Midterms need to canceled. It is constant campaigning instead of politicians focusing on doing anything...
The two-party system appears to do just as much harm these days with people being more and more driven apart and polarized. Anything that fosters such a strong "us VS them" mentality can't be good for political discourse.
This is one of the dumbest comments I have ever seen on CZcams.
I'd you think the point of elections is about anything but power than you are mistaken.
@@reilysmith5187 I think elections have become all about power but I do not think it is fair to say elections were designed to project power solely. As bad as they are it is leagues above any other tried system or choosing leaders/executive power.
Even when I vehemently disagree with a particular one of your opinions, I can still understand the rationale behind them. I enjoy watching your videos and imagining how I would feel if I had radically different life experiences from my rural southern US upbringing
As a non-American, I love your coverage of US politics (as well as that of other geo-politics). Would love if one day you could give a breakdown of the 9/11 Commission and the consequent pretext made by Bush Jr govt for going to Iraq. Love your content.
That Jerome Davidson ad was absolutely shocking, what in the hell was that
No irony in it either
As a disgruntled American and student of philosophy and American History, I can safely say that it is very difficult to have any hope in today’s elite, and increasingly difficult to be gracious to the cackling children who splash each other in the culture war blow-up pool.
I have so many issues with our governing officials, and today’s Americans identify along tribal or traditional lines. This complicates any attempts I make to critique, say, Donald Trump from any reasonable perspective, because then I cannot maneuver the other party in my discussion out of their inherent assumption that I must be “another liberal.”
Most people in my country think about these things in such a linear fashion, and the crux of the issue is that now our politicians *embrace* that epistemological weakness, where many generations ago, it was ill-becoming of a politician to do such a thing - to play to the crowd when the crowd is swine. It has moved beyond the point where ignorance can be assumed. Make no mistake - the intellectual dishonesty and craven bad faith arguments of today’s American elites (just take a gander at CPAC) are absolutely a Machiavellian attempt to strike while the iron is hot.
It reminds me of what the founding fathers said “a republic is only as good as it’s people if the people are stupid it will fail” paraphrasing but i mean it’s true we don’t encourage freedom of thought amongst ourselves
So glad you covered the Pennsylvania election. It's so absurd
and also very sad to see the state of Fetterman, honestly
"Baby formula crisis"
Baby formula in the US is like 40% corn syrup anyway, might as well just give your baby a coke.
who told you this? this is stupid
@@deusvuult The ingredient list did. i dot imgur dot com slash tpZ22PF dot jpg. Now, granted, corn syrup solids are not exactly the same as high fructose corn syrup but the coke thing was a joke.
Blame it on Cornpop
I know America isn't one solution away from unfucking itself. I do think adopting Ranked Choice Voting would go a LONG way to helping fix many issues. Gets rid of the "Lesser of two evils" idea and the worry of a 3rd party taking votes away from one side or another outright.
The irony is of course that it hurts those currently in power and can only be implemented by those currently in power.
I know we have the the Signle Transferable Vote in Scotland similar to what you're saying would be good in the US but did England ever commit to it? Would make sense if they didn't as there isn't an SNP or the like taking seats away from the tories and labour
this manages to be hilarious and depressing at the same time
I don’t remember which podcast you did with Thorin, but I remember you speaking about how America is designed to do your head in. This feels like an extension of that and I needed it. Thanks rich
Credit to TRIGGERnometry guys for keeping straight faces while listening to Sam Harris.
Politics commentary (especially on Twatter) for us little people is like the 80s War Games movie. The only winning move is not to play.
Deleting Twitter/facebook/any social media with a newsfeed is one of the best lifestyle changes I've made in the past 2ish years.
Not playing is them winning we need to take the power back
@@ferminandresparra3266 Yes, but social media is not the place to do it. It *is* however the place to have Monty Python style arguments.
