- Official Simple Little Life video of making a rocket stove. A project I've wanted to do for several years and finally got around to it. Works well, and it produces a lot of heat for very little fuel used.

About Simple Little Life:
This channel has sort of turned (inadvertently) into a knife making channel. But the original idea behind what we wanted it to be is this description below:
Videos on our journey to homesteading. With a recent purchase of a little piece of the Alberta prairie, we're looking to sell our nice suburban home in search of a more meaningful life beyond chasing the "American dream" working for some big company and making someone else rich. It's not about the money, it's about getting the most value from the work I do to improving the life of my family.
Some preparedness, DIY, building quality things with your hands, guns, gear, and outdoor exploration.
That band saw is a beast! I've heated my shop with a rocket stove for 5 years now, I used 2 Calor (butane) bottles. No going back. Great video, thanks.
couldn't stop watching. great style of vid
Thanks!
I was a weldor in a shop for 17years. Really liked your belt sander very convenient and useful tool and using your portable bandsaw as a table saw genius. You had all the elements rate for a rocket stove especially the perlite which gives insulation around the combustion chamber to keep it really hot. Nice touch speeding it up gets the idea/design across without boring watchers.
I really enjoyed watching you in your trade zone building that stove. I don't have a "trade" per say but I love working with my hands building and fixing stuff.
Great video no talking no time wasting, he made every second count, very informative, thanks for sharing.
Thank you very much!
This is the best rocket stove I have seen. You even added the perlite inside
Good job
the next one that you billed weld the wood feed/inlet pointing up at a 30-45 degree angle. then the stove self feed the wood? just a little fyi 4-uother that that thank you for the porta band saw / table saw I'm going to use that one..
all best bits with no wasted time...truly excellent presentation
Thank you!
nice project! thanks for sharing!
One of the most awsome vids on youtube, across all categories. Well done Sir.
This guy doesn't fuck around! Way to go sir
haha, thank you very much! Cheers!
Simple Little Life s
Gotta love "Tap Juice." Been working for a guy for years and he drills everything metal with a dry bit. I mention tapping fluid and I get Wrath!
No plans all in your head? I bow to you, amazing work!
I want some of these super fast cutting tools you have! :)
Man that looks heavy duty. One thing for sure though. If I didn't have my everlast plasma cutter I would have definitely borrowed one if I were you making this. Great job with the tools you had.
Thank you!
Great video. A joy to watch the fast pace and it's nice to see the good quality of your rocket stove. I never realized the value of the hand held band saw before. Great tips.
heavenly vid....cutting, fitting, welding, painting, ironworking, sanding, and Bushcraft firemaking at the end!! Couldn't get any better! Most Excellent! thanks... :)
Wow. A tool that I never knew about and absolutely do not need but now feel that my life will not ever be complete without it.
You are a very talented craftsman who obviously pays a lot of attention to detail. This was a very interesting and educational video as well. Nice work. Thank you.
Ralph Mazzella scoo electrical free ruedas portable
Loved it! Thank you
love it i made one not so much performance. i see by you're wonderfull vid i need screen in my intake pipe goin to put one in now THANKS GOD BLESS JIM
The fast forward gave is a neat Peter Gabriel feel. Nice job!
Very cool I was really impressed great job
Very cool. I love how you insulated it. I made one and made the fire box close to 45 degree angle up to make it self feeding. Your design is better though being insulated. Great work man, love it.
GRACIAS GENIO.......HACETE TU PROPIA LAMPARA..........FABULOSO............
In awe of your workmanship. Respect.
Que herrero tan extraordinario!!!y con ese kit de herramientas, es lo máximo, felicitaciones!!!
Great DIY Vids!!! 👍
GENIUS!!! greetings from Argentina!!!!
Taking notes just an armchair enthusiast used to work with metal and tools. Glad you are enjoying your creation.
Muy buen vídeo, felicidades, gracias por tu idea... saludos desde México.....
A perfect example of everything's possible with the right tools and if the right tools ain't working then the right back up tools. Great job man !
Man ,I dont know where I'd be without my Mig welder. You certainly would be the guy to live next door to after the apocalypse.
hahaha!
kijiji
Pretty sure he could make a small boiler and steam engine to run a generator.
I want a mig welder they look handy
Your speeding up the video and respecting the time of the viewer, is greatly appreciated. And Excellent Work Sir.
Оснащение мастерской поражает разнообразием инструмента и приспособлений! Такая мастерская - мечта любого мужика !
waathhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
The workshop equipment is amazed by the variety of tools and devices! Such a workshop is the dream of any man!
