- Netflix’s live action ONE PIECE is one of, if not the best, title of the year. And it’s chock full of flashbacks, so it tracks that Geekritique would make a timeline dedicated to it. But could the live action One Piece also illuminate and change what we know of the manga and anime’s timeline?

CORRECTION: Gold Roger was the character’s original name in the manga; it was later revealed to be Gol D. Roger. Sorry about the mixup!
Gold Roger’s name wasn’t changed in the live action, he is called like that in the early manga too. His true name revelation happens later in the Drum island arc.

I am so happy to see you dive into One Piece! As a long time fan let me tell that in OP dates and timelines are really hard to keep track of, and it was probably by design. I say this because, everytime we see flashbacks, character ages always check out. It seems to me that Oda has everything mapped out timeline-wise.

A friend of mine once told me that the "One Piece" treasure is 1/3 of the entire world's gold. If this is true, that's quite an impressive accomplishment for a pirate to have achieved.

Not even Oda seems to remember the exact date of some events or some details or even his own words xD. BUT, there is this "person" known as The Librery of Ohara who actually helped in the Live Action with dates, historical events and more. The LA is made by fans for fans. And the S2 will keep that, Randy Troy, a One Piece youtuber, who happens to be a writter, joined the writters room.

I would have to review the anime and manga, but I seem to remember that it is not until the work has advanced that it is revealed that Roger has the D. in his name. I don't think the live action wanted to omit it definitively, but simply to keep the surprise for all those people who are watching the live action without knowing absolutely anything about One Piece.

You are welcome! I didn't remember Noland's dates, so we helped each other. Furthermore, Roger seems like an understandable "mistake" to me, because we have completely assumed and internalized referring to him as Gold D Roger, instead of simply calling him Gold Roger.@@Geekritique

Hey Dakota, fantastic video as always👌 I hope that u will make a video to the new book: MCU an Official Timeline✍️🎬 They wrote that Fury’s big Week was in 2010, and that just made the whole book confusing🤯 Example: Because Fury said in The Avengers, that Thor took place last year (2011), when talking about Phase 2 (making weapons of The Tesseract). Hope u will make sense of it all😅 THANK YOU🤓

i am a years long One Piece fan, and the adaptation was quite good, but the Bleach movie and espetialy Kenshin movies were wery good LA adaptations as well and most people making videos of this kind fail to mention them, now onto some corrections
a) in the opening scene, a guy in a green cloak is shown from the back, who is most likely Dragon, who was allso at the execution in the manga/anime and wears that clothing there
b) Gold Roger in the manga is allso the name that most of the world knows him by, it was changed by the world governmant to hide the D initial, it is explained later in the series
not a mistake but fun fact: in the manga/anime Kuro is the one who breaks morgans jaw, which makes him wear the prostetic later on
