These blinds with trying to guess the price are honestly one of my favorites, great job
Rebecca did a fantastic job. Love the split on low/budget, mid, and premium/allocated.
OGD BIB is testament to why I'm just not willing to spend more than $70 on a bottle anymore. There's too much value in the middle. Most of my favorite sippers are in the $40 price range.
That's why I am a big fan of new entries in the market trying to compete at that price or even lower while elevating the quality compared to what's been there in the past. Companies who do that are much more likely to get people to try something new as well as repeat buy. The new Jim Beam, Benchmark and Green River show that among others in the last couple of years.
You're not wrong but it's not to say particular qualities in a higher priced bottle are not worth it to someone else.
I am in your camp 100%.
Closest without going over is not the best way. It should be closest period. If someone is one over and the other is 20 behind, who guessed better?
i agree with this!
Yes! Also, they should not know what the other's guess is. Should just right it down. That way, you have to guess as close as you can to the price. Otherwise your guess is just based on strategy, so the 1st person should always guess low, as to not go over & the 2nd player either guesses 1 penny higher or lower.. But if they want to guess outloud, you have to alternate on who goes 1st, as whoever guesses 2nd has a huge advantage.
Then Kurt's perfect recreation of the price is right theme wouldn't make any sense
This video is a “testament” to how overpriced bourbon has become.
Agreed
Yep. I'm done paying for expensive bottles because the labels are cool or the internet says buy it. I'm buying what I like. Buffalo Trace $27.99. Eagle Rare at retail, $36.99. Found 4 bottles over 4 months at retail at a grocery store. That's done though. Haven't had it and they removed the barcode/label off the shelf.
@@svt32vdohcI'll stick with Old Forester 100 as a go to bottle. Certainly packs in a ton of flavor and is easy on the wallet
@@buckbryant8599 I was thinking the very same thing!
100%!
I love it when "Mom" picks the bottles!
yeah, It feels less mean spirited than when they pour fireball for each other in a blind.
Trenton is sleeping outside.
How about doing this with Irish whiskey
I'm really loving this format. Thanks to Mom for the totally random picks. It just proves how well budget bourbons can compare/compete with over-priced juice.
While I enjoy this video, you guys shouldn't be concerned with going over, just whoever is closer. No need to stick to the price is right format. Love the content!
OGD is highly under rated. OGD 114 IS WHERE ITS AT. That will beat more than it should in a blind....
Just goes to show you, OGD BIB is one of the best values in bourbon!
Ya man, it's at the front of my shelf. Makes a killer Manhattan.
One of my favorite bourbons and stays on my bar.
Absolutely- I keep that & the 114 in the cabinet at all times. Outstanding bourbon for the $.
Thanks to you two, I have several Bourbons and Rye Whiskeys in my small bar to choose from for an evening pour (neat). My wife has martinis that she enjoys having me make for her.... And think that before Covid I really didn't have a bar. But I started watching bar videos starting with yours and can now entertain family and friends. I watch fishing , cooking and hunting videos also. I'm 76 years old and still enjoying all of life...
Shows you how much A BRAND influences value
Love the concept but i think you should go with whoever is closest, even if i the prediction goes over. That seems more fair.
It should be closest to the actual price period, not closest without going over. That removes any shenanigans with trying to guess lower or higher than the other person. You're trying to artificially remove that at present even though the rules incentivize it.
I like this series. BIB rules! I will have to celebrate and drink some tonight! Thanks for the shout out too. Great job Rebecca!
I really like this idea of doing almost a gameshow aspect for blinds. If u guys do another one, it would be better to keep the price guess written down or blind as well to keep any bias from the other's guess. Then u tell each other the prices at the end after u have written them down. Another fun one would be like an O/U betting line. You have 4-5 glasses and someone sets a price and Kurt and Trenton need to guess over/under the actual value of the bottle. I loved how the OGD u both picked close to $70 and its only a $25 bottle. Shows how underrated it is and I know Trenton likes the ryes and that has a high rye mash bill.
Good Video! OGD is a testament to good inexpensive whiskey still being available. Thanks!
Let me tell you a story from today about price. In Nashville and just went to Whiskey River Saloon.
I ordered a Weller Single Barrel and neglected to notice the price. Bartender climbed a ladder and walked across bar to reach the top shelf....All the while I was ignorant.....$145 for one ounce. Embarrassed of my idiocy, I slunk back to my table with booze in hand.
I drank it...very slowly......I expected some kind of magic to happen. It did not.
Price is not correlated to quality in the whiskey world. Now I just feel stupid
I'm absolutely loving this series! I would recommend both of you writing your scores and locking in before revealing. It's more fun when you're not influencing each other and just going off the taste.
