2019 - 2022 Chevy Silverado NO REMOTE DETECTED - How To Start Chevrolet With Dead Key Fob Battery

- A quick video tutorial on how to start a 2019 - 2022 Chevy Silverado with a remote key fob that has a dead battery or is showing the error message "No Remote Detected".
According to the Chevrolet Silverado owners manual, If the remote key fob battery is weak the DIC may display ACTION REQUIRED NO REMOTE DETECTED or PLACE TRANSMITTER IN POCKET TO START when you try to start the Silverado. The DIC may also display REPLACE BATTERY IN REMOTE KEY and the traverse won't start.
To start A Chevy Silverado showing No Remote Detected:
1. Open the center console and place the bad or dead remote key fob in the transmitter pocket with the buttons facing the Roof of the Chevy Silverado.
2. Press the brake pedal and press ENGINE START/STOP.

This just happened to us today while we were camped in the woods with no cell sevice. We were loaded to come home and my remote wouldn't work. I took my wife's car remote and used her battery. Nothing. She is looking through the manual and fortunately located that page you showed where to place the remote. Our truck started right up. Were we ever thankful. I had to look on CZcams to see if others had this same problem as how I found this video. Great video.

Fob was dead, truck was locked & owner's manual was inside LOCKED truck. Driver's can be in a real bind until they think to ask themselves "what now". Learned how to replace battery but then questioned "how do I start my push-button start truck?"

I have a 2022 GMC Sierra AT4, and occasionally, I'll go out to get in my truck and push the door handle button. It won't unlock even though the key fob is in my pocket. I've even got in the truck and pushed the start button. I got the message no key fob even though the key fob was in my pocket. I opened the door, closed it, and hit the start, and it started; I changed the battery, and so far, it hasn't happened again, but the battery I took out was showing 3 V.
I tried the battery and placing the fob in different areas but nothing any ideas
I have this same exact truck but it doesn’t work for me is there another spot or is this the only
I changed battery in fob. Can start it with fob in cup holder. But I can’t lock unlock remote start or anything
There may be an issue with the new battery.
I’m having issues with my key fob not working at all(lock/unlock/remote start). Extra key fob is also not working. Will be swapping out batteries but wondering if you’ve ran into same issue?
**Update** I’ve learned that newer Chevy trucks run updates on their own when shut off. This may be the issue many have ran into. Mine has worked perfectly fine ever since and I’ve had no issues with the key fob for the last year
if both key fob are not working, there may be an issue with the vehicle itself

@@nissan72086 I went into a restaurant and when I came out it had automatically updated. It was super weird. You may have to hook it up to wifi for it to run it’s system updates. My patrol Tahoe has done similar things for instance my CarPlay/Bluetooth did not work until it ran its update.

That’s fine but how do you get inside the car if it was locked?
Use the emergency key that is in the bottom of the key fob to unlock the drivers door. The alarm will sounds when the door is opened - use the backup starting method shown in this video to turn the alarm off
@@PYR-Auto ok, got it. Thanks. Why does GM keep moving the transponder location around? Cup holder, console front, console rear, space between the cups!! People work best with process consistency.

How does it do that?
There is a chip reader under that part of the cupholder that can read a chip in the key fob if the key fob is held close enough, even if the key fob has no power.
Hello both of my key fobs stopped working this morning but yesterday was all fine and I did what was said in the video and my truck is just fully dead for some reason any help please?
