- Building the Ultimate Single Garage Workshop requires out-of-the-box thinking. Multi-functional organization and storage is how I hope to achieve this goal.
I considered an alternative storage method for spray paint and chemical cans in this video. Quick and unrestricted access to the stored cans was my focus with this design, so I went for a non-conventional storage approach.

Yes PLANS please. I think I could figure it out if I watch the video a couple more times, but the plans would be great to have.
With a little modification, this design could use corner space. To me, corner space is usually a problem because of the limits on accessing it. A paint carousel in the corner sounds like a win-win.
Always a good day when a new Workshop Junkies video shows up on my CZcams feed!
Never heard of him
Best rattle can storage I’ve seen yet! Genius! Very small footprint and I love that it’s expandable!
You’ve got me hooked because you “think outside the box” with everything you make. It’s refreshing to have your new perspective on age-old storage problems. And yes, I would buy plans if you made them available.
Genius. I love that it is hanging on a French cleat. If you live in a colder climate ( and have an unheated workshop) you can easily move the whole unit inside to keep warm.
Or if you live in a very Hot area (Think Arizona) and have an uncooled space you can take it inside to keep it cool. Believe me overheated spray cans can and do Explode if you try to shake them. Don't ask how I know that.😀
Your comment has a tremendous impact on the climate change or the fridge temperature in my house.
Basically, just put up all your plans 😂 🎉 ❤ Awesome 👌
Plans would make life easier----and we all need that
I would like the plans for the lazy Susan can storage please, thank you. This is brilliant! Wish I had thought of this. I think I will go a few more layers for larger can storage as well! Thank you for your work
You basically made a curio cabinet for cans ....Nice job!....all you need now is to install some lights in it lol
And a wi-fi link so that you can pre-select the can on a phone app
RGB FTW!😂
Great project mate, would love to see some plans on this. Can’t wait to see what’s next
realiy enjoy all video projects & hope to see plans available for SPRAY PAINT & CHEMICAL CANS STORAGE
I think that will be my first favourite channel. I follow woodworking from 15 years and there are a lot of very good workers…. But that one is a very very nice master of idea! I love it!
Great idea, Plans would be great. Love how you're updating what was already a great small garage workshop
I love the ingenuity on the things you build. Most of the things you build I'm just like, "that's really functional, but so cool too". Nice work.
Love your ingenuity mate, great project, simple but very clever and all done with tools we could all have, no space lasers or AI controlled cnc in sight. Approachable woodworking!
As always, OUR guy builds yet another awesome "Gem". Thank you kind Sir.❤
Amazing work once again. I love all your videos and small projects. Please can we have the plans for this project?
As with all of your projects, this was very well thought out and the end result is a VERY functional "rattle" can storage round a bout! ! !!!
Mi amigo, la verdad que cuando ví las cosas que haces...quedé impactado !!! Son geniales, gracias por compartir
What a brilliant idea! Fairly simple, practical, functional, as attractive as one might hope for in a workshop, and well within the skill set of the average home duffer.. very well done indeed! 👍
Fabulous! What an enviable degree of paint organization! Love it! Your garage is looking so good now. Learning a lot from you, thank you!!
Wonderful idea and tutorial!
I can see one alteration to help keep dust out:
1. Make the top & bottom plates without the hand cutouts.
2. Mount a piano hinge from top to bottom on one side or the other of the front access.
3. Mount a plexiglass or thin plywood/hardboard door with handle to the hinge.
You make so many amazing things for a small workshop, how can I not want the plans for this one too. Yes please.
Love the project! I happen to be blessed with a huge shop space in my basement. Nevertheless, Boyle's law of gasses implies stuff will expand to occupy whatever space is available. Thus storage projects like this one are immensely important to preserve maximum working space for furniture pieces, doors etc. Gonna get the plans for sure. Thanks
Aside from plexiglass limiting the access significantly, this is something I will be doing for my can storage. Well done and very space saving project.
Could always put hinges on the plexiglass...
Brilliant work, Jean! Really well done! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thats really mint work and really excellent and it's better then the other one what you made before nice one mate and I love the wood work u do😊🎉
This is neat and functional.. Deffo a must for smaller workshops!
