At first, I was skeptical that it could be this easy. Thanks for saving my mouse!
same
I love this mouse. As a Graphic Designer, it is my main tool, and when it stopped working, I almost cried. I'm not very techy or mechanical, BUT with your help, I fixed my beloved mouse. THANK YOU!!!!!! 🥳🥳🥳
Thanks!!! This fixed my issue.
Investigating after the fact, there is an alternative way to fix this if you don't want to risk taking the mouse apart.
You can open the "Logitech Options" software and set the "Gesture Button" action to "None". This disables the button, allowing the mouse to start working again even if the button is still stuck.
Thanks for the update. This will handy for somebody 🫡
Just wanted to add my name to the list of those for whom this fix worked. Thank you so much!
Thanks for the walkthrough of taking apart the mouse! Really helpful for those who are trying to disassemble for the first time!
So nice, I have 2 of these since years and both have the same problem. Normally pressing the side hard unjammed the button, but the cursor stopped completely. Thankfully this hopefully gave my favourite mice a few more years!
This fixed it for me!
same here ! 2 master 2s and they unjammed the thump button... logitec why ??!!!
I tried this and the problem happens again after a few months of use. This mouse is my a complete trash.
I expect this to be one of those useless videos and it turned out to be exactly what I needed. Literally wanted to buy a new mouse before seeing this. Thanks man! 5*
Worked perfectly! If you are in a hurry you can try to unstick the stuck button by giving some strokes to the mouse from the bottom up. Will open it and fix it definitely later.
worked for me! I gave it few hard swings
I was gifted this expensive mouse, which I've been using for over 5 years. When this broke, I really did not want to downgrade my mouse. THANK YOU for making this video, I was able to fix my mouse and continue using it 😊
Wow. This was it. Totally fixed it. Just loosened it back ~ .75 turns for each of the (2x) screws and that was good enough for me to feel a good clicking.
I've had this mouse for almost 5 years now, and the past year it has started to have these symptoms past year or so. today became completely unusable. Should have noticed that the thumb button was getting harder to press (and stuck now of course). Now my mouse is smooth as it was when it was new, no lagging. Perfect! (at least for now)
Will update if anything changes, saved me from buying a new mouse! Thanks.
I was about to throw my mouse thinking it was done. Thank you you saved me some money!
I tried to hit my mouse against the desk, until I found out your video. It works far better !
Thanks, that was exactly the issue for me. Some notes: a very flat screw driver can work on the star screws at the top (NOT thank you Logitech) and to be careful when removing the white locking mechanism.
Thanks!! I had to swing by walmart to get a precision screwdriver kit for the top 2 screws, but your video showed the exact resolution for my mouse. Thanks!!
YOU ARE THE BEST! THANK YOU! I love my MX2 and can't live without it. I was about to throw it out and go on Amazon but your video solved my problem!
Same! Haha stoaked to save it from the landfill
Some tips after fixing 2 mouses:
- Tools : Phillips 0 (PH0) and Torx 5 (T5) screwdrivers. Thin blade.
- Do not fully remove the non-stick pads: lift both sides of the pads just enough to get to the screws (this way you won't damage the pad so much).
- Do not disconnect the ribbon. The fix is perfectly doable with both parts of the mouse still linked by the ribbon.
i have the same problem and will try this asap. had this mouse for 2 years and didnt know there was a button tbh
Thank you. Just a heads up. For me it was enough to loosen the 2 screws underneath the thumb button, without actually taking apart the mouse.
Yes
Thank you!! I also have 2 of these mice and was getting so frustrated that my work one stopped working. This fixed my issue
Thanks. Fixed mine in less than 5 mins! Easy straightforward video!
Thanks for helping me fix mine, have had it for a little over a couple years and it's been one of the best mice I recall using
Thank you very much! it worked! I thought i have to waste money for such expensive mouse after 2 years. Appreciate the sharing!
This solved my problem! huge thanks.
however, many years later this problem came again, tried the same approach, even tried to lift the pcb so far and fixed it with some silicon glue.
in the end, i just ripped off the button (not really I just removed the button mechanism from under the pad. useless button and causes a lot of problems.
This mouse has served me for more than 6 years, I'm not complaining.
Thank you. I didn't have to disassemble it, just whacked it a few times against my palm, it must have loosened the button and it got better. Not the most elegant solution, but it sure was quick :)
My mouse stopped working right in the middle of a project and it was driving me insane. Thank you so much.
Glad it helped!
Thank you! it worked very well. Two screws (small) needed different small screwdriver.
Great Fix! This was exactly what my mouse needed, thanks a lot!
Brilliant. That fixed it. You saved me $100. Thanks!
Thanks for making this video. exact issue in my mx 2. Instead of opening, I clicked that thumb button properly few times and I think it goes unlocked from the pressed state. The mouse is working fine now.
Superb, worked a treat! I was about to spend £100 on a new Master MX :)
Amazing! I needed to find a torx screwdriver for the upper screws, but your solution worked like a charm. Thank you!
I managed with the smallest watch screwdriver I had, with some fatigue :)
It sounds so stupid, but it is honestly true that this fixed my mouse as well... The point "carefully remove the bottom stickers" though isn't quite that easy.
Omg thank you thank you thank yo!!!
It took me 2 months of stress and only 2 min to fix it thanks to you!!!!
worked for me and did the trick.. thought the latest windows update which just got installed on it's own was the culprit.
never used that side-button, so i was a bit dumbfounded how it caused my dilemma...
thanks again :)
Thanks so much. His video saved my work day. For me, it was enough to turn only the top screw, and it worked.
Exactly as described. I could fix my mouse and it works perfectly again. Thanks!
Thank you very much. I really appreciate these helpful diy videos.
My hero of the day! Just was about to buy a new one, but said I am going to try to fix this and found your vide. Thanks!

Worked for me just now! Saved me from buying a nee one! Thanks!
This trick just saved my house. Thank you
Thank you so much, I thought I'd have to return it but because of your video its fixed!
All you need to do is stick the corner of an exacto knife between the hard plastic and the rubber at the thumb button. Then pry up the rubber a bit to relieve the pressure. If should work then.
le tuto est très clair, merci !
il ne me manque que le tournevis torx , j'ai donc sacrifié la touche du pouce (que je n'ai jamais utilisé) et ma souris est opérationnelle .
Nice, this fixed my mouse.
I added some tape on the screw and board hopefully it will prevent the issue again.
Thanks for your video. You saved my mouse! 🤩
Absolutely worked like a charm. Thank you.
You will need tiny screwdrivers.
Front screw are T2 size, for inner screws you will need tiny screwdriver.
