Thanks, Morgan, for sharing the ride! Most guys don’t have trails that great to enjoy. I like 13/48 gearing for the steeps with my 2024 TE 300. It lets me use second and third, and either clutch or downshift for first if absolutely necessary. This makes the bike smoother, easier to manage the contact patch, less tiring, and less panic shifting.
What a great place to ride, excellent vid! Doesn't surprise me your son rode the trail, he's a great rider. That kid can get it!!! If you go back just one year watching his rides on video his improvement is night and day difference.
Very true!
Morgan, your bike sounds like it is running oh so sweet. That TSP tune with high compression head insert.
🎶 to my 👂
Been a while since I rode that trail. Can't imagine it with all the rain the past week. Good stuff!
Fun trails. It does look a lot like the trails around central Washington. Pine trees, rocks and roots! If your ever near Wenatchee, I'd enjoy taking you on the "Devil's Backbone" trail.
Thanks so much
2024 300XC / TX300 all day ! 👍
Top notch!
Looks like a ton of fun on that trail. 😀👍🇺🇸
👍👍 for all your hard work.
Thanks
Great stuff!!!
Thanks Dave! I emailed you about our little project. Hehehe pew pew pew
That trail looks a lot like the trails we have here in the pacific north west, it was fun watching you ride, thank you.
🤘🏻🤘🏻
man you guys are so lucky to have trails like this!
Agree
Right on... Gotta try this one.😮
You should!
Live in Fruita so very possible. Thanks 👍
That trail looks so fun need to hit that one day another to the list
It is epic
Great riding as always
Thanks
Gotta love them mountain switchbacks
Oh yeah!
Went out and did Alpine trail. What a blast and a TON of switchbacks.
Oh yeah
Some of those switch backs look tricky love the look of that trail👍
They are. Super tight!
Man I could watch this for hours
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
And thanks for your channel bro if you ever travel to the Portland area you have a place to hang
I am most impressed at how well the engine runs on your bike. No sputter or nothing!! Just smooth power. These KTM's have one a long way in how well they run.
It is beyond incredible
Why did you switch to TSP from RK? Thanks
Awesome trail, looks like a lot of fun! Yes, stock final gearing on the 2024 300 XC-W is 13/45, which I think is too tall for slower speed, more technical trails. I'm running 13/50 on my 2024, which feels good, or if you want to keep the 45 rear try a 12 front sprocket...
Right on!
Any thoughts on the Beta 300 racing vs KTM XCW since you've ridden both? Especially the KYB vs KTM suspension.
Depends on what you want to do more. The KYB is better at going fast
Intro song change??
When you ben there? Looks very nice trail… never been there
Oh i found it… i ll be camping owl creek whole weekend… i ll go there for sure
Thinking about getting a 24 xcw (because of the oil injection) but want the power of the SX/XC.. would a simple cylinder & head change get me to where I wan to be?
Yes.
Have you updated to the latest firmware? I heard the june or july firmware has completely eliminated the spooge from the exhaust and cleaned up the throttle response especially low to mid.
I did but now I have the TSP tune and high comp head. It is much better than stock
love all your vids brother! what brake spring are you referring too and how does it help? Thanks Jason.
It is the S3 brake spring. It basically makes it much harder to depress the brake which makes it so you can actually feel the brake before its is locked. So good. Here is a link bit.ly/2fRpJ0w
@@highlandcycles Keep in mind these guys (1st Track Motorsports) are in Canada, I ordered the S3 brake spring and paid like $55. You can get them much cheaper in the US, buy it in the USA and you don't have to pay all the shipping costs, just FYI.
@@onthethrottle7104 but with our discount code the shipping is free I believe. Not just the link. You have to enter the highland cycles code too
@@onthethrottle7104 there may be a threshold for the free freight but I’ll check
@@highlandcycles Thanks so much for the reply and info. Wow, that's a "Game Changer" 😂 count me in!!
Morgan, what headlight are you running on your bike? Aldo will it plug in to my 23 XCF?
Moto minded Evo and you’d need a harness from True North Motos
@highlandcycles i just bought a 2024 ktm 300 xcw and im 5'7" the bike is really tall for me. If i lower the suspension will it ruin the way it handles and will i lose suspension travel? I want to do single track but not being able to touch very well has made me weary
If you do it right it will be ok
Riding in that rocky condition, how should the suspension be acting? Like go soft on rebound and compression?
Yes, you want lots of movement from the suspension
Morgan, for your riding what would you pick: Complete stock XC or Stock XCW???? i rode both, have XC300tbi and am unsure
XC for me. I like the power
Hey mi bro. I just got an XC 300 model 2024, a beast of a bike. Suspension is great. The only thing im worried about is the fuel economy, its not very good.. Can something be done about it? Besides buying the big tank
No. They burn a ton of gas
👍👍
Does the XCW have the TSP mod yet?! 🤫 I’m patiently waiting
Soon
I’m picking up a 24 300XC-W now. Does a 2023 FMF spark arrestor fit the 2024? Wasn’t sure if mounts are different. A Quick Look around and I’m not seeing too many available SA at the moment. Seems a few weeks out to order for 24? I could be way wrong haha. Thanks!
I would get then Spanish Fly Racing SA. It’s the best
@@highlandcycles Much appreciated!
That bike @4:15 was there when we rode through on August 10th. What day was this video'd?
Last weekend. 27th-ish
I guess the honda is part of the trail now! I can't imagine what it'd take to push it out. Great video! Thanks for posting it.
Is this open after Labor Day? I read that it closes to dirt bikes after then?
Nate and lou close after labor day but alpine is open til it snows too much
Your 300tbi sounds and rides like a different machine than mine. Mine is very snappy, very stiff, and hard to handle in rocks and roots (no surprise there really). My lap times are better on my old 250xc-w, even after riding the new 300 for a year. I heard you mention you redid you're suspension, but how in the world is yours so docile sounding with a high compression head?
It’s the tune on the ECU
If you were looking at buying a trail bike and was DIY minded and wanted to wrench on the bike yourself, Would you buy a 22-23 KTM TPI bike or wait and buy a TBI? or would you invest in a carb bike?
If you really want to be able to do everything on it I would get a carbed bike. Stay far away from TPI
@highlandcycles my tpi has been a great bike. What's your reason to stay away?
@@aaronphillips2728 not everyone know how to warm them up and I have seen a ton of ruined cylinders
So if you were standing in the showroom looking at a 23 300xc and a 24 300cx-w which would you purchase? The 23's have a huge rebate but the 24 is the latest and greatest. Just sold my 17 TC250 yesterday so its time to buy
23
How do you find the rebate?
What's that rear brake thing again?
S3 racing spring It on here bit.ly/2fRpJ0w
I ll buy it
How many hours are on your Ktm?
135
Morgan lets goooooooooo😂
That turn, when you ran into the solo guy on a older Kawi, looked sketchy: Tree roots, ledges to fall off, steeper trail...yikes.
That is the hardest move on the whole thing
I do like seeing Sheetsy poo standing all the time, has to be in good physical shape.
He is.
Easy to run up on a Bear, be careful guys .
That’s not true Morgan. If you come east of the mountains you’ll find every form of to rain that you can think of.
What are you talking about? form of to rain? Yes it does rain everywhere?
Slavens has a point, but it's on the top of his head!
