It never ceases to amaze me how long curly hair is when stretched out! I mean you literally gained like 6 inches or so in the longer style! I have wavy hair but if I cut it short it springs up into ringlets and ends up even shorter than I intended lol. Not as dramatic as this but I still have to be careful how short I go. I find the waves easier to style so I usually keep it long.
Oh snap! This is so helpful 🙌🏽 I used to straighten my hair up until I did a big chop and now I’m having to learn how to style and care for my natural curls so seeing there’s a way to get different looks is awesome 🙌🏽👏🏽🥳
If you want both length, volume, _and_ definition then style your hair in sections, brush your hair sideways, and blow dry it without a diffuser(on medium speed). I have 3b curls and this is what works for me. My day 5 curls are voluminous, defined, and barely any frizz. And I don't refresh my curls at all(besides maybe use an oil when separating some curl clumps)
Thats so cool to know that that works. I always let my hair air dry for length and blow dry for volume. Works for me. But this is also really great when you have so much shrinkage.

I never knew a length lock even existed! I usually just wash my hair and then put leave in conditioner and then put it in a low ponytail. Then I put hairspray on, especially the ponytail part and hold it or occasionally run my hand over it to make sure it's drying straighter and then let it dry overnight and then take the ponytail out and separate my hair strands, apply some moose and voila 😂. I'm white, with German, Sicilian and Cherokee, so my hair is super curly and frizzy, so this has been my go to if I don't want to straighten it. My mom's German and her hair is kinky curly and more coarse. It looks like it's been the same length my whole life bcuz she just throws products in and after it dries, it still looks like an Afro. I used to hate my hair as a child bcuz I couldn't wear it down or do anything except a ponytail. My mom didn't know how to do her hair either, so I experimented until I found something that worked. I loved the L'Oreal intense smooth ultimate straightening shampoo, conditioner and straightening balm bcuz I barely needed to use an iron, but ofc they discontinued it. My hair grew in so fast and healthy. But now I'm back to square one.

I did all this without all the extra work Pineapple bun with satin scarf 😅....and I have type 4 hair.....I don't experience shrinkage with this method and also the products make a difference Wet hair products vs moisturizing products
