I’ve faced this issue multiple times myself. To prevent the Death Roll, one must avoid or soften certain quick maneuvers. Lowering the yaw angle, as another user suggested, does help reduce the Death Roll but at the cost of agility during Freestyle maneuvers. I recommend immediate braking in critical situations, especially at higher altitudes, to prevent crashing. A permanent fix would require an urgently needed firmware update from DJI. I hope we receive such an update soon.
listen i been flying non dji fpv since 2014 and flown countless flights with ducted whoops and closed in props this problem isnt a new issue its been around for years and is always an issue with ducted props and always induced with hard flying mainly when pulling out of dives a classic yaw stall ....can be dialled out when raising pids but impossible to get rid of in the avata 2 without getting rid of the ducts
The second issue is called a “yaw tumble”. It happens when the drone flies through its own prop wash. Has happened to me multiple times with the Avata 2.
The sudden roll the the right is called prop wash. It sucks and I get it alot with my avata 2. To prevent, when making hard stops let the drone wait or go forward for some sec because then it will stay in its own wind and it will make propwash
It’s 100% consistently does that snapping to the right. It’s happened to me probably 20 times, only in manual mode. Not even ripping it, just doing a turn, it does a super quick roll to the left/right whatever way you are turning. Each time it’s wanted to drop out the sky but if you are quick you can recover it. Which I have been able. I did have a crash on the first day that had to return to DJI, hit a small 5mm twig about 2 feet from the ground that you could only see in the last frame before contact on the dvr. Avata tumbled, cracked the rear duct on one side and completely snapped the other. Was going about 5mph
This has happened to me many times. Flying with the controller. I turned the yaw movement to 290 and it hasn’t really happened much since. But the way it looks is really identical
Interesting. I need to fly more freestyle. Part of me wants to push and find out. But at the same time not experience it as you loose confidence in the drone.
Yesss, I had a similar situation with avata 1. It went up and unexpected turned to side and fell down. That time there was no wind🤷🏻♂️ I think they haven’t fix this problem.
I had a crash a few weeks ago. I’m not sure what the cause was or if it was just panic from my end. I was on top of the ocean near the coast when a warning message came in the center of my screen as I was about to start diving. I’m not sure if I panicked trying to get rid of it or if the drone prevented me from moving but it all happened so fast and I crashed into the water. DJI replaced it for free even without me having the warranty at the time but it’s really bad design to have a warning message take up the center of the screen when flying in manual mode
I've gotten a few death rolls in manual mode I've been able to recover from most of them. Its definitely still a thing, albeit less likely to happen than gen 1. I stopped using N/S modes for anything but takeoff and landing. It flies lopsided af in N/S with a little wind but still flies good in manual mode.
I thought I was the only one. I dived another tower yesterday and took off in N and I thought because I crashed this might have been a potential reason for its lob sidedness. Manual is more fun. Even angle mode for transitional cinewhoop does a better job staying level.
@@DimmyVExactly! That's the first thing I thought! My $150 Tinyhawk In angle was more stable than my Avata 2 flies in N/S! I've definitely bashed mine. But I bought it to learn how to fly full acro. I'm not wasting Care Refresh on intelligent features or modes I don't care about. But for someone who hopes to use this as a hybrid, it's an important point nobody is talking about.
Couple days ago, mine just flipped over mid flight, I can't get the battery out now but it still flies. Going to return it at BestBuy to get a replacement shortly! (Leaving in like 15 minutes lol)
Yea that was especially an issue with the Avata 1 because it was so high above the prop line. However with the Avata 2 the battery is super close to the prop line, much more so than on any other cinewhoop I've ever seen or flown, so that shouldn't be causing the issue, it's just that DJIs bad tuning can't handle the prop wash. I have an Avata 2 and for what it does it's great, but it doesn't fly nearly as well as any of my other cinewhoops, including my smaller ones...
I have had the same exact thing happening to me. Only after it snapped to the right it started falling then stabilize and then falling. Only happens when it's windy
its a ducted cinewoop, not really made for freestyle, hopefully the 04 air unit drops soon and we can use the goggles with some real freestyle quads and long range wings
Has anyone else had their Avata 2 just fall out of the sky? Playing in the church lot did back flips and all no problem. Went to fly away and started upwards then the screen on the goggles cut out as the drone basically shuts off and falls to the payment hitting on its butt so hard it yank the tabs of the battery outwards as it was ejected
I dont know anything about drones. However i know stuff about airplanes. That thing is expansive and you should change propellers becouse you might have a small crack that can grow bigger and bigger and one day just snap in half.
Interesting insight. Appreciate this. I did inspect the drone before flying again and there’s no visible damage on the props. I’ll keep an eye on it for sure. 🙏🏼
i rarely change props after a crash. I just bend them back into place and send it. This is a dji product tho so you do need to be more careful since it isn't a real freestyle drone lmao

Yes I had this
Isn't that the deadly turn that destabilizes the avata series?
I don't know if its consistent with the new, I need to do some more freestyle with it.

Ive crashed it many times and still works perfect and first crash was ito the bar metal

In sharp turns this is waht you get sadly. You can reproduce this at any time it was also a problem on the avata 1. But it got better
Pretty cool vid...i love drones but inexperienced in fpv and hence chose the mini 3 over avata like a year ago... would love to try the avata 2 tho
Avata 2 is big improvement over the first, check out the playlist 🍻
One guy from yt had the same issue in mountains, but luckily he recovered and did not hit anything, lol
Yesss, I had a similar situation with avata 1. It went up and unexpected turned to side and fell down. That time there was no wind🤷🏻♂️ I think they haven’t fix this problem.
I reckon it’s the sensors. Not fully off and they interfere with flight. We just need a “pro mode” to turn it off
Yes, I have the same issue. It's just too week. 3 inch FPV Drone with guard. Not good for diving hahaa
That’s scary

Hope you got your new drone!

At least no damage.

its the battery placement they said on youtube and the battery is like heavy so the drone wants to flip over upside down

this happen to me similar, but whit dji fpv video in my channel
How are you diving without the camera picking up the front of the drone
I’m in manual mode and the gimbal is at 15°.

How windy though? If it’s within the specified range I should not expect it tbh. If very windy then understandable
@@DimmyV not bad winds just like gust. I live in the middle of the United States Nebraska so it can windy but the avata 2 definitely has some bugs
@user-hi5quadxplorer ok not bad. They last momentarily. Happy Independence Day 🇺🇸

Speak with DJI support if that happens and they can look at the flight info recorded to see if it was an issue

You can check for hairline cracks with a blue uv torch i hear. Adding that to my preflight when my avata comes monday
Maybe a bird attack is why the drone went down.
Wasn’t a bird. You could tell a bird strike.
That's why u get a normal FPV drone, DJI is NOT a real FPV drone...
It’s why I’ve been testing and comparing it. Check out the freestyle video. 🍻
Got the same issue with avata 2. It is still flying after the crash. But the confidence in drone has reduced of course
My last couple flights felt that way. However I’m regaining confidence again. Just have to keep flying. That’s where DJI care refresh comes in handy 🚁
