When making your body scrub, do you try to dry most of the oil that is left in these or do you leave it in? Also, do you mix it with some thing else? I am pretty excited about this one so thanks for sharing!

Heidi, here's a tip for ya... I live in Texas and our summers here are insane. This is sandal wearing season and my feet tend to get dry and crack, also, sometimes my elbows and knees can get pretty dry. I mixed 1-cup of good olive oil, to a little over 1-cup of pink Himalayan salt; mix and use on dry skin and rinse w/warm water... I tell ya, you'll LOVE the softness of your skin; this is extremely handy for dishpan hands too, again, do it when your skin is dry, apply a bit (it goes a long way) and scrub, when you rinse... beautiful and healthy skin emerges.
I sometimes use this scrub (I make a separate batch and will add an essential oil to give it that 'spa' feel/scent) in the shower and rinse... I do not have to put on any lotion/cream afterwards. For safety in the shower, keep some plain baking soda and shut the shower off and sprinkle the baking soda to 'wash off' the oils so you do not slip and fall.
I enjoy your videos and the scripture... and yes, our God is ALWAYS good.
    Shalom.

Salt is very drying, it dehydrates. Sugar is a humectant, it attracts moisture. I would not white sugar.

One thing I like to do with my spent herbs... save in a jar, use the end of pantyhose or just a thin sock, fill sock with about a 1/2 - 1 cup of spent herbs, tie a knot in it and add it to your bath water. There is still amazing beneficial oil still on the herbs. Feels like baby's skin when ya get out. Love being able to reuse things that we 'think' are spent. ;)
God Bless & Keep You & Yours!
    All my best,
    Ceci.

Hi Heidi, I made my own skincare for a number of years, still do. Just a tip to make your melting process a little easier. Add your beeswax, Shea butter and coconut butter to your pot, once those have melted then add your infused oils....that way it will precent he beeswax from floating to the surface and hardening plus it will preserve the goodness from your infused oil. Another oil I personally am very fond of adding to my formulations is apricot kernel oil. Apricot kernel is a natural sunscreen, so will pair nicely with coconut and Shea butter, plus it has mega anti ageing properties.

I just learned that Aloe gel has close to an SPF 20-30 & Carrot Seed oil has SPF 50+!!! But it's obviously not an exact science. If a super pasty white person is going to be out on a boat all day long with skin exposed (swimming) I might just grab that awful commercial stuff to avoid the burn. This is great for everyday for sure!

Another option for very dry skin if you don't want to use sandpaper - wash with a nice sugar scrub. This helps to clear off the dead skin cells so that the skin can better absorb the moisture. My good friend used to make and sell lotion and she made sugar scrub with the same scent so as to work together with the lotion/cream.

I make an infused oil with beeswax and store it in a large easy to use [wide mouth] container and then as I need it, I add the essential oils and perhaps CBD oil, heat for 30 seconds to one minute, and stir with a very thin knitting needle. That way, everything stays fresh and not overheated. I sometimes put the salve base into 4 or 8 ounce jars and then proceed as above. It's very flexible for me. My CBD oil is calendula, coconut, sometimes comfrey oil all from my garden plus the CBD oil, and I named it "Atomic Balm". And it is as named. Just great

I know many like DoTERRA but I will never again use or purchase any items that are from a Multi Level Marketing company. The reason they are expensive is because of all the middlemen that get paid. Many essential oils are edible regardless of brand, the only reason NOW foods does not claim that is because it costs a lot of money to get verified for such. Though I do not do it often, I have consumed some essential oils such as using the peppermint or orange as flavoring when making homemade chocolates. They turn out great

I followed your steps for making this salve but used calendula flowers, yarrow, plantain and comfrey. I gave some to my dad who is elderly and always falling and cutting himself. He applied it to a recent gash to his forehead and he told me that within three days the bruise was gone and the cut was totally closed. Yippy, for homemade, nontoxic healing creams.
I also made your salve without the plantain, yarrow and comfrey and dear Heidi, my skin is softer and moister than it's ever been. I've always had extremely dry skin and I love this combination of herbs and oils. Thank you for sharing and God Bless.

The essential oils you pick is the reason on how the cream works. Oils are very specific. They all have benefits but all specific benefits. You need to know what you need out of the oils for your skin needs. My skin is older so what I want is different than a 20 year old.

Hi Heidi, I’ve been making my own skincare for about 13 years now. Just a suggestion. Add about 2% of your formula hexane free castor oil. Castor oil is a natural humectant, has anti microdial properties, and is wonderful in skin creams or hair treatment formulations.

    • @RainCountryHomestead

Yes and while I do not prefer to add castor oil to my blend, I do use in conjunction with the skin cream, usually in the evenings as described in this video: czcams.com/video/wfBOPlzSujE/video.html