😂😂 the pretzel... Great picks Mom! You could do a "10 year blind". Something like McKenna 10 year, Eagle Rare 10, and Jack Daniels 10 year
Great job on these picks Rebecca, love these videos! For the next one I think picking Old Grand Dad 114 (to see if it does better or worse than their guesses for the bottled in bond) would be an awesome idea. For the other two: Maker's Mark 46 Cask Strength since it's done so well in other blinds, and maybe something pricier like a Jack Daniels 10 year? Look forward to whatever you choose!
You mentioned maybe your favorite pretzels. Remember Barb’s bourbon pretzels from last years meet up? I love when she makes them for me. I can watch your videos, have a dram, and munch on Clancys bourbon pretzels!
Definitely want to see more of these videos! And props to mom! Good picks. I kinda like her picking out the bottles all on her own instead of getting recommendations. Then it truly is a complete blind since she isn't well versed in the bottles. With that being said, she did a fantastic job!
Love this series should make a slight modification to just the closest one pricewise in general over under doesn’t matter
Love the game. I think not saying the prices until the end would be best. I also like the idea of bonus points for distillery and product.
These videos are phenomenal. Huge Price is Right fan here so this is the blend of two of my favorite things. A few wild cards to throw in the next one could be Benchmark Full Proof, Bulleit 12yr Rye, and Ancient Ancient Age 10 Star.
Love the blind pricing. Great idea moving forward
I've never had the OGD Bonded. We get the 114 here, but not the Bonded for some reason.
Kurt trolling Rebecca with the schnozzz story 😂
Gotta have a tie breaker at least! It was a great blind. Well done “Mom”!! Rebecca… thoughts on some bottles… Old Forester 100, Jim Beam 7yr, Barrel Bourbon Seagrass for a wild card.
Gimmicky AF but because it's these two guys, it works. Love it!
Had to take my wife to get her hair done. And while I waited I walked over the the grocery store and got me a $22.00 bottle of Old Grand Dad bottled and bond....... Price is Right!!!!!!!!!!! Back home now and finishing this great video. Thanks Guys....
I keep a bottle of Old Grandad Bonded on the shelf for cocktails (great in a Paper Airplane), but I don’t remember trying it neat. Now I’m curious.
I think this is the perfect series, it gives us a good perspective on what a whiskey at first visit really is worth. Perfect example is how Old Grand Dad was perceived as so much higher in quality than the other two for its actual price point. And, its fun!
Same with JTS Brown BiB. So underrated but absolutely delicious. Goes to show that price doesn’t equal quality.
Fun video! Enjoy the outdoor snooze tonight:)
Now I'm looking for an OGD Bonded. Fun video and informative...thank you all🥃
Love these "Price is Right" blinds!!
Love the "Price is Right" videos. Keep 'em coming, please. Idea for the next one, stay with one distillary and have a bargain pour, mid tier and top shelf pour. Example, BT series, Benchmark Full Proof, Blantons and a BTAC pour. Or some other similar line up from another single distillary. Just an idea. But love the videos! Thanks for all you do!!
Love the "Price is Right" videos. Great, varied lineup this time. Makes me want to run out and grab an OGD BiB like now...
should've done the slow chew!! LOL great video gents!
Phenomenal show, thanks Mom for the great picks. Love that a budget bourbon got that much love!!!!
Too funny, love this format!
I honestly really enjoyed this video. Was fun to watch, informative on how these bottle stacked up in only opinions without even know what it is, and just overall entertaining.
Sipping on a OGD BiB Old Fashioned right now, and it’s on sale for 19.99 at my local store so I guess I’ll have to go get myself a couple of backups 👌
Its difficult to drink with y’all this early in the morning. But I gotta do it
Love this video! Super fun… can’t wait till the next 1!
Awesome video guys! I love the price is right concept. I think next time, set up a row of 10-15 bourbons of either high or low price and have mom pick from those, so you guys have a ballpark to try from. You could do a budget price-is-right or a unicorn one!
Yes to favorite bar snacks too!
Love the Concept. Enjoy watching
Best game ever. Do more please. Lol
You guys really should just go with closest price wins. Rather than have to play a game with pricing, you can use your best judgment on what it should cost
Trenton: "I got this its $20 and wild Turkey Product!" You sure about that? Trenton: "Uhm" lol
Love the new format! Only thing I'd change is revealing who is right after each pour and keeping a tally. I think seeing y'all know your place in the contest and how that changes your performance in the contest is super entertaining in the T.V. gameshow sense. Cheers to helping folks not waste their money on overpriced pours in bad economic times and highlighting the "bang for your buck" pours!
