Let’s face it, everyone thinks their town has the worst traffic in the Universe. But the truth is that this terrible situation happens in all parts of the world. Here are an example, the most traffic congested cities of the world.
10. Beijing
Beijing’s traffic problem got worse by a full eight percent in the last year. Drive time is so bad that whether its residents are traveling on highways or residential roads, they can expect an extra 40 percent extra drive time.
9. Taiwan
Though it’s only about 14,000 square miles (compared to the United States’ 3.7 square miles) Taiwan is still home to more than 23 million people. As a result, traffic freaking sucks; In Taiwan, residents incur nearly 46 percent extra travel time on average.
8. Rio de Janeiro
If you’re ever visiting Brazil’s liveliest town, don’t expect to get anywhere fast. At best, drivers can hope to encounter a mere 37 percent extra drive time when they’re on the highways (at non-peak hours).
7. Chengdu
For real, something needs to be done about China’s traffic problem, because Chengdu STILL isn’t the country’s last entry on the list. Drivers spend an average of 176 hours more than necessary stuck in traffic.
6. Istanbul
Istanbul is, the most populous (and popular) city in the country, which means that at certain times of the day, drivers can spend as much as 91 percent extra travel time in the car.
5. Bucharest
Romania’s capital city clocks in at a clean 50 percent average extra travel time for each of its citizens. Though the city has less than 2 million people, the morning and evening commutes are a real trial. During peak hours, drivers spend as much as 90 percent extra time in the car.
4. Chongqing
Chongqing really made a point of ruining its citizen’s commute in 2016. The Chinese city’s traffic problem increased 14 percent in twelve months, a metric that is way higher than any other city on this list.
3. Jakarta
Indonesia’s capital city is home to nearly ten million people and more than 26,000 miles of road. Unfortunately, it takes nearly twice as long as it should to get from one place to another in the city, thanks to the average 48 minutes of extra travel time citizens endure each day.
2. Bangkok
The traffic in Bangkok is so bad that people trying to get home or go out in the evenings can expect to face a drive time that’s more than one hundred eighteen percent longer than necessary.
1. Mexico City
Drivers now must endure an average 66 percent travel time, no matter what time of day they’re on the road. And if you have to head into traffic during rush hour, your best bet is to say a prayer and leave really, really early.
Does your city has a similar traffic issue?
Comment below!
1. Taiwan is NOT a City.. it's a Country.. Cities in Taiwan are: Taipei, New Taipei, Kaohsiung, Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Tainan, Taichung......
2. Where is Dhaka? i spend 3 hours for a 20km distance @ Dhaka
I support Taiwan is an independent country..Leave alone the neighboring aggressor..
hi, Jeffrey, are you taiwanese? is it true that 10% of taiwan supports mainland china?
@@alickak8346 But the government of Taiwan does not want independence. It wants to BE China and wants to reoccupy Beijing as the government.
Lmao it’s not even internationally recognised as a country, get your facts right
i love Tawain people there so friendly
Bogotá is the worst traffic i’ve ever experienced and i’ve been to Bangkok
Also I believe Dhaka has one of the worst traffics in the world
I am living in dhaka. I totally agree with u
Mati Deges Apparently São Paulo is among the worst.
Moscow Russia is a really congested city as well
Where is delhi, mumbai, bangalore, kolkata?
Those countries are worse than India
Sm my ques.🤷♂️
@@shivarahul-3387 but atleast they have an organized traffic not like india where people dont follow basic rules
Yeah I heard India’s traffic is really bad.
Nigeria
For those who are wondering why Bangalore is not there. The experts who came to measure Bangalore traffic is still stuck in traffic.
I would rather spend a lot more time queuing in traffic around others who practice good driving etiquette and appreciate the value of being civilised than I would otherwise.
Here in Jakarta, everyone on the road competes with each other instead of cooperating. That sort of mentality is just pitiful.
Sagacious Eagle You’re so right! I’m from Brazil, which doesn’t have the best traffic (especially in larger cities, as São Paulo and Rio), but Jakarta puts it in a whole new level. I lived in Indonesia for 2,5 years and was constantly challenged/annoyed/frustrated by the traffic dynamics in that country. Do not miss it at all!!
