Whenever I stumble across one of those "best guitar solo ever" and "best guitar player" videos I return here to make sure it´s still there. Zappa wasn´t the best guitar player of his time, (and he never claimed to be) but he knew how to play a fucking solo that beats the hell out of every "best solo ever" video on youtube. The man was totally underrated as a guitarist, if someone asks me.
He was "one of the best" for his entire time on Earth. Nobody could improvise such an onslaught of rippin' notes hammered into your skull until your head exploded like FZ. Then came EVH, but he would rip the same onslaught of notes the same way every night. With Frank, you never knew what Frank was going to do. Pure musical improvisational emoting and constantly exploring new territories.
Every lick followed the previous lick of perfection with the only note that belonged in the exact place it was played and no other note would deliver the punch like the one he played.... Solo extremest. he never played a note in the wrong place...R.I.P. Frank Zappa.
At a soloshow I ask him and he answered: No coffee, no alcohol, no drugs, but healthy lifestyle with good food! Later he add a lot of power supplements, so he wrote on his website!
Thanks. I'm not as familiar with Zappa's music as I am Hendrix's, but surely Hendrix influenced the hell out of Frank. After reading your comment I googled some 1965 era Mothers and wondered to myself why Clapton was hailed so mightily when Zappa was better than him even back then. @@mirarstudios
Yes, it sounds totally wild... but every damn note is scored, and Mr Zappa knows and loves each and every one of them personally and he will be VERY ANGRY if you improvise and don't play the music exactly the way it's written down. Ooh, this must've been a scary band to be in... But man, what a rush! :-)
Zappa´s solo is improvised...as usual. The rest of the band plays exactly what they´ve been told to play. He was a dictator alright, but he also knew how to bring out a musician ´s full potential. Pretty much everyone who worked with him, was thankful for that. And he had a radar for great talents. Not sure, if anyone today knew Adrian Belew, Bozzio or Vai without FZ.
About this song i had absolutely the same question, amazing moment. But i think its like light phaser after low fuzz or fuzzy od. On my amp its sounds close, but need a time to find this option. And of course its playing style. But i love this sound
Greatest is a matter of taste....but I'd like hear the guitarist who can top Frank. His guitar playing was as nasty and acerbic as his wit and wisdom..........He could do it all...........
why is Bozzio acting so weird , every time you see a missing persons video , the dude is solemn and almost comatose..... all an act. super cringe mode.

Listen to what Steve Vai says about Zappa how complicated he actually was a guitairst

I'll take a Zappa solo over a shredder any day. This one's awesome

100%, Spot on. His energy is uncopyable!
Probably one of my favourite Zappa performances ever! The entire band just seems to be having so much damn fun.
To me this was HIS best band ever.
I was there , Halloween in New York City never the same. Breaks my heart.
what year was this?
@@jamescastillo2405 I wasn't there, but I believe this is 1977
Terry's monster on drums!!!!
if you know the amount of talent in that group with zappa, they are and will always be magical.
The kick drum work in this makes it so powerful. Also, the line Zappa used to start his sólo might be my favorite of all time.
Top job lads. As a stage manager I spent a whole day backstage with Terry. Awesome human!!
Terry Bozzio = Animal from 'The Muppets'
Killer groove and some blistering Zappa and Bozz jam. Timeless in my humble! Peace.
I wonder what the carers in the nursing home will be thinking when I blast this from my iPhone.
Bozzio has the greatest Animal impression of all time
I Love You Punky! Hee Hee! Wow, what a song…what a band. Zappa and The Boys at their most entertaining!
The best drummer in the World , amazing terri.
I wish that I could upvote this 500 times.
My GOD!! (Mr:Bozzio)
This is Frank Zappa!!!
The amazing thing is just seeing how far bozzios technique has evolved.
Terry is a drum set performance artist, beyond mere drummer for sure.
This is so insane Freaking Good tune and it have been one of my big time favorite on youtube for over 8 years now :)
It never ceases to amaze.
Ça c'est du rock'n'roll !!!!!
Absolutely F**cking Marvelous!
Any one else got the suspicion that this is the template for the muppet show's drummer.
If any Drummer resembles the Animal from the Muppets in human form it was Bozzio with Zappa.
That was fantastic !
J’ai vu zappa play zappa with Terry bozzio and Steve vai incroyable.
Adrian belew, terry bozzio, fantastic
Was the best guitar player of all time.
That's Zappa and Adrian Belew on guitars
Oh really, I would have never guessed.
Thank you, captain obvious… 🤷🏻♂️
Hey, guys, no need to be so mean.
Adrian == GOAT!
If you played for Frank, you became famous......
Avoid Terry`s coffee
At a soloshow I ask him and he answered: No coffee, no alcohol, no drugs, but healthy lifestyle with good food!
Later he add a lot of power supplements, so he wrote on his website!
im only recently discovering this, and i havent been able to get enough
Belew looks like he's dressed for David Bowie's band.
Zappa sounds here as if he picked up exactly where Hendrix left off.
Zappa introduced Hendrix to the Wawa peddle... They were contemporaneous

This would be crazy on the heavy acid of the 70s

They make it look way too easy here. Epic

AMAZING
check out mick tucker from top glam rock band the sweet, the man with the golden arm. totally underrated drummer
Mick Tucker was one of the most cruel and absolute metronomic drummers EVER, Terry Bozzio is fantastic , but Mick Tucker was a brain surgeon.
His vocals remind me of Paul DiAnno
Glorious :)
Wahh@!!

For a song about (iirc) accidentally finding a picture of a dude hot and making a joke out of it this song goes obscenely hard.
por favor, qual o nome dessa musica?
2:38 How did he do that? My brain cant process this
Most likely a unison bend on the high E and B string, or perhaps on the G and B strings
do what?

Little skinny terry bozzio really beats that kit like a drunk southern widow might get beat
Uuuuuu grodie
This is so much more heavy than any heavy metal. Young people just need to go home and practice. Practice a lot.

I can smell the late 70s through the monitor and it smells of moldy shag carpet, cigarettes and sweaty mustaches.
You just can't do this on the stage anymore. I mean, no one does this on the stage anymore.
Zappa is shirtless, Bozzio is in black underpants, Belew is in a dress. wtf?
Those were the days eh? :)
why is Bozzio acting so weird , every time you see a missing persons video , the dude is solemn and almost comatose..... all an act. super cringe mode.
what is the name of this song?
Bozzio is insane. Can't stand the guy.
I like zappa music , but this video make me so disgusting, and i don't know why Bozzio spit at the end. Make me feel sick Disgusting disgusting
It’s sad how he went from this to playing the way he did in Missing Persons. He let a hot piece of ass waste his talent.
i understand where you're coming from. i do love early missing persons.
Sounds like a bunch of fucking noise
to me, man.