Thanks for attending my T.E.D. Talk.
Best bar snacks would be awesome. If you can pair it as well that would be a great episode.
Trenton and Kurton know mom was on her game today!
Great video, love this format. Thanks for another fun one.
Just tried Buffalo Trace Traveller whiskey today. The liquor store required that I buy it in order to buy a bottle of Blantons. I’m so glad they did! It’s delicious!!!
Great choices today! Next blind: Cooper's Craft 100, 1792 Single Barrel, and Russell's Reserve 13 year.
Loving this format
Well tonight I had some Old Grand Dad Bottle and Bond neat...... and yes it is really nice. Thanks for the Tip..
I love these blinds. So fun. Please continue this great game !!!
Great blind!
Next one:
four roses limited edition.
Michters 10 year rye.
Makers mark cask strength.
Love this game! Keep them coming!!! 👍
I bought both those Ol'New Riffs too. I can't wait to go pick them up and try them!
Really enjoy these! A lot of fun.
You guys should do this on a points system.
Closest to price gets 1 point (if both are over)
Closest to price gets 2 points (if at least one is under)
Exact price guess gets 5 points
Also need to write guesses down to not influence each other
Enjoying these videos
Good video ! it's nice to have some cheaper ones and expensive ones.
That was a fun video
RE first glass: There is a "Coca Cola" like finish Good Times product - "Good Old Times Heavy Char Double Vanilla Mexican Vanilla Cola" (8.5yr, 110proof, San Diego Bourbon & Scotch Sharing pick)
Great Job - Mom, Perhaps a good Peated Scotch Blind for Trenton to enjoy. Bar snacks would be interesting...
I love this series. Love the reactions on the reveal. My own included!
Like has been said a number of times in the Comments on a previous game show episode, y'all should go with *who is closest* and drop the "closest without going over." Or we get what happened today in this episode with Kurt admitting that, with his guess of $45, he was just "playing the game" but his *actual assessment* of the value was $75.
The proper & only strategy based on the rules they are using is: The player who picks 2nd, states a price either 1 penny/$0.01 higher or lower that the 1st players guess, or simply says "higher" or "lower". That is why there should be no penalty for guessing over & each player should submit their price guess in the "dark", meaning the other player is unaware of it.
Genuinely fun and educational.
Alot of fun, keep doing these
Bar snack video would be great!
Absolute roller coaster of an episode!
Funny how Kurt said, "Lucky, if you're Lucky" right before the Lucky Seven popped up ...clairvoyant? 😅
Nice win OGD!
You should just do these type of vids with the intent to give your opinion on what the current price is or give 2 guesses; 1 being what you think the price is, & the 2nd being what you think it is really worth or what you would be happy to pay for it. Otherwise it's just more of a competition between you 2 & your guess does not best reflect what you really think of the whiskey.
To do this, just write down your guess so the other person does not know. Also, have no penalty for guessing over. Closest guess wins, period.
I really like this format and competition. Great idea Kurt and Trenton .
Loved it!
I appreciate this channel so much 🙂
great show concept!!!!
This just shows how good a $23 bottle can be, and what a great value Old Grandad BIB is!
Top FIVE BAR snacks!
Blind tasting with pricing.
Willet Pot Still
Japanese whiskey
Rebel
I would love to see a distillery review episode with several of the lucky 7 bottles. I’m a big fan of their whiskey and it seems like most people aren’t aware of their quality. I believe they source from Barton.
Another fantastic Friday blind
Props Mom!!
I'd love to see Blantoms Straight from the Barrel, Birthday bourbon and a four roses single barrel
very funny love it,on the fly rule making
Mom, has her Bourbon pick going on!
Bar snack that match a good Bourbon definitely,
i love these because it shows even experts really can be stymied by whisky!
A is good stuff. It lacks, of course, the power of the 114, but the Old Grand-Dad bonded still has the flavor.
4:30 Trenton, you're *way* off. Kurt so are you. But that's a testament to just how good it is. 🥃
I don't know B or C, alas.
I received my SLB shirt yesterday! I can't wait to wear it. I plan on wearing it the next time I visit Glenns Creek Distillery. Thanks!
The paper towel thing is why I watch these ... fun video today, guys.
Great job Mom!
Bar snacks!!!!! Heck yes! 😃 (I love me something pickled.....)
Great video
You could do a Card Sharks (rather than Price is Right) format. First person names a number and second person chooses over or under.
This is the most fun game you guys play.
Bar snacks, try Utz extra dark pretzels!
