I heard that before she went on stage, Charlotte found out that her husband cheated on her. Being able to go on stage and perform after such news is amazing !!

Apparently the same happened to Mary Roos in 1984. Her husband's affair even did threaten her to make it public. Quite a coincidence that her song was "Aufrecht geh'n".
Yes this is true, I have read her biography where she writes about this. This was also much written about in media here in Sweden in 2008.

My favourite entry of Sweden,of the decade and one of the most Iconic appearances ever. She is my Icon,my Idol my Queen,my Goddess!!! I hear this entry every day!!!

*That year Sweden was 12th in the Semi-final but because of the voting that year they were in the final because of the jury and they are always in high position by the jury. Tamara Todevska Vrcak and Adrian were the 10th Semi Finalists, but they didn't qualify....So sad for them not for this*
This is where i discovered Charlotte and became a HUGE fan of hers. To me, she will ALWAYS be one of the greatest performers of all time! A majestic person with a pure heart and a remarkable singer with a powerful voice! Love and respect from Greece!!!😀😃😍

Charlotte Perrelli is and always will be a Eurovision "Hero" to me. Love this and her winning song from 1999 (the year I was born!)
Take Me to Your Heaven was originally called Tusen Och En Natt (Mille et une nuits). It was in this version that she won the Swedish national selection, the Melodifestivalen. To me, the original swedish version was much much better than the english one.
@@DanTony68 For me, changing from Swedish to English did nothing, the song was still fab, but if you take for example, Carola in 2006, Evighet originally, was amazing, downgrading to Invincible just didn't seem as good, still amazing but you could tell English is not Carola's first language when she sung Invincible.
@@xenonplays_ Ok. Do you say that as a Swede yourself ? Or do you speak Swedish and stayed several times in Sweden ? I think it would be quite interesting to compare opinions of Eurofans from everywhere. To my own ears the differences are important in both cases.

She had attempted to join ESC in 2012 and also 2021. But in 2012 she didn't move on to the MF final. And in this year tho she did reach the final but only ended 8th place

The better of Charlotte's two entries, in my opinion. Whereas her winning entry was a bit too sugary and vintage for my taste, Hero is a well-written schlager song, with production not unlike that of modern pop songs of the time. Really good lyrics, and I think it should've done better.

Sweden only qualified that year thanks to the jurys vote who ranked Charlotte Perrelli 10th. Otherwise, Sweden was 12th by televoters with 54 points, behind Macedonia (64 points) and Bulgaria (56 points).
Poor Tamara was the one who placed exactly on 10th on that semi final. (But at least she took revenge 11 years later with a impressive 7th place finish in Tel Aviv) But in terms of Charlotte I love this entry rather than her winning entry dated back to the year when I was born (1999).

Please upload Turkey's 2003 performance. The song is #1 in the contest and it's surprising that it's not on the official Eurovision channel
Not surprising because the EBU doesn't own the copyright on all the songs before 2004. So, as the contest was organized by Latvia in 2003, only the Latvian national broadcaster could allow it.

I dont dislike her I love some of her songs but 2nd place Sanna Nielsen - Empty Room deserved to win back then, she was 1st in televote but the damn swedish juries gave most points to Hero because Charlotte was the most famous. Just like what happen in 2005 with Hall om mig and Las Vegas. Both Empty Room 2008 and Hall om mig 2005 could easily be top 3 but instead juries send the most famous person and they flopped hard.
If it weren't for the wildcard, Sweden would have failed to qualify to the Eurovision final for the first time in 2008. They reached 12th place in semi-final 2.
The only time they have ever failed to qualify to the final was in 2010.
