Thank you for this. My grandpa used to play this song for me on his harmonica when I was a small child, one of my core memories. He's 95 now and I'm going to see him this weekend, he doesn't know I recently started learning the violin so I think I'll surprise him, maybe convince him to break out the old harmonica and try a duet!

Tysm! It probably took me about 40-60 mins to memorise it all but im so glad that i did! This is the first proper song i have learnt on the violin (apart from twinkle twinkle little star)
is it good idea to learn to play the violin this way? i mean, maybe it is better to learn to read notes, or perhaps this could be good for me while i gain experience with the violin?
odpo I learn both. this I like to use when doing small songs, but I think its good to have a fun balance, because personally his is easier

You can play it just like it is presented here, but on viola it will be in a different key than the music you hear.

Yes, but ones that don't use the thinnest string can be played on viola in the same sound as the violin by just moving all the notes over one string to the right.

+addison Davis Sorry to hear that. Do you have a teacher? I'd like to help you, but I'd have to see you playing to be able to tell what is going wrong. If you are on a computer (not mobile device) you can slow the music down by clicking settings, then speed, then .5 or .25