@@azalea_k Rigth so we dont talk about it in social media we dont talk about it in dinner we dont talk about of doing a syndicate great we never talk about it tell me about old people dont trying to change
Like Game of Thrones except as soon as you play, you die, and nobody ever wins
I always enjoy the political content and laughing at the absurdity of it all.
Is there anywhere left in the world where politicians still hold gravitas?
that jerome davison ad is some of the craziest shit i've ever seen. what the hell america...
Which flavor of authoritarianism do I vote for this year?
Great video, also made me decide on what to have for dinner that one was unexpected.
Can’t believe people aren’t thrilled for a 3rd party. That’s the only way to have a big shift in politics unless a really different politician in Red or Blue party takes over
Youre a fuckin legend for these, makes the work day fly by to hear you talk about our clown show of a political landscape over here. 2 hours is spoiling us
What a world to live in. Czech guy listening to British guy ranting about American politics. Even tho I have many differenting opinions as you Richard, I really appreciate you and respect your work.
Here in Brazil, for example, we have multiple political parties but still only the big two get votes anyway, it's A vs B anyway. The guy that has already been in power says he will do more (he's done nothing but bankrupt the country and be part of the biggest corruption scandal ever in South America), while the other guy is defending generals who executed people for being communists. The two-party scheme doesn't work and the multiple party scheme won't work either because people are always focused on This versus That instead of "what have they actually done in office so that I might vote for them to hold bigger office". Politics is supposed to work but it doesn't, and I'm not making an anarchical argument, I'm saying we need better people. That's the struggle I think we'll always go through, especially in South America, from what I can see, because I can't comment on European, North American, Asian, etc politics since I don't know enough, and it might never be resolved anyway, anywhere, regardless. That's why I don't vote for anybody here, even though voting is mandatory.
Everytime I see things like that I think "Damn, thank god I am not American"... then I start to realize that this shit is coming to my country too. At least I got more than 2 parties. Depressing, really
@@TheJackOfAllTrades777 Na, bis auf die AFD eben aber die will ich auch nicht wählen. Aber das stimmt schon. Darum haben ja auch immer weniger Bock auf Politik
As an American, it’s a fucking shit show and “I hate it here.” Really appreciate credible external journalists like yourself calling this shit out!
Nice to hear about the one who cannot be barraged in this video!
Interesting video, thanks for uploading
1:00:04 That looks like a satirical ad straight out of Grand Theft Auto.
Seeing Papa John on the list absolutely buckled me. It's all just so dumb.
Maybe we could all just get along
I can never smoke when I listen to these political podcasts cause your side comments make me out it through my nose
As a, American (and specifically a Pennsylvanian), I really just wish there was a "none of the above" option on ballots. This shit sucks, man.
Back to that sweet American politics drama. Straight hood classics from ya boi Rich!!
When I had only heard Richards politics being talked about years ago I would've thought he was some horrible monster. Having spent the past 12 months watching his content I see that he is just incredibly based!
Have already seen it on twitch, definitely worth a watch.
I live in pa and your right the race is pretty rough but fetterman is clearly better despite that incident.
The problem with the forward party is 1. Andrew yang refused to say his party would not take super pac money or dark money which is a base for any 3rd party to be seen as different.
2. The forward party is the “common sense center” in the Overton window of Washington which means in practice they will simply be a party of joe manchin, or sinema etc.
If they were the “common sense middle” of the American people, they would support social democratic policies like Medicare for all which polls in the mid 60s consistently or the green new deal which polls in the mid 50’s. I for some reason doubt they will support those policies when they are opening their arms to elected republicans but I hope im wrong.
To be fair to MTG we did have Sturgeon saying "Brexit means breakfast" over and over again and we've all forgotten about that lmao
Fucking two hours of video and there's plenty more of it out there. Thanks for this.
You know... This was depressing to watch in full. Brazil's politics try to emulate US politics in an almost 1:1 fashion. Hearing this was a mix of "Thanks God I don't live there" and "Shit, that's not too far from my own reality here"...
