Adagio is an italian word, that means "Slowly".
This is also used in music to define the pace of a music (a bit slow, between lento and andante) and also as a name of a piece of a sonate, concerto or symphony that is using that specific pace.
The music from this song of Lara Fabian is a pop translation of an italian classic piece called "Albinoni's Adagio". It was written in 1958 by Remo Giazotto who was an admirer of Albinoni, a musician from the 17th/18th century. He claimed it was from him and give his music this name but there is consensus today that he most probably has composed it himself.
The classic music piece is globally famous and was translated into a pop song for Lara. She wrote lyrics in english and italian for it and is the original performer.
She kept the title Adagio and wrote a story with a double meaning: a woman that is awaiting to find her love / an artist that is awaiting the god of inspiration.

When she recorded the song, Tommy mottola, Sony music's boss at the time came in the studio with Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino, Danny DeVito, Joe Pesci and Ray Liotta. They came to see her perform the song and the song version in the album is the one they listened live. Lara confided in interview that she knew that Mottola did that so that she gave her best. After her performance Pesci was crying and Pacino said she was good. Saw Lara the past 14th of June in Montreal, Québec,Canada and at 52 now, she delivered one of the best shows off of my 100 and more concerts in my life. She is technically so masterful that she was able to bring us back in the days of her ‘’ prime ‘’... if it means something in her case. Have a look at the excellent channel; Lara The Ring Fabian for great videos of her ongoing tour and English subtitles interesting interviews of her. Her new guitarist, Jimmy Lahaie, is also a christian; he plays in a group called ; Heritage, with his long time bro Sebastian Demrey.
If I had to make a playlist for the last 24 hours of my life, this would definitely be on it, along with Je Suis Malade.

She kicked off a new ww tour last month with 5 concerts in Canada. She was mind blowing. I will attend my first concert in France in October, can’t wait.
but I am in touch with a singer that attended 4 of the 5 concerts held in June.
She had already attended concerts from Mariah and Celine but told us she never felt overwhelmed like she did with Lara. Lara’s voice is so resonant that apparently you feel completely enveloped and surrounded. She was litterally shocked and had several eargasms, lol…
