Nice simple rig. The arrangement of the cut on that sail seems to be excellent as there is not much twist on that sail due to the ingenious cut and reinforcements at the right places. Congratulations.

Great Vid, yes a little bigger then a Hobie sail, I've Added a DIY Furl device, it's great for sailing my Revo13 without AMA's, but in strong winds I will always furl some of the sail in, and especially if changing for Leeward to windward I'll furl the sail right in to ease the snap-in direction, love the idea of the skegs, thanks for sharing

Looks great in video, I have made my own sail from a cut down Sail Board Sail but i have no way of puling the sail down, my kayak is an Hobie Outback,i use the in board paddles as a keel and have a longer rudder.Pulling the sail down and up is no go yours is great.

Please share more about the lee skeg setup...I'm working with Nolan here in Houston, TX and will be buying a 3m sail from him soon. I'm running on a Hobie PA14. Thank you.

Hi Roy, if you have the newer PA which has a drop down skeg it works a charm. The lee skegs basically let you handle more power without overwhelming the rudder and so produce less drag. For real efficiency a lee board would work better by being closer to the center of effort but this Outback I was using was not mine so the retro fit worked by plugging into the fishing rod holders.

@@billpain Mine is a 2011, has the old style seat too. I am getting a 3M Giant from Nolan, so can't wait to try it out.

billpain I have a PA12 2017, it is not the newer one but it has a drop down skeg. Do you think your sail will work ok with it?
