Viele Jahre später, immer noch ein perfektes Video. Toller Klang und gut gespielt
Outstanding
Absolutely
Please never take this down!
I'd love to get my hands on that one!
What an absolutely GREAT sounding instrument!!! Powerful enough to sound like a separate rank from a large organ. Great builder, whoever it is. More info please. Thanks for this video!!!
Thank a lot for your comment. The instrument was made in the organshop Orgelmakerij van der Putten in Finsterwolde in the Netherlands. See and hear us also on internet.

Posílám pozdrav, Tomáši, a přeji Ti, ať Ti to hraje stále dobře.
I love pieces like this. It's music that strides two worlds. On the one hand you have at least a little of the tonal sensibility and the harsh reedy buzz of the old medieval style. On the other hand, you have the complex compositional styles, tonal adventurousness, variable tempos, and the elaborate trills that would inevitably lead to the likes of Bach. Not as flowery as Monteverdi (who was many decades ahead of his time) but lightyears ahead of most compositions from the previous two centuries. This is the music of men in stubby shoes who marvel at the skies through telescopes detecting the orbits of Venus and Mars while still searching for the Philosopher's stone. A strange and fascinating time it was!
Well put!
Herr Klotz sieht von hinten aus wie Enis.
hart aber fair
Powerful! Great performance, thank you!!
geweldig !
Wonderful sound !
Mooi
Beautiful instrument, admirable playing. Thank you for uploading!
Lovely music that sounds great on the regal! An instrument that sounds beautiful of played and tuned well (especially if in meantone) but nasty of you aren't careful.
PERFECTO!!!!!!!
This is an incredible instrument, and so well played, thank you for uploading it. Very advanced for its time, producing the sound similar to that of a full consort of musicians on treble and bass woodwind instruments (high shawms/crumhorn, low rackett/crumhorn). I would love to hear this in person at a recital/performance such as this - it's very special indeed. I have heard samples of the Regal played by Christopher Hogwood on David Monrows 'Introduction To Medieval/Renaissance Instruments', but have never seen or heard a full recital like this one. The sound is often played to TV/films suggesting it was a common sound, but it would not have been because of its highly complex construction; it truly produces a 'Regal' sound.
Wouw, wat een klank!
Fraai!
there are small brass resonators and goosebill shallots with very thin reeds of soft brass. The rest is a matter of ears and fingers and a lot of patience. These sounds are sometimes so strong that we made a wooden cover over it.
Soft brass?!? Really?? Can you point to any detailed info about regals? I want to convert a crappy old keyboard to one! Thanks!
I am a little surprised that is has metal reeds, it sound so much like Renaissance wind instruments that use a cane reed, such as the shawn, rauschpfiefe, crumhorn, racket. It's like having a full band of musicians in one box; it's ingenious!
(@ 4:00 in or so) It's true! The "All Things Considered" theme from NPR has echoed through the ages, and here is an avatar! ;-)
So Small. But so Loud.
Excellent! Where can I find sheet music? I do not find them ...
Giovannini Antoine - I think your best bet would be to borrow it from a college library system.
Klinkt zeer naar de oude ranketten en de schalmeien.
I do not understand everything you say, but pretty sure you are suggesting that it sounds like a glorious combination of bagpipe, rackett and shawn! Yes, I can certainly hear low rackett and high shawms/rauschpfiefe, and the drone of bagpipe or crumhorn 👍. It's a complete band in a box! Very advanced for its day.
@@SaxJockey on one organ Im playing, there is Schalmei-Regal 8´, not as harsh as Regal, but still nice solo voice :)
@@piter_sk That must have an interesting sound and be very stimulating to play. Keep safe and Happy Christmas (soon).
Where are the pipes???? Is all this sound coming from this small console???
There are no pipes. This is an early reed organ & is the precursor of the Harmonium & unlike which this has not free but beating reeds like those in the pipe organ but without resonators hence the harsh Krumhorn like sound which is nothing like the Harmonium.
Danilo Perroni. The sound if coming from the reeds in the regal.
Yes it does. The instrument is constructed similarly to a reed organ. the difference is in the reeds. A reed organ uses free reeds, a regal uses beating reeds.