That was so satisfying watching you put the cans away haha
This is so cool. I love everything about it. More complicated than I would chose to build but I must say this is super slick and was a load of fun to watch! Can’t wait for your next creation! Cheers
Yes I would like plans for this project
For an OCD hobbyist/organizer like myself, your videos are a MUST when watch whenever they come out! This video is awesome! I can finally get rid of that ugly, cheap metal cabinet containing all my paint/stain cans.
I love the rattle can storage!Very well thought out!
Brilliant! Never overdone. This design will keep the dust and debre out for the most part with maybe an annual vacuuming. I also have a tiny,10' x 16' shop and this design has a very small footprint. My only issue which only applies to those who experience winter and do not keep their shops heated when not in there. I would have to remove the unit as I do with glues and bring them inside a heated space. My shop is has its own 200amp service, fully insulated and takes less than 30 minutes on a below freezing day, to get the temp up to 60 which for me is perfect. That is with one space heater. With the mini Woodstock it will get hot in 30 minutes and only use it on very cold days
Outstanding work as usual.
In my opinion the plexiglass is overkill.
Limits the direction of the hand entering and leaving the cabinet.
I would hit it with my knuckles far too often.
If you reach in, with your hand horizontal (like flat on a table) you can
grasp the cans/bottles from the top, without banging anything. 😁✌🖖
Make the opening larger! I have huge hands! I have to modify it to fit my size hands
@@zapa1pnt That would require retraining on my part.
@@shawnr771: Well then, you can make the plexi panels narrower, making the opening wider, Or leave the panels off.
@@zapa1pnt Yes I would leave the panels off.
Looks cool. Does not really add to the functionality for me.
I liked the older version that folded out.
Although I am personally partial to a shelf.
I keep paints and other sprayables separated.
Paint, Mechanical Lubricants, Insect repellants etc.
The solutions you come up with for compact storage always amaze me. Great Vid!
Very nice work.
Cool. Something to watch later today 👍
I hope you enjoy it!
@@WoodshopJunkies I like all your videos 😉
I love this design and can think of other uses for this project. Thanks for the video!❤😊
Fantastic idea.
Yes, I would buy plans.
Thanks for sharing mate.
Great storage idea. Don’t need the plans, I can just wing it. NOT!! I would love to get the detailed plans on this build. As a DIYer these type of projects are right up my alley. Challenging but doable. Thanks for the Vid
Awesome build. Plexiglass I think I'd a good idea. Keeps dust out and just finishes off the project.
That's dope! very nice build👍🏻
Nice, -and hangs on the cleat system too👍 Personally I would have tried a roof shelf, but the way things always fall down around me means having to wear a helmet in the workshop😇
You had me all over the place. from this is stupid to this is actually really nice to wow. Very nice build, loved to see the skills. The space is a lot less then i expected. Not sold on the plexy glass, because i know i will hit/scrape it with my hand. But it looks stellar.
Day 2 of demanding plans for this amazing piece of art.
This is a great project and I like being able to see all the products. It also takes up less space than my current solution. Plans would be great!
bought the plans tonight - thank you very much!
I would like the plans. Very nice.
Cool.Could serve as a cool corner fill-up as well with some modeifications (just like the kitchen carousels)
As always, great ideas. Please keep them coming. Great video
I'd like to make this but as a spice rack instead. Thanks for the Video. Another amazing project as usual.
Superb design.👏🏼
Great idea! One thing if you left a gap in each layer of storage like the gap in the base you would save a lot of height and only lose one can space.
Belle réalisation, bien étudiée et très bien réalisée, bravo, à bientôt salut Jeannot ⚒😉
Excellent storage idea. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for the great video!
Love this spray can / glue storage unit...I would love to have plans for this!
Amazing work 👏
Great yes i will deffo be buying the plans for this thank you
You only need a single hole, not 4 for connecting the 2nd side of the “Lazy Susan”. Just rotate after putting in a screw to be able to put the next screw in.
Great idea!
