When the first emperor of China passed away in 210 B.C., he was buried with an army of over 8,000 sculpted figures to protect him in the afterlife. The massive force was carved out of reddish clay, and after being unearthed in 1974 became known as the Terracotta Army. An archaic monument and a pair of stealthy sneakers might seem worlds apart, but not to Edison Chen-designer and founder of CLOT-whose core philosophy revolves around the bridging of Eastern and Western design.
Taking inspiration from that underground infantry, this Air Jordan 14 utilizes a mix of matted suedes and earthy textures to create a look that’s equal parts ancient and innovative. The silhouette features a heavy-duty build that mimics armor and a metal medallion on the heel, and also sports an esoteric hangtag depicting a venerable warrior en route to the rim.

When I first saw these, my first thought really was, work of art. I had this on my list for a long time because these were reselling for pretty much retail here in Europe. But, I figured I wouldn’t really wear these for multiple reasons and would just end up a display piece, so I still haven’t copped a pair.

After all these years. They(Jordan brand) haven’t fingered out how to stop the side panels from creasing.
I bought it as a nice display piece, with no intention of ever going on feet... wouldn't know what to wear with them!

I don't usually care much for designer collaborations but the concept and execution here is fantastic. Wouldn't mind picking up a pair some time.
I love the way these look, but that coin bangs against your foot with every step.
I haven't even worn mine outside yet because I haven't summoned up the courage to cut those coins off and ruin one of the most unique features of the shoe.😟
