However the blofeld also has a lot of other waveforms, that then can be process in the same ways as in a subtractive synth. It is much more versatile than a analog synth, in that way and also has much more capabilities in modulating the waveforms.
      As i wrote in the beginning, for me it is not a virtual analog, as it mostly plays stored sample as the waveforms and does not calculate them on the fly. But as I wrote as well it has even this capabilities. All the rest is fully digital in it, so the filters are not simulated circuits, but just digital calculated frequency changes. The result is actually the same, but the method is different. And also you need to like the sound, that is the main difference. This is true for any synth. If you do not like the sound, the synth is not for you, regardless of what synth it is and how expensive it might be.
