  • An excellent overview and practical demonstration of how to propagate Venus Flytraps by Matze, owner of Green Jaws carnivorous nursery in Germany. With his decades of experience in growing these plants, his advice should be sound!
Please check out his nursery at green-jaws.com !

I'm surprised that osmocote was used in the substrate. It's usually recommended not to fertilize the substrate at all as that could damage the roots and eventually kill the plant. I wonder if this can be done with other carnivorous plants as well.
Do you know if it was a weak type of osmocote fertilizer?

I was asking my wife to be gentler with the plants while she was helping me with the black traps.. I'm getting conflicting information on how to deal with black traps and whether or not to clip them off? what do you do with the black traps that look to be dying?

When i split and repot mine, they get shocked and their growth slows or stops for the year, and there's a chap who just drops them on the table, crazy!

@@housecreeper I don't use any stones under the soil. Just carnivorous plant mix all the way through so it can effectively wick water :)
