There is one rule with Lara: always elect her live versions, she is surprisingly better than in her music videos, she raises the bar when she connects to an audience.

Love Lara, so sad that the Celine entourage squeezed her out of North America but she thrived in Europe. Her live performances are even better than official videos. Caruso is an excellent song but is in Italian.

Lara is one of my favorite female singers. The emotions she's pouring out during her performances are second to none. When you react to Lara, please always choose a live performance, not a music video. The live versions of Adagio and other songs are way better than the music videos.
And don't forget to check out Forestella! 😁

Adagio is an italian word, that means "Slowly".
This is also used in music to define the pace of a music (a bit slow, between lento and andante) and also as a name of a piece of a sonate, concerto or symphony that is using that specific pace.
The music from this song of Lara Fabian is a pop translation of an italian classic piece called "Albinoni's Adagio". It was written in 1958 by Remo Giazotto who was an admirer of Albinoni, a musician from the 17th/18th century. He claimed it was from him and give his music this name but there is consensus today that he most probably has composed it himself.
The classic music piece is globally famous and was translated into a pop song for Lara. She wrote lyrics in english and italian for it and is the original performer.
She kept the title Adagio and wrote a story with a double meaning: a woman that is awaiting to find her love / an artist that is awaiting the god of inspiration.
This song has become a classic and has been covered by many : Shirley Bassey (!!), Dimash, Floor Jansen, Polina Gagarina, Giulia Falcone, Laura Bretan, Anastasia Luna, …
They made great covers but none of these match the amazing storytelling performance of Lara, or her ability to use vocal subtleties to be in sync with the music, exposed in the live from the concert From Lara with Love.
Her italian version is also amazing.

    More information on Lara Fabian:
Lara is recognized as one of the best vocalist ever seen on earth and all professionals list her in the top vocalist tier with Barbra, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Lisa Fischer, ....
In my personal opinion, she is even the best.
There are a few vocal characteristics that are her signature: her famous resonance for instance that allows her to sing acapella without mic in venues with 8,000 attendees. Her nickname in the singing world is "the ring" due to this. I would also list her amazing phrasing, breath management and her pleasant tone even when belting in her upper register.
So she is one of the best vocalist ever, but on top of that, she adds a few things that make her an absolute package with no equivalence:
    • she speaks 4 languages fluently (french, italian, english, spanish), can speak a bit of sicilian, russian and dutch, and has sung in 12 languages in total
    • she is an amazing songwriter and wrote lyrics for most her songs, in the 4 languages she speaks fluently. She often co-composes the music with the composer.
    • she acts and performs on stage as nobody else, she colors and reveals the meaning of every single word in the songs, and her ability to emote, to draw you in is second to none
    • she is the sweetest soul on earth, very humble, down to earth and benevolent. She likes to meet others, and her fans are always pleasantly surprised when this happens.
A quick background on her and her career:
She is belgian, her father is flemish, but also has italian roots (her mother is from sicilia) and American roots ( her grandfather is from Detroit). She was raised in sicilia first then in Belgium so she speaks both french and italian as native languages.
She has been classically trained on vocal, piano and songs composition for 10 years ( from 8 to 18) in the Brussels Royal Conservatory.
She is still having vocal lessons and training several times a week today.
She started her career in Canada in the early 90s, more precisely in Quebec, the french-speaking part of Canada.
She now lives in Montreal and has also Canadian citizenship
She became very famous there and then conquered France in 1996/1997 (she topped charts there and some of her songs such as "Je t'aime" or "Tout" became classics of the french music).
In 2000, she was about to penetrate the US Market, with a lot of media initial interest. Her first english song (I will love again), a pop dance song, stayed number one on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart for 58 weeks in a row and number 32 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Her Album ("Lara Fabian") was about to become a massive hit, and the concert "From Lara With Love" was recorded to be broadcasted everywhere in the US.
This concert is legendary and the song you just reviewed is from this concert.
But a dispute with Sony on artistry directions, and the will from Celine Dion's staff to block her progress in the US, completely broke this plan.
She thus refocused back on Europe and made huge success there, extending her reach to Eastern Europe and Central Asia where she became an absolute superstar thru her collaboration with Igor Krutoy during several years.
She is also a star in Brazil as her song "Love By Grace", used as the soundtrack for a very famous soap opera, topped the charts for months.
Many of her songs became classics and were covered by the other singing legends: Barbra Streisand, Shirley Bassey, Josh Groban, …
With her success in Europe, Brazil and part of Asia, she is the inspiration of the new generation of vocalists: most of them are coming from there.
Thru their covers of Lara Fabian songs, USA and many other countries are now rediscovering her.
She is Dimash's idol: I’ve read somewhere that, when he was a child, he was listening her songs every night to get asleep.
He covered many of her songs (that she performed originally ; she also wrote some of these).
Out of my mind I can list:
    ○ Adagio,
    ○ Mademoiselle Hyde,
    ○ Know/Vocalise/Ascolta La voce
    ○ Love of tired swans
She also wrote the lyrics of his song « Your Love ».
And she covered « Love is like a dream » before him (song from Igor Krutoy originally performed by Alla Pugacheva).
They also performed Ti Amo Cosi together with Aida Garafulina: this is a song that she performed originally with Dmitriy Hvorostovsky and Alina Yaroyava then again later with Dmitriy and Sumi Jo, before this new trio with Dimash and Aida.
Dimash is now also working with Igor Krutoy: I was told Lara did connect Igor to Dimash after his Adagio cover ; Igor came back from retirement and composed severals songs for him after it.
Many other top vocalists from the current generation covered her songs:
    ○ Floor Jansen (Adagio),
    ○ Polina Gagarina (Adagio, Je t’aime),
    ○ Diana Ankudinova (Tomorrow is a lie, Know),
    ○ Morissette Amon (Broken Vow),
    ○ Gabriel Henrique (Love by Grace),
    ○ Cakra Khan (Broken Vow),
    ○ Katrina Velarde (Broken Vow),
    ○ Regine Velasquez (Broken Vow),
    ○ Giulia Falcone (Adagio, Caruso, Je suis malade, Je t'aime),
    ○ Daria Bentsa (I guess I loved you),
    ○ Julie Anne san Jose (Broken Vow),
    ○ Rimar ( Adagio, Broken Vow),
    ○ Sarah Geronimo (Broken Vow)
    ○ Laura Bretan ( Adagio, Caruso),
    ○ Jackie Evancho (Je t’aime, Caruso and Broken Vow, BV rewritten as « Imaginer » by Lara for Jackie),
    ○ Almira (from 4th Impact band) (Broken Vow),
    ○ Amir (Je t’aime),
    ○ Anastasia Luna (Adagio),
    ○ Choi Sung Hoon (Je suis malade),
    ○ Forestella (Je suis Malade),
    ○ Petra Berger (Adagio, Broken Vow),
    ○ Katerina Maslova (Je t’aime, I guess I loved you)
    ○ ....
Today, she still has an amazing voice and tone and can still reach the 5th octave with resonance ; she still offers these emotive renditions that are her unique signature.
In June 2022, she kicked off a WW tour and stunned her fans once again with 5 magical concerts in Canada.
Sorry if I was long, but I hope this gives some context on Lara.

