- We enjoyed our day at Northampton on Saturday with Kevin West and the members of Northampton S of M.E. thanks guys for your warm welcome.
Sadly other B/Lowke/Greenly owners don't want or cannot come to join in.
Many thanks Kevin for your work advertising this event plus all the work in arranging it.. We were disappointed so what you must be feeling!
What a lovely facility NM&EE have!
I'm officially fascinated by that dual gauge turntable. Of course, on Google Earth it's hidden beneath the leafy canopy.
Nice location but the trees can be a pain when they drop their leaves, big job clearing them Howard. Regards Chris.
I am sorry, but in Norwich, I had no idea of this event? My Gran used to take us to look into the showroom off Gold Street, bus from Greenfield Road (414) into town past St Matthew’s (Henry Moore Bronze) We would go to Lions for a Rumbaba and cup of tea! Then into All Saints, Granddad was a sideman there after retiring from the Colonial Police Force, Palestine, Tripoli and finally, Cyprus. I remember we were taken to Rugby on the last steam service out of Castle Station…if only we could get those days back ? Thanks for posting, I’ve subscribed so WILL attend the next event!
Hi Kevan. Great memories. Hopefully they will run it another year. Thank you for subscribing, have a look at some other events we attend. Regards Chris
Chris you are so close to 10k subscriptions! You will deserve them and
OF COURSE
you deserve the subscribers (that) you have currently.
Keep hydrated and the shade is a friend.

Thank you so much Mark! We keep trying but it is slow going.
A great record of the day. Thanks for coming. We will probably do it again in 2026.
Hope i'm still around for that Kevin. Third time lucky for a massive turn out, roll on 2026, always a good day with you all. Best regards Chris and Rosie.
I hope you do Kevin. My tube failure was such bad timing this year but I'll have her ready by 2026!
The Scot is looking in fine fettle Chris, good to see you both enjoying your visit, albeit quieter than expected....Regards...Bob
Running well Bob, we enjoyed the day at Northampton, nice long run..Best wishes Chris and Rosie.
Awr, it's like the whole gang's here!
It’s such a shame about the low turn out. All the effort people put into organising something and owners don’t turn up.
We totally agree. All the Scots plus other B/L Loco's around the UK and we get two turn up on the ground level and one on the raised. Nice to see the Gauge 2 running though.
A nice bit of driving from Rosie! Thank you for taking the time to video it for us 🚂
Glad you enjoyed it. While I'm filming Rosie gets some good driving time. She loves that.. We enjoyed our day with you, many thanks.
Brilliant video
Thank you.
Such a shame about the low turn out. We too have just had an unusually quiet weekend as part of the Tees Cottage Miniature Railway support for the Tees Cottage Pumping Station open weekend. I hope it improves for the Sweet Pea rally in Leyland in a fortnight.
Sorry to hear that. When we visited Tees Cottage it was a very busy day/weekend for you.
@@wooltman yes I remember your visit. I was the long haired Scotsman you spoke to.
Good one Chris , and sunshine with it
Thanks Dave. Yes one of the few days we have had a sunny day this year.
Turn left from Boots corner into Gold street and there was a lane leading down to the brewery parallel with bridge street and basset loake was on the right hand side. showroom onto Gold street. Avery scales company was at the bottom of this lane. The brewery in those days was northampton brewery before carlsburg moved in. Yorks travel at a depot by the nene bridge and the cattle market was in victoria prom. Northampton lnwr station at far cotton was still there and the bedford station at the bottom of Guildhall road though disused made way for a car park. i was born in the Barratt nursing home and we lived in winchester road till moving to Mears Ashby. Derngate bus station was my mecca for buses and coaches as was the works at Midsummer meadow and Avon cosmetics moved in opposite. Dad was a power station freak and enjoyed the steamers there just up the road from the abbey. caroline
Are these directions in these days or days past?
I was born in 1956 and we moved away in 1977. caroline
!Great video. Like me!
Thanks for liking.
hi there. remember the basset loake show rooms just off Gold street. caroline
Although I was born in Northampton I cannot remember the shop but my dad told me about it many times.
I lost my train of thought. I'm trying to express myself but just can't come up with the goods. 😂
You must express yourself better before your shunted onto a platform of new coaching stock. you could hit the buffers. LOL!
Now that's a Unit of a tank engine
She is lovely.
Still got my Prince Charles my wife got me for Christmas 1959 cost her £5
Worth a bit more nowTony.
