Electrical engineering can be broken up into various concentrations. The main one's I discuss in the video are power, electronics, RF, and controls. Students who enter into electrical engineering will all take mostly the same classes up until normally their 3rd or 4th year. By that time they take classes that are specific to these concentrations and subfields. The electrical engineering major can lead to many types of career paths in all these different fields so if you enjoy any of them, then it may be a good major for you. You will learn a little about all the concentrations but later on you should be able to pick which one you like the most. Most engineering majors have concentrations like this so be sure to look into specifically what you want to get out of a given college major and what career path will be best for you.

Dude, be proud of yourself. You're helping a lot of clueless students with these videos. Great job!
So true
Facts
I identify with this comment 200 percent
Yes he survived our diploma
I am 64 years old and a retired industrial engineer. I am an engineer in title only having a degree in communications and a masters in English/English Literature. It was only in the last 10 years of my professional life that I wished I had sucked it up and gone the Electrical Engineering route. I learned so much from my EE counter parts and found I had a high acuity in the practical side of Electrical Engineering applications. Wish I had your channel in my early days. Keep up the good work. Thinking of going back in my free time and getting an EE degree. I know it's like closing the barn door after the horse got out, but it will give me a sense of completion. I will start referencing your explanations. Thanks again. Cheers.
Go for it! Better to spend your years doing what brings you completion than to never start! Good luck if you decide to study it.
For a real completion, receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior
You got this! Degrees have no age to them! I will say that concepts and the way each instructor teaches are just as paramount as simply just knowing the material
Best of luck to you!
I'm a recent diploma on electrical grids ... what do you think 😅?
This channel has helped me immensly in deciding what I wanna do for the rest of my life. Thank you so much for the videos you make.
I'm so glad these are helping, thanks for the comment!
Me too but I'm 18 and finished school when I was 15 and wasted 3 years and I am regretting it
Faraz Gha. What do you do now after 4 years? What do u choose i’d like to hear ur opinion.
I too want to do what you went for
Hey buddy, how are you doing?
Imagine not being able to transport electricity over long distances practically
This was made by AC current gang
@Cyrus Malachi cool I wouldn't be able to get my Electricity from the start as the power plant is 10+ miles away. Oh wait its AC and I have a DC converter Hell Yeah
Imagine turning off because only one part of the circuit turned off. Yeah I’m talking about you DC currents, get good.
@@treyanimationz Hehehehehhehe imagine having a stationary magnetic field in your current and not being able to use transformers without rectifying your current
AC current = alternating current current
AC GANG! AOUH!
being an electrical engineering major i must say these classes are extremely difficult but immensely rewarding ... these are truly the hardest four years i have ever enjoyed
I did advanced electrodynamics in my physics honours year, that was fucky. Do you know if the electronics major has much scope beyond circuit theory? Because circuit theory sounds nice and contained.
by what ive experienced the scope is actually very broad though i cant tell you much considering my focus is mainly on power generation
I hope I can get through it all. First week in😂 any tips
Finished my first semester, barely passed through lmao @@PDaddy0120
You deserve more subscribers for the quality of your videos. Very informative and interesting.
Thank you sooooo much ! I was really curious to know about electrical engineering and probably this is the only playlist/video which does justice to it. Really appreciate the effort you have put in to make these videos . Thanks 😁👍
Perfect, each time I get doubt, I check your channel, and you have posted a video solving my doubt😄
Thank you so much for making these videos. There is a lot of information out there regarding Engineering Majors but the way you make your videos is perfect for how my brain works. All of your points are relevant and you never jump around topics or cause any confusion.
Thanks man! Yeah I remember very clearly looking into all this myself in high school and there was a lot I couldn't find info on. So when I make these videos I try to address everything I wish I had known that would've actually helped.
Love how your video breaks down each subsection of electrical engineering AND what classes to take to top it off
THX!
Your channel has really helped me and a lot of others a lot. Thank you.
I've understand and learned even more what Electrical Engineering is al about and you're explanation is way more logical than those crap teachers teach me all day.
you clearly do not pay attention in class
Yep the college professor are just like us😝
@@jamesrocco5512 no teachers are just idiots. Those who can’t do, teach.
