  • In Avinu Malkenu, we stand before the open Ark and ask the Divine to hear our plea, be gracious and answer us, deal with us justly and save us. We sing this at every service during the High Holy Days. This is one that will stick with you.

i've been looking all over the place for this song sung acapella with no instruments and a choir like it would be in the synagogue but I aint been able to find it. I wanted to show non jewish friends and loved ones the sort of things that we sing. It would be nice if it was a longer version like it would be on yom kippur as well

It is in fact chonenu, as you say. A kamatz katan. I should really get around to re-recording it properly, but of course then we'd love all those lovely 32,550 hits! But yes, learners beware: it should be chonenu, not chanenu.

It's a common melody; search around on iTunes. Undoubtedly someone has recorded it!

Nice voice as usual, Cantor Keller. Needs the "real" Hebrew too. So
    חננו
is pronounced chonenu, like oh, not chanenu, like ah? My choir's sheet music says "chaw-neinu". Is it a kamatz gadol or katan?
