Hi Fiona congratulations with your cuttings 👍👍, happy belated birthday wishes and the hori hori are brilliant have two as val wanted her own , I used to monitor my compost and spend so much time watching it lol, nice garlic you have there. Keep safe Bill and val
I’m really pleased the cuttings have taken, dead easy too! I’ve got a feeling that monitoring my compost like that might lose its novelty quite quickly......unless it starts behaving, then I might feel more enthusiastic 😂. The thing is, the stuff always composts down in the end!
I saved my sunflower stalks and cut them up into small sizes before they dry and use them to start my wood fire. Like you say they go rock hard. Many uses for them in the garden too. Nice video.😀
Happy birthday Fiona!🎉🎊🎉🎊🎂🥂Your so right about saving seeds, im trying to save as much as I can. 🤞You made me laugh about your pen 😂 Take good care both😊
A good way to cheat getting air into the compost heap rather than turn it all regularly is to get a metal pole, something like an old wardrobe pole, and ram it into the pile every foot or so and rive it round and round a bit to widen the hole its made, and then leave it. The air will get in and you'll be surprised how quickly it heats up a bit. Another idea is to pour some sieved coffee grounds into the holes you've made to add nitrogen to the mix.
Happy Birthday. Adding a layer of soil now and then boosts the heat in the compost bin, glad you enjoyed your success with the Geranium cuttings ive grown over 700 for the big house at work, you will have quite a collection if you keep it up over the next years, thanks for the vid , take care
I am suffering from gardening withdrawal symptoms. It's all house and landscaping projects for me at the moment. Roll on the Spring though. Well done on the seed collecting - I def don't do enough of that. Take care. Mags
Hi Fiona, we're going for the same garlic as you which we planted a couple of weeks ago now. Compared to me you are an expert compost maker. I never get round to turning my compost heap let alone chopping the ingredients up. I've tried autumn sown broad beans but never had any luck. They never seem to come through winter very well so good luck with yours.
I usually rope Kenny into doing the compost turning.....just about breaks my back! I wish we could be disciplined enough to turn it every week but that just isn’t going to happen. So far I’ve always had success with an autumn sowing of broad beans. They seem to sit there quite happily until spring. 🤗
Hi Fiona I got the same garlic as you, I think Germidor sprouted really quickly but Casablanca haven't yet. (Or the other way round😁) hopefully they do well for us both!👍🎃🙏😁 Happy composting!
I’m sure they’ll do fine. I’ve never had a problem growing garlic up to now but I’m always disappointed with the size of the bulbs. I’m going to try and remember to give them some liquid feeds come next spring and hope for bigger ones!
4:27 Bill and Val are great! Happy Belated Birthday to you as well! :) -Cara
Yes, they’re very experienced gardeners with some good tips. Thanks for watching!

@@fionagrows1848 De rien c'est avec plaisir 😊 😊 😊
I too suffer from the disappearing sharpie. Poor Pamela - he'll get a complex with that name 😆
😂 As long as he gets a plate of whiskas I think he’s prepared to suffer the indignity!

That’s a good tip! I’m always scratching around looking for paper to start our fire, so I’ll remember that, thanks!🤗
Love that fingerprint teeshirt! Great for genealogy. Love your videos
Thanks! My dad is right into the genealogy of our family. Although I didn’t link it to the tee shirt!😂

Thanks Lorraine! I’m getting to the stage that birthdays are best forgotten!😂.

Yep, they are good ideas and certainly beat the back breaker of a job of digging the whole thing. I will give it a try if the rain ever stops!😩

Yes, I’ve neglected to put any soil in this batch. Probably what it needs. 700! That’s amazing. Definitely expert level!

With the clocks changing and winter drawing in there won’t be much gardening to do anyway so maybe you’ve timed it just right.😊
Happy Birthday Fiona and enjoyed your video !
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it 🤗
Wow Amazing
Thanks for watching!🤗
Happy birthday Fiona I just like you want to grow evry things not know to put where🤣 love you new tools 🥰
I reckon an acre of land would do me fine! My little plot can be quite frustrating and limiting. I’m always hoping another plot will come my way.🤗

Thanks! How’s Puglia looking ? We’re missing our trips down there.
@@fionagrows1848 beautiful as usual.
Oh dear, looks like Pamela needs a good brushing.
I know, poor thing. We’ve tried but with limited success, as you see.
@@fionagrows1848 Cat treats after each brushing?
I have similar hair that expands on a moist day. Do you think it is suited to keeping you drier in misty rain?
😂Definitely! Thanks for watching!