I've been to both Manila and Jakarta, and personally I found Jakarta worse. I think for Manila, if the roads became wider, the situation could be moderated, whereas for Jakarta, if the roads became wider, there would just be more chaos
“Top 10 most traffic congested cities in the world”
#10 - *Taiwan*
My favourite city.
Once come and see Silk board junction in Bengaluru
You will immediately change the list😂
Sure bro
Right or see our majestic area🤣
😂😂😂
In India, cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Bangalore are also full of traffic.
In Bogotá Colombia a single ride of 5 miles could take more than a hour...
It's a nice detail that you included a photo from the zincirlikuyu metrobus station to Istanbul :)
Best channel for tourists and travel enthusiasts
Haven't you heard of Philippines?
Heavy on rush hours, but not congested nor worst.
phillippines traffic is hours if three days you stuck thats traffic philippines dont have that
google first out traffic cannot be compare to others if you stuck in the traffic for three days in philippines then should be on the list
Philippines, the dark horse of the most traffic-congested countries
Not whole philippine has congested traffic, only in manila.
When there is a baseball game in my city at traffic hour, the traffic is soo bad because extra people are in the highway just to go to the game.
nice video bro, please do a video about Brazil
Johannesburg and cape town traffic is painful. it takes an hour and a half to do what should be a 20 minute journey
You certainly forgot Manila - the Philippines in general - the roads are too narrow, they are often in bad condition, zoning laws have buildings right up to the road, so often no shoulders, if there were shoulders, the numerous motorcycles are LAWLESS - lane splitting and weaving through stopped and unstopped traffic (often with children riding with their arms around their waist - unbelievable), pedestrians cross the street without looking (just holding up a hand, not checking to see if you see them).
Often intersections have no traffic lights, no stop signs, and no traffic enforcers - causing a constant traffic jam. The only way to be the first in your direction to get through is to stick your nose into oncoming traffic and hope that they stop, and people tailgate that person so they can get through as well. This can stop traffic in one direction for long periods of time, until someone makes a turn or becomes hesitant, and then the other direction takes advantage and does the same thing. Often tailgating the lawless motorcycles is the only way for a car to get through. People stop traffic in both directions performing U-turns and K-turns on the narrow streets. If you are in a small parking lot at the side of the road, good luck getting out. Sometimes people with no other job hang out at parking lots, and when someone tries to get out, they walk into the traffic to stop it so you can get out, and they expect a tip for their service. If there is somewhere with worse traffic than this - bring it on. The general philosophy of a Filipino driver is "I want what I want, and screw you."
Jeepneys (inexpensive public transportation) stop at a moment's notice to pick someone up or lets someone off wherever - no predictable bus stops, often in the middle of the road, and often in a middle travel lane, with passengers crossing moving traffic to get in and out.
Driving standard transmission is quite frustrating, because of all the obstacles, you rarely get out of third gear. There are expressways where traffic is predictable, but not enough.
I love just about everything else about living here, but the roads and the traffic are unbelievably bad. I used to like driving - now it just causes anxiety. I do not want to be on the other side of a motorcycle accident because his or her life was not as important as their getting in front of me.
I am from Vietnam and I like Philippin
I can't imagine how often they have to spend getting gas or how many gas stations they have.
I'm surprised metro manila is not on this list the traffic there must be improving if that's the case
its because we have public transports, jeepney, bus, mrt, lrt sea transport, taxi,if all people in metro manila ride cars ah we have problem
Atlanta can get pretty bad sometimes
My brother said 6am traffic in Jakarta is infinatly worse than rush hour traffic in London(uk), wow !
Lanzhou in Gansu province, China, was the worse traffic I've ever seen back in 2016. That coincided with a subway building program with 1/2 the streets dug up.
I thought my LA traffic was bad. I’d take LA traffic anytime over these.
The București traffic is always busy especially at Piața Victoriei, always traffic day and night. No wonder is the Europe's top three congested area in Europe.
Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Roughly 380 hours in traffic every year. Home of the notorious HWY-401, North Americas biggest and most congested highway; a 16 lane ''basket weave'' express-collectors layout and carries an average of half a million people per day to and from Toronto's neighbouring city, Mississauga (5th largest city in Canada), and an endless sea of suburbs that stretch right across the entire Golden Horseshoe then towards Detroit. It is the only highway joining the A-20 in Québec and the Ambassador Bridge in Detroit with Toronto, North Americas 5th biggest city, smack in the centre, so there is a constant large volume of transport trucks at all times. One of North America's longest average daily commute times.
yeah toronto traffic sucks
401 being so wide is still horrible, one other thing to add is that the don valley parkway and gardiner expressway, though closer to downton are 3 lanes either direction.
Looking at the level of traffic shown in the video, Lagos, Nigeria traffic looks like child play.
I can confirm the congestion from Bucharest on peek hours 10 km can take 2 hours. I really can t imagine a more congested city than this but i guess IT can be worst.
Goddamn
There are different reasons that causing bad traffic
1- the number of population is really high
2- the roads are really bad
Johannesburg, South Africa is missing on this list😔
I feel privileged so for where I live. I often give out when my commute across the city from work takes me 30-40 minutes and not 20 minutes.
Im from Istanbul and the longest time i was in the traffic jam was over 8h ...
Nereden nereye gittin??!
WOW!!!! There's no Manila HAHAHAHA jokeee but it's good that the traffic in Manila is lessining HAHAHA
It's not a joke. Your Manila traffic is nothing compared to other cities. You need to broaden your knowledge not only knowing about pinoy.
Have you ever traveled to another country?
Yes Manila has bad traffic like many other big cities in the world but you can't compare it to some other cities
WHERE IS DHAKA ?!?
@@sbaurora2216 dhaka
@@sbaurora2216 that's actually good Philippines is not here
Yes there’s a lot of traffic around where I live
Dhaka, Bangladesh has similar traffic issues in this 10 cities on the list
I'm from Jakarta and the traffic is horrifying I usually take like 30 min to go to my grandmas house but it took 2 hours :(
Wow Atlanta’s not on here😂😂
Toronto Canada is home to North America’s busiest highway. Should be on the list
it has the hwy 401 which is the busiest.. But the whole city traffic isn't that bad!! From where I came to Canada ( Bangalor,India) It rly has a lot of traffic, but it isn't listed here though!!
Hate those car manufactures. I rather use bicycle.
Private vehicle ownership has diminishing returns on utility as the car population increases. Need more public transport options like metro systems.
Bangkok is possible to worst traffic by 97-114%
You are missing Bogota- Colombia, the city with the worst traffic in the entire world, people spend around 300 hours yearly in traffic
What about Cairo Egypt? I'm not Egyptian but I've seen videos and it's a mess.
Same as within the mile and block with 1 car empty space apart or less in peak hour or bad weather from 0 mile - post speed or above post speed. That lead to ineffective speed lead road way over crowded. The main road drivers screw up the running lane or lanes.
I’m in Bangkok taking a taxi, and the traffic really sucks, OMG
I live in Belgium, so yes, our conditions are like this.
It was a lot more traffic than I was expecting
You said cities - so what's Taiwan doing here?
Yes no Manila.. congrats Philippines
Maliit pa ang trrafic pinas kumpara sa ibang bansa
Istanbul was soooo hard to drive
It is like you have not heard about Lagos before
Dont forget Kuala Lumpur. Im from the Philippines and the traffic in Kuala Lumpur is horrible.
Nope, traffic in KL just normal not really horrilbe than other ASEAN country. For me 1.bangkok 2.manila 3.jakarta 4.ho chi minh.
Cairo also should be in this list, I’ve been there once and traffic there was...omg 😐
Yes..
Every 5:00 in Arkansas the inter com traffic gets real big. =p
I don´t know how does Bogotá do to get rid of appearing in this list.
fiji too has too much traffic
In the capital city of Manila in the Philippines. Traffic is more worse than Mexico City that going to the airport from my house takes 2-3 hrs.
I'm surprised to not see Brussels here.
No laws and no orders direct the dumbbell to keep more room apart from 0 mile to local post or interstate post.
Come to lagos and see the worst of traffic, 1hr for a 3km journey
#1 My hometown Lakeland Florida!