Yo hi, to talk to you more about eee can u get your insta ID if you mind
Your videos are really helpful. As an incoming electrical/electronics student, this video really help when choosing your subjects. Good work, mate! Keep it up!
When I listen to these videos I remember my engineering roots and where I came from. This is why I chose EE. The theory and work is challenging, rewarding and fulfilling and there's wide degree of interesting applications for it. I just hope the field continues to grow in the future.
Hey sorry
I'm going to the university in a few months so I dont know which type of engineering to do
Which is better and has more opportunities between electrical electronics and electrical information engineering
Thanks for sharing your knowledge! I’m an RF Technician and studying electrical engineering. Your video motivates me to keep working harder.
you really gave an intensive insight into all fields , thanks!!
this is the best electrical engineer video i have seen soo far!, my career is focused in power, but it has some degree of control, electronics and rf, because everything needs the other, maybe some universities teach it more specialized, but this really shows it, not so deep, but deep enough.
You actually helped me in what I will go to college for or the rest of my life.
I wanted to take this to become an electrition and be more specialized. But seeing this gave me so many ideas for other cool jobs!
Really thankful for this video helped lot!
Thank you for helping me figure out what I'm going to do with my life!!!
Dude thanks for making this video, it's very helpful!
Your explanations are awesome! What a mind opener👏
Hey man these videos are very informative. Thank you so much. Definetly subscribing.
Thinking of switching my major to Electrical Engineering, I'm super interested in the power subfield. Thanks so much for this video!
did you go for it?
Yeah me too
Hey what happened
Im thinking about switching from mechanical to electrical engineering, math doesnt scare me but hearing how hard it is does worry me a little. I want to push myself and not be scared to do something just because I think its too hard. Im trying to decide if I will enjoy it enough to push through it
Wow, thank you for this video! I'm currently in the process of changing institutions and considering if I should take EE back up when I return to study.
So meaningful! We appreciate it!
electronics usually falls into 3 main fields of interest. Digital electronics, analogue electronics, optics and semiconductor technology.
the first one is related to computer design and emypded systems engineering more than the others while the last one is more of a sceince major and usually involved in a lot of research.
Thanks a lot for uploading this vid!Your explanations are really helpful and taught me a lot bout EE
happy to help!
U r doing great,I really appreciate and admire your help 👍🏻thankyou as much as you can count
Planning to go for EE and did even have faint idea of the fields in it, thanks a ton🙏🙏
Another great vid!
Good information needed!! Thanks
All your videos we're boring but this one changed my life. Thanks a lot
I took Antennas and Wireless Propogation, and Computer System Design as electives. I also just took Microelectronics which i really enjoyed, so I’m interested in getting into the RF circuit design field (a subset of analog electronics) , particularly designing these circuits for smart phones. But I’m also interested in bio tech which has some cross over into analog electronics. I really enjoyed the video its great and is helping me decide which direction I should try to go as I graduate.

You got it!
Great video! You my friend, are doing young minds a great service by providing this information!!! Keep it up!
Thanks Brian!
As someome who has been indecisive, I am definitely going with power I love renewable energy, signals and electronics are ight Power has caught my interest
Narrowed it down to power and electronics, thanks man
You got it!
Same here. Great content!
How's school going? I'm a freshman hoping to go into power or electronics too.
I was planning to take business management (marketing) in college because when I was doing labs with wires I found it difficult and just decided I won't do engineering. However, I was having second thoughts of me not hating it but I was glad I learned something to give me an idea. This led to me wanting to take electronics engineering technology. I might take it because I still have mixed feelings where I'm passionate to take it and not to take it of how difficult it is and probably might not do well. Thanks for your videos you helped me give an idea on how I can approach my path. Yes I still have one more year to finish high school.
I was hoping to do Aerospace engineering at first, but thanks to your videos I really noticed what interests me. Thank you for saving me a lot of time :)
Do both

I needed this. The drxn really helps the few of us who feel like we tossed a coin and said "I wanna be an engineer " and we got to class and say ohhh I like this but I donno where im going with this. #engineeringStudent
Wow, as someone who doesn't even know what to do with my life anymore, creating and building solar panels is probably one of the only things I would love to do for the rest of my life. Thank you for that. Subscribed!❤
You have to create something remarkable not just something unoriginal and simple but something extremely complex that would heal diseases and control the world with it
I'm currently in my last year of high school, with a love for Maths and Science. I plan on taking EE next year. :) this video has helped me immensely.
