  • After a long tedious visa application process, I made it to Nauru. But I was also curious about it's very own airline, Nauru Airlines.

    In Nauru you wake up in the morning, go to the bakery to have a coffee and you have already walked half the country;

    Nauru is a place full of beautiful people. I have been fortunate in my life to have visited there. Not many people can do so, one experience I cherish.

    A tiny island nation offers and airline that flies from Tarawa to Yaren in approximately one hour. They offer their passengers food.
    Here in the US, you can fly from New York City to LAX and you will get a mini pretzel bag and a soda.
    Unreal!

    737-300 working hard! With former interior of Air New Zealand seats...4:30 flight hours range. Well, the instal of winglets is a good option for saving fuel and more range.

    Flew Nauru Airlines in one of their many iterations “Air Nauru” many years ago. Incredible the big 737 planes flew like with only 5% pax capacity. Had huge transpacific network all subsidised by the country’s phosphate royalties. Unfortunately they squandered their great wealth and Air Nauru went bust. It was a vanity project to show off the phosphate wealth...indeed when they had an Aussie crew they wete very nice, but the local crew was totally indifferent

      it was sad how much potential they had. Back then they had the second highest gdp per capita in the world. They built luxury skyscrapers in new zealand, australia, usa, uk, etc and hotels but they got screwed over and taken advantage of. They couldve been to good with all that money

      ‘Our Airline’ I believe became Nauru Airlines! They just have much more modern marketing and “infrastructure” if that makes sense.

  • @arkanaarla4246

    i like Nauru is an richest country because of the fosfat mine but that all change when fosfat became more and more thin but a long time Nauru is the richest country

    • @forme3h
      @forme3h Před 3 lety +1

      You meant phosphate? Well it used to be the richest but now, it’s a different story. Their old government was very corrupts and greed played a major role in those days within the government leaders. Why I know? Easy, the people of Nauru told me themselves. 🤷🏼‍♀️

    2:03 - what is that spray for?

    • @aperezvoyages
      @aperezvoyages  Před 4 lety +3

      I believe it's to kill any unwanted species that could be carried onto Nauru and destroy native flora and fauna or even wildlife though seemingly lack thereof. It's what was done when I arrived in Sydney from Hawai'i also. Just a preventative !

    • @aperezvoyages
      @aperezvoyages  Před 4 lety +2

      +Go Travel On The Cheap the flight times and work days seem long and brutal. And all the stops from beginning to end probably make work exhausting. I think they were spraying something to kill any insects or eggs that may have been brought in that could destroy flora and fauna on Nauru!

    WTF why they have this HUGE airplane for such a small country

    • @aperezvoyages
      @aperezvoyages  Před rokem +2

      Because that airline has a roundtrip route as such: Australia, Solomon Islands, Nauru, Kiribati, Marshall Islands & I think Pohnpei then back. Plenty of stops for a large airline. I believe they have a Fiji route with half of the same stops