2 HOUR???!? God bless you Rich
Amen Rich.
We go all.
42:00 "You can see a video of it on youtube" No thanks Rich. I can't imagine the irreparable damage that'll do to my search results no matter how many VPNs and anonym browsers I use.
Very nice discussion
I'm on my 3rd watch of this video and "gazpacho police" still makes me laugh out loud.
Slightly off topic but I'd love to see you on Triggernometry Rich, I think you 3 would have an interesting and worthwhile conversation.
The voting boundaries are decided by the state's party.. Very democratic.
When the Orban bit started I knew that speech gonna come up. I don't know how that flows, but I thought that in a lots of countries, that speech alone could easily shut that absolute melvin down. Hungary would be bettet if he stayed there the US. Or anywhere really.
Omg The Papa John :o
Gispatcho (idk how to spell it) that’s hysterical Richard
Love your political commentary, Rich. Reminder of what journalism used to be.
You certainly articulate why I find it so hard to vote for anyone here. Thank you.
please do more videos on UK politics for your burgerclap audience, we'd love to hear your take
Honestly filling up a jeep with premium while your own voice is explaining the ways in which you are actually fighting racism is pretty good messaging and doesn't remind me of the gas station from Zoolander
Can I suggest 'dimfluencer'
i live in belgium, we speak 3 different official languages here and have 7 governements. we like to complain about the politicians all the fucking time.
but even we aren't as ridiculous as what goes on over there in the US.
the lauren b bit was hilarious
Here we go more rl politics streams
It's gonna be Biblical.
How dare you imply papa john isn't a high level political thinker
40:00 Voting machines are literally illegal to use in Australia we have paper and people count them. The only electronic part is the preferences caluclation. and the two major parties are basically the same anyway on foreign policy which is really what matters to the "global elite" so I don't see why the elections would need to be rigged anyway.
cringe kino is back on the menu, thank you america for providing these situations for content
Oh boy American politics is funnier than most shows on netflix
richard is simply on top
ive gotta vote between fetterman and oz and i'm really not very thrilled about it
Voting for the lesser evil is still voting for evil.
Pennsylvania is literally Trump v Biden lite lmao
Democracy works until the population realizes they can vote generous gifts for themselves from the public treasury.
There's always some emergency.
Incredible content man! This expresses like 90% of what i think about the US and im from Germany haha! keep it on!
FUCKING VOTE!
After communicating with Richard haters. it's great to see how many of Richard's fans are (mostly) sensible and coherent people feels good to be on the right side of history with you all :)
I would definitely vote for a third party. Red and Blue are both gross
Off to see doug stanhope at the o2 in brum tonight. This comment is for the algorithm.
Have fun :) would Love to See him live.
@@kenobents4098 it was fucking awesome. Go when you can! :D
Hot damn that's some giga cringe shit.
Cronge!
Glenn Beck is directionally good on WEF/Great Reset issues - mainly the manufactured energy scarcity. He's not my cup of tea but at least he's enlightening some Boomers.
sound
oh like british politics arent even more cringe lol
I don't even think that quip about Fetterman's heart attack was that bad. It's actually kind of a witty dunk on your political rival. In a rap battle that would've been met with "DAMNs" all around. All's fair in love and war, as they say. Make no mistake, there's political war being waged in America right now.

so u start the video off with a strawman? Show me any dems saying "vote for us or the world will end" (you of course cant). And I know you can say "oh it was obvious hyperbole", but unfortunately the reality is that saying this gets used as an actual argument rather than making clear that you were just joking. So this is a sh*t start frankly.
I'm a big fan of you Richard but calling out "offensive jokes" by a politician (rightfully so) while in the same breath also admitting to "being a bit of a doomer" and in favour "of culling the herd" is a bit... silly, to say the least.
Misanthropy and Nihilism bearing their fruits I guess.
How are those things contradictory?
