    Years of geometry, trig, algebra, calculus, diff eqns, and linear algebra, and I guess I never learned Heron's formula! How ever did I miss this? Very handy, especially in things like surveying where the triangles are usually not right triangles, the side lengths are the easiest measurements to make, and area is often the item of interest.

    The proof is nice and neat, your voice is clear and pleasant, it's just a shame that you can't read the sloppy handwriting.
    The letters are getting smaller and smaller, the dividing line is crooked, the brackets are crooked, unpleasant to watch.
    A math teacher must write in clean and clear letters.
    It could be an excellent channel, but the terrible handwriting spoils everything.
    Anyway, big LIKE👍❤️ to the effort and the nice proof. With hope that you will improve your handwriting.

    • @thezen9
      @thezen9 Před 3 lety +1

      This could have done with a better explanation, but I'm almost certain it comes from knowing the final solution.
      if you were to go through the process without s and just use (a+b+c)/2 instead you would realize the recurring value and likely assign it to a variable such as s to make it easier to read.

    • @josephmalone253

    • @thezen9
      @thezen9 Před 3 lety +1

      @@josephmalone253 In the video it's likely because it had been solved long beforehand and they likely had a proof for it on hand.
      Originally it was likely first simplified without s, and the repetition of (a+b+c)/2 was noticed and then s was defined as this value to make it cleaner and more readable/useable.