Route 8 in ohio between akron and stow is garbage. Always dead stop traffic during rush hours
0:03 except my town lol 😂 there has never been a jam in my town cuz it legit has 2,000 people
Please do a vid of what not to do in LITHUANIA please I'm your biggest fan
Same in the US. That what I knew. We need to have more camera and more electronic sign to direct speed high and low for keep apart. For people change lane and people merging and who can move or who must wait on major road hwy as all of them gridlock traffic in our country.
Woah Los Angeles is not on the list :/
Fir cities and town. Jone 25, 35, 45, 125ft, 135ft, 145ft. In peak hour rain and snow. Keep more apart. Or make jam and slam.
Please make a video about Slovakia is a beautiful landscape.
İstanbul traffic is why i got an automatic E46
Where is banglore? It has the highest traffic in the world ,drivers spend more than 256 hours in their car in a year struck in traffic.
Bro u miss Cairo /Los Angeles /Mumbai /nyc/ Tokyo
U need to add Dhaka, Bangladesh
where is edsa road in the philippines? it consumes 200% time before you can go to point A from point B.
Surprisingly one time i passed by edsa noon time from Magallanes to Caloocan i didn't experience bad traffic it is flowing traveling 20km/hr at the min (its a week dat not Sunday) .... So after learning that, I make sue that if my way is edsa it must be at 12noon.
im from beijing and once a Uber driver complained State college PA ‘s crazy congestion lmao
That's funny.. 😆 Quant little State College (42K) vs. Beijing (over 22 Million) .. Wonder if he gave up his Uber career? 😅
@@bearpawz_ once he got a Uber job here in Beijing he might regret quitting such a easy job in PA
Do you know what is Dhaka?
*1 - Bangladesh*
*2 - Bangkok*
*3 - Mexsiko city*
*4 - Manila*
*5 - India*
Bangladesh and India are not cities. They are countries
I live in Jakarta
What about Moscow, Dhaka, and Antwerp?
This seems old. Where is bengluru?
where is saigon vietnam
World wide or at home tailgate for stop or slow or post speed drive that caused the problems congested.
Bengaluru, karnataka, India, world's most traffic city by 75% worst traffic.
One city that was missing is mysuru, India I visited there and I was in so much traffic we had to walk to a hotel for the night
As they tailgate they run out of room for people change lane as well as for merging. Therefore they do not have more room to move in the same lane that caused them jam and congested from parking speed they lost local speed and as well as interstate hwy speed
Banglore,Pune,Mumbai,Delhi r in the list now as per new survey
Is this something to be proud of?😂😂😂
Why no Cairo, Delhi or LA they got way worse traffic than some of the cities in the list
noone can beat Dhaka's traffic.
Any city in Bangladesh or India has really bad traffic.
agree
Nothing that Road Diets, Trams, Metros, Trolleybuses, bike lanes, Pedstriation, BRT's and even High Speed Rails can solve. Don't count add another lane as induced demand is why this list even exists.
Or even 10 lanes or 100 lanes
Where is Dhaka, Bangladesh?
How did ya forget Nyc
Oh I love EDSA "so much". Folks try to go to the Philippines and also don't forget to travel to EDSA hahahhahahahah
this narrator is a nitwit
Lack of yield make jam traffic or congestion
Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, roads of these cities are buisier than all these cities in the list
Left Bangalore
@@kushgamer2220 yes bengaluru too is very crowed and busier same as mumbai delhi etc
I hate Bengaluru traffic
Hyderabad traffic also
The 500ft apart now less than 5ft apart that caused congested
Look at Istanbul D 100
E80 / E 5
Highway
You can add epza angeles city😂😂
Where is dhaka man?
where is the moscow?
Ai what form of fractal is this ?
I was so confident that Dhaka will be on top. The content creator doesn’t have the knowledge he required to make a video on this matter. I am from Dhaka, Bangladesh 🇧🇩. It takes 3 hours to travel 15 km here. Sometimes you have to stay at the same place for 2 hours due to traffic jam.
Agree
Thanks God Dhaka is not there
It was in the jam 🤣
They did choose not to yield for other driver to change lane or merging or move same direction alone by more room apart or alone as slow or alone on stop. The tailgate the bumper bumper and bumper traffic. That the problems
