bad ruter a friend got one of this & lan stoped working afther he moved on 300mbps from providerso speed & range was very bad with this dir-615, found him a tp-link archer c2 dual band & now he can enjoy his full speed

I just bought one of these used H/W Ver:A1 and I can't seem to get it to work for the life of me. I've reset the Modem/Router and then reset the D-Link router but there's only three lights coming on the D-Link Router. One of them is the power light, one of them is for the computer that I've got plugged into it and then the last one is what looks like three circles that are in the shape of a triangle. The main Modem/Router is definitely connected to the internet but for some reason the second one isn't able to make a connection. When I run the D-Link software on my Windows 10 PC it gives me an error message saying Error 322: New Router Not Detected.
Why is there no Reboot option like the other Dlinks models? This one has no Maintenance Tab

I'm planning to buy a new router hoping that this one is capable of "ALLOWING" only a specific list of website to access not by just blocking a list of website. Like accessing only google, yahoo mail, wikipedia and company homepage for example, the rest not included on the list are blocked. And on a specific computer to have it on effect would be even better. Can't seem to know a hardware to meet these requirement, I'm a new tech on networking.

I have had 5 routers in all, and the d-link DIR-615 one is and was the WORSE one I've EVER had the misfortune of owning. It's sitting in the box waiting it's inevitable destruction. Within minutes of setting it up, I got constant inquiries from my kids asking why the internet was down "again". All the tricks & firmware updates & factory resets didn't help worth squat, but you know what? if you like it then enjoy it, but I have the right to warn people of it's terrible performance.

Even the date and time not showing correctly after setting time zone. Internet port seems loose, the wire clip not attached tightly

+Benjamin Kinney I have been trying to figure out how to do this. I have a modem with multiple ethernet ports. I want one to connect directly to my computer and another to connect from the modem to the D-Link. It does not work this way. How do I get it to work this way. Internet is faster when it connects directly to my computer. I dont understand why the D-Link Wireless router cannot work when connected directly from modem, and not connected to the computer. Why does it need to be connected to the computer.?

Whichever way you set this router up, it's a crappy router. Worse one I've ever had the displeasure of owning. Buy an Asus RT-n12 instead of this D-link piece of crap!
is your Asus is really good? What is the exact model you have? The N300?
I have this D-Link with that dropping connection issue! i have to disconect it and only use my modem to be able to play on Xbox live without issue! And very often when i exit the hybernate mode i have no more connection to the internet...

As far as stability goes, it's awesome. The range (according to some reviews), is not great, but in my bungalow, I have no issues with signal strength. My router is in the basement, and my laptop upstairs has 4.5 bars, so not bad for me. I would imagine if you have a 3 story home you may need a repeater router to boost your signal. For me I put the same router (as a repeater) in my outside shop and signal went from "Low" to "Excellent". Both routers I bought are the Asus RT-N12 (D1). This is the exact link where I bought it, so you can see it for yourself www.ncix.com/detail/asus-rt-n12-d1-n300-3-in-f8-87428-1229.htm Router was VERY easy to setup, and looks cool. A couple of things you should know, it's NOT dual band router, and there's no Gigabit connection or USB. For me it's not an issue, can still stream videos ok, with minimum issues. Well from what I read Dual band routers are supposed to be better (speed-wise) when hooking up several wireless devices through it, as well as video streaming. For me, here I have had plenty of wireless devices running though my router, and I have not heard any complaints from my kids or anyone, that they could not access the internet or that anything was running slow. You may want to consider a Dual-band router, but for me I have no real need to get one yet, but I do have one in mind should it ever be on sale, and that would be this one www.ncix.com/detail/asus-rt-n56u-dual-band-4-c1-59257.htm Now I cannot comment on weather or not it's as good as mine, but if it ever gets to 40% off, and within my limited budget, that's the one I'm going to get. I don't know much about tp-link, but to me it sounds too much like d-link that I don't trust it yet. Too bad they didn't pick another name, I might have considered one of their routers otherwise.