Thanks for the comment! Good luck in EE and hope you enjoy it!
How's it going after 4 years
Yoow how has life been?
thanx for this valuable info
awesome
keep up the good work
Thanks!
I absolutely love AND understand physics. Calculus is my favourite branch of maths but vectors. I hate vectors as much as a person can, line or 2d vectors are fine but my brain stops when it comes to plane and 3d vector. I left a 5 mark question in my a level physics exam that was on 3d vectors.
Finally a useful video
EE is a vast field. Gigantic. Even for an experienced EE is sometimes quite hard to choose which way to go...
It would be great if we could also learn their real life applications, and how to get ourselves ready for those (studying at home on our own before applying for a job etc and what exactly they do at work)
Wow such a clarity 👌!!!
This is like 20% of EE but it would take like a 3 hour video to cover most of it. You have fields like systems and signals, embedded systems, neural engineering(the best sub field ;) ), ML, Deep learning. There's a lot out there.
I'm doing hardware for controls right now and hoping to try out electronics next. If that doesn't work out, my end goal is power and specifically batteries for electric cars. (is what I am most interest in.) Wish me luck!
good video, congratulations, I'm already your new subscriber 👍 blessings 🙏🏻
Thanks a lot!
I always thought about being an electrical engineer. I worked in a TV repair shop at 16 yo in 1969. We had an electronics class in high school my junior year with only 5 students and 4 were seniors so there wasn’t a 2nd year. My grades weren’t that hot and the draft was going on so I enlisted in the Navy. I wanted to be a sonar tech on submarines like my brother 10 years older than me that was a Chief doing shore duty teaching in Key West. I got sent to avionics A school for 20 weeks where I finished in the top 10%. I ended up in a patrol squadron working on P-3s stationed out of Maine. At 20 years old I went to 10 different countries of which 4 months was staying in nice hotels in South America. At 21 I was running the night shift avionics shop with about 7-8 guys. I got out, worked hooking up electronics in submarines for a short time. Worked building jet engines for two years, quit and moved to Alaska. I worked in the oil field on the electronics used in oil well logging. We had different radioactive sources and types of detectors. We had tools that pulsed neutrons. We also had acoustic, resistivity, flow meters, temperature and even a listening tool. Did this for 8 years then went into telecommunications working all over Alaska and some overseas work. I worked along the pipeline delivering all types of data with fiber and microwave that had sonet output of 9 OC-3s. The microwave was supported by helicopters to mountains. My last 6 years I worked at a gateway earth station. I used to work closely with engineers figuring out problems. There was one thing I noticed about most of them and it was they sat in an office most of the day and they had a lot of meetings. Even as a tech I made over 100k my last 15 years of work. I had a job where I moved around. Heck I even used to snowshoe or snowmobile into gate valve building along the pipeline in the middle of the winter. I’d carry a fishing pole in the summer. Another thing about engineers is they are salary. My last job was union and with seniority job security was good. I’ve seen lots of engineers come and go because of a company’s changing environment. Technicians always have to fix or turn up circuits where after a big project there is always excess engineers.
Im in my 3rd year of electrical engineering, and never thought id say this, but im starting to have second thoughts. I love my classes and I love learning about new tech, but Im dreading a job where I just sit at a desk. I want to work in the field and do work similar to what youve done. For some reason when I entered school I didnt know that most jobs are in the office. I probably didnt do enough research. I still plan on finishing school because a lot of people are saying that its worth it because itll open many doors. But in the back of my mind I feel like itll be dumb to graduate with an engineering degree and then work a job not requiring education after all my years of schooling. Im just worried this is a "grass greener on the other side" scenario and I dont want to make any dumb decisions
@@peterquill6097 I actually went to a technical college for a year. We even learned electron physics and advanced math. All the classes were geared to our field of study. We even had a technical writing class and a technical speech class. I did ok but was married with a son. This was in 76-77. I went in the GI bill after my enlistment. Engineering wasn’t for me. I was a good technician and the go to guy on many communications problems and planning. I didn’t make what an engineer made, but if you add my last 15 years income up it was about $1.7 million. Even in the 1980s I was making about $70k a year. Not bad for a guy that finished in the bottom 10% of his high school class.