Great idea as usual. Enjoy your content very much, as I only have a small workspace. I will be waiting on the plans to pop up in the TWP shop. Cheers 🇦🇺
Fantastic idea! Great video. 👍🏼👍🏼 I would definitely buy plans for this.
Good build👍. Thank you!!
Really smart solution.
Lovely work Sir!!
Super idea.
Nice. But I wouldn’t have added the plexiglass, it seems way less convenient.
Probably helps to keep the dust out.
Excellent presentation 👏
Brilliant! I’d like the plans please
Looks great! I think I'd forget the plexiglass panels though.
Very nice! I will get a copy of the plans...I may want to try making mine out of oak or something to just for looks...Either way, brilliant!
Very cool.
Very nice
Nicely done sir!
Thank you for sharing. Very nice👍
A more space/volume efficient method would be a series of vertical pantry pullout drawers one can width plus a bit wide, maybe 4 cans deep, 3 or 4 cans high depending on need. You could add pullouts as req'd. Would need solid full extension slides above & below, probably flatwise mount type would be best. You'd get 36 cans in about the same volume as the rotating version here
A stack of square boxes, in the corner, would be more efficient but certainly not as convenient. It's a matter of balance. 😁✌🖖
fantastic! 😍
Nice solution for the can's!
You need to get yourself bigger supply of glue (like a 5lt bucket) and make an easy glue dispenser for it 😅
Bar in the shop with Titebond on tap...
Brilliant work. This is so cool 👏👏
I feel like the plexy glass obstructs the ergonomics of spinning the cans, the side planks are ok but the glass made you spin the cans a bit more cautiously
There is a slightly less complicated way to put the Lazy Susan bearing in place. You mark out the 90 degrees lines as you did, then a circle passing thru the place where the screws will go. On ONE piece drill a larger hole that your screw driver will easily fit thru on the circle offset 45 degrees from the rest of the places the screws are going to go. Now screw the Lazy Susan to the piece with the extra hole - regular wood screws, countersunk or pan head, not bolts with nuts and washers. Turn that assembly over and rotate the bearing so you can see an empty hole in the Lazy Susan thru the larger hole, place the assembly so the empty hole lines up with the mark for the screw, fix the screw in place thru the hole, rotate and repeat for the remaining 3 screws. No nuts to come loose with this method. I've seen this as the 'normal' way to install a Lazy Susan in publications like Fine Woodworking, Woodsmith/Shop Notes and Popular Woodworking as well as numerous DIY books.
Plans yes!!
Nice one mate! Really good idea!
The plexiglass allows sight, but why narrow your reach-in ability? I'm not sure if I have this many cans, which makes me think I need something like this! 🤔
Cool build. Thanks for sharing!
very clever
wow awesome
I love it. It is fantastic.
Very well thought out idea, Jean! Nothing worse than having to shuffle around lots of bottles and cans to get to that one can in the back! Not sure if adding the plexiglass would be a good idea for me, I'd probable have it all scratched up in no time...
Absolutely awesome design but honestly I'd have skipped the acrylic - I think it would just make it more difficult to grab stuff out of the rack and doesn't really add anything.
Issues with Plans ??
This is a great storage solution for a small workshop. Like you, I have a single car garage and am always looking for extra space.
I recently bought your plans for this and the Ultimate Tool Storage unit, but have come across a couple of issues on the can Carousel.
On Sheet 1/12 showing the cutting list, it shows part number WJ-015-014 as having a quantity of "11".
I'm pretty sure this should actually be "1" ??.
Also, in your Amazon links, it links to some Perspex which is only 750mm long, but the plans say that this needs to be 890mm long so would be too short.
Not found any other issues yet and hope you don't mind me highlighting these so that you can possibly update things.
I'm really looking forward to building one of these, possibly even two.
Great work!
Excellent idea and video. But I wonder.. you restricted your access from 3 cans per tier to 1 can per tier by adding the plexiglass.
If you’re like me and spray paint, might as well start building the extension now!
that's awesome
i would love the plans please
The spray can storage round about is awesome I would like the blue print or the dimensions
would love the plans.
Very satisfying, how much time do you spend just spinning the sections?! 😂
Great work Jean, thank you! 👍