    • @manofiske3318
      @manofiske3318 Před rokem +1

She speaks *four* languages, 'fluently' _all_ of which she was brought up with and concedes, herself, the fact(or "feat", if you will) of her fluency is nothing to "brag about" since she had a direct and immediate family connection with 3 of those(English, her grandfather is a born and bred, American; Illinois & Michigan, her mother born & raised in Sicily, her father Belgium) and she studied Spanish in school and of course, it is an intimate relative of fellow romance languages, Italian and French and one of the most widely spoken idioms in the world.(it is relatively easy to acquire even for one without her background in that it is logically structured and more or less, phonetic .
Now, having said that, she _does_ put language(the aforementioned, in particular) to effective use in her chosen profession which is admirable.
We can enjoy someone; their work, etc. without exaggerating their achievements or accomplishments.

@@Deb-ex9st Why do you wish to keep digging yourself deeper into a hole from which there is no escape? She said no such thing 'in the interview' . Your desire to build her up into some otherworldly creature now has caused you to "hear things" or hallucinate. The woman speaks 4 languages 'fluently'; the 4th of which(Spanish) she did not necessarily practice daily while growing up (it was more of an intellectual exercise) and so, understandably, she is less adept at handling . Though due to its intimate idiomatic relationship to those languages with which she is already well familiar , she can offer a more than serviceable "take" on it if called for.
Check out the appearance she made on PBS Television's WLIW during one of its fund-raising drives.(circa 2000) They were using her PBS Concert "From Lara with Love" as an instrument or device to drum up memberships etc. Lara was on hand with a dual purpose in mind, to sell CD's and VHS recordings of her work while promoting airings of the concert itself and drawing attention to the needs of public broadcasting in the U.S. which is distinct from commercial television. Throughout the "telethon" Lara Fabian speaks at length with the program's female host who is impressed with her multilingualism and says as much. To which Lara is quick to set her (and anyone else who desires to accept the truth) , straight on this score/theme. She states, "it (the fact that she speaks *FOUR* languages) is " _nothing to brag/boast about_ "...she then, as I have, goes on to explain the particular circumstances and conditions of her upbringing etc. that are responsible for her polyglot status today.