You can have this kind of job no worries complete your degree since it will boost your chances for jobs in general, you for sure can have some kind of desk job in a good position
@@Sekaisansen I hate a desk job. I liked using all sorts of test equipment moving around to different communications sites.
Good Video. Straight to the point and nice pace. Just reduce the background music a tad bit.
You can become a "Spacecraft Integration and Test Engineer".
They build, test, and Launch spacecraft for NASA and other customers.
I have been one for almost 30 years now and have even been on the Mission Operations team of three during the missions because I ended up knowing more than anyone else about how the hardware operates.
Thank god for the engineers that made it possible to rewind at the tap of a glass
Very helpful
Small mistake: the filter you show at 5:00 is a lowpass topology, but the response you link it to is a bandpass response. It could confuse some people.

Nice video bro...
It's good to hear that these specializations now exist. When I graduated in electrical engineering in 1996, there weren't any sub-field study options. It was just one, amorphous program. Shortly after I graduated, they started offering electronics and power options of specialization. Now, from what I heard, there are additional ones in computer engineering.
I can't necessarily speak to which is the best option, but my instincts tell me the computer option will be the most versatile.
As a current EE student I can't really say that computer concentration being the most versatile is necessarily true. Computer Engineering has actually put itself outside of the EE world and is starting to become its own thing. They do not they do not take classes in discrete time systems, analog electronics, controls systems, communication systems, electric machines, or electromagnetism. IEEE recently changed their curriculum to have less classes on basic circuits and electronics(ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/7344157/). However, they do take substantially more classes related to computer science. As a field, Computer Engineering is definitely starting to become closer to computer science than electrical engineering. Some universities offer computer and electrical engineering as combined programs, but most are starting to separate them. Electrical engineers that do want to work in areas related to computer engineering (at least at my school) like to focus more on embedded systems where they take classes like real-time operating systems, digital signal processing, and advanced digital design. Some of those get really interested in robotics and pursue classes such as digital control systems and mechatronics for their senior electives. For the more software and math oriented EEs, some universities are starting to offer machine learning related courses. Most are graduate courses, but allow undergrads to take them. My university offers Computer Vision, Pattern Recognition, and Computational Intelligence for EE's interested in this path and have been starting to see more Senior Projects related to these fields. But we're also starting to see a mix of interests such as those interested in both power and control systems. There's power electronics that is a good mix of (by no surprise) power and electronics. But again, most undergrads with this field of interest take the graduate level power electronics course for their Senior Elective where they learn about the control systems necessary in power electronic applications.
Hey, I've watched a couple of your videos, and I've got to say that I really love what you're doing. The graphics, pictures, & animation, along with the priceless information, is definitely a double header. They're really helpful, and are helping me choose & plan my path in life (after highschool). Keep it up, I'm such that some people out there are being affected by it; and I'm sure that you already know that, but I just felt like it had to be mansion. I also wanted to ask if you could do a video on "civil" and/or structural engineering. It'd really be helpful. I'm trying to go into a career of animation & visual effects, so your videos on computer science were really helpful; but I've also had an interest in civil engineering, and things having to deal with it. With today's population growth and industrial growth, I'm sure it's in high demand worldwide, so I've been considering it as a second option. Again, thanks, and keep up the good work.👍👌🤘🖒👏✌
Thanks for the comment! I'm so glad these are helping. And actually I'm probably going to have civil engineering up within the next week or two. So keep an eye out!

Hello guys. Am an electrical engineer and I specialized in RF. You won't regret doing EEE-trust me.❤️❤️❤️
Electrical Engineering is the indeed the most flexible engineering degree, you can get jobs in almost every field, I graduated EE and got to work with aerospace, software, hardware and many more!
How about if i want to work in space
They're missing some fields of electrical engineering. Like chip design(VHDL, Verilog ), board design, verification and etc it's a really huge field. Signal processing and image processing. Embedded systems. Electrical engineering is very versatile and you can specialized in many fields. I was specialized in Image processing and computers (chip design, VLSI, embedded ).