Here's to you and whatooooo ,google in the help
да, это точно на 100%
ни как не смог разглядеть что там за пила у него по металлу. Интересная конструкция
A fantastic piece of craftsmanship, thanks for sharing.
I love this video. It is no nonsense and shows every step. Focus is on the process of construction.
Amazing! Fabrication at it's finest!
Real stuff. Love it! Thanks for sharing.
Excellent work, design and video, chapeau! ❤
Thank you very much!
This is awesome , wish I could get one !
Great video. Gotta like a guy that appreciates the value of someone's time and is a craftsman too. Other youtubers should be taking notes. I know I did.
love to see somebody who know how to NAIL IT as u did Salute u from Australia ~
Looks awesome
i like this design and maybe when your ready you can make the same one however place a copper coiled pipe inside with cold intake and hot out for hot water?
Without a doubt, the manliest rocket stove build on CZcams. Outstanding
Nice workmanship. I like the attention to detail and the quality of materials chosen for the build.
Very nice, liked, thank you for sharing💐🍀🌈
Nice job, looks very efficient use of wood. Amazing what you can build in a good workshop.
Simply amazing. I want to make one right now. Thanks a lot for this video.
Thank you very much! Cheers!
what's the purpose of the perlite in this stove? in a full mass stove with the 55gal drum it's used as an insulator between the hot and cold sides to keep the convection up and down drafts. not sure why it's in this stove. maybe to keep the heat in and up toward your cup versus radiating out?
Yeah that's pretty much it. The idea is that if insulate the stove pipe, it will get hotter and thus create a stronger draft coming through the stove for a more efficient burn. That's the theory anyway. Cheers!
The hotter you can keep the burn chamber, the more efficient the burn will be. The insulation is to prevent loss of heat thus creating a hotter burn chamber.
Would have cleaned it out and made the outter layer into a hot water tank/ boiler
Absolutely mesmerizing!
Mad skills. Awesome equipment but skills are number one.
muy buena felicidades!
Good work. Rocket stoves are a very important technology, so anything anyone can do to help people make them is good.
Wow! That has to be the most elaborate rocket stove I've ever seen! Very nice, well done!
Thank you very much!
One of the best ones I've ever seen, well done.
Thank you very much!
Can't imagine disliking this video. Great job, man !!
Hi from France :)
and sold in a garage sale for 10 dollars.
Fantastic editing. Best so far.
I'm just blown away by the creativeness in which he used his cordless band saw. Put it in a clamp on its side to use like a big band saw. Genius
Most of the rocket stoves I've seen are square or rectangular so it is refreshing to see yours as a tube. I look forward to making my rocket stove. Got a nice powerplasma cutter so making some of those rounded cuts will be quite easy.
Thank you! That sounds like a fun little project 👍
thank you for teaching me how to build the stove... God bless you
a great vidio....good skills...as an 'ole pipe fitter/out of the loop...i'm gonna do it...and have fun fabricting and laying out..
i can still mig/tig
..
I had a good laugh at the creative use of the vice/bandsaw. Absolutely brilliant!!!
FANTASTIC THE WHOLE STORY NICE WORK I'M IMPRESSED
Thank you very much. Cheers!
A very nice job.
Thank you!
Nice job...Cheerz!
What a wonderful talent!
Best one iv seen so far 👍
Thank you 👍
I love the attention to detail.
Thank you
You clearly aren't afraid of hard work. Good job.
Desde 🇲🇽 muy chingona tu creacion.
I've watched 'What does the fox say?' about 100 times, I've watched every single video of the Ramones playing live on CZcams at least once, yet this is totally the best video I've ever watched. Totally brilliant.
haha well thank you very much. I'm glad you enjoyed it and really appreciate the compliment. Cheers!
That looks amazing! Great work. I always wonders if rocket stoves can be used for forging. They look like they get really hot but then again it is just wood as your fuel
Yeah, I was wondering that too (since I don't have any type of forge of my own) but sadly this one at least just doesn't have enough jam. Oh well. Good for making a coffee, which might even be better :)
Nice, Very Nice!!
Ooooo nice! Where did you get that cylindrical grinder attachment you used to enlarge the hole-saw cut for your fire chamber? Never seen one. Very, very useful.
Badass bro. Thanks for the video.
Great fab work . Great idea for my camping and fishing trips.
Why would anyone downvote this? It's awesome!
Great job!
Wanted to ask you on how would we remove the ashes piling up gradually during the long continuous cook say 2 to 3 dishes one after another
That is a very cool design.
Awesome!!!!
thoroughly impressed!!
Marvelous fabrication skills. jealous as all get up.
Great job! You did a hell of a lot of work to complete your stove. I'm a welder so appreciate what you did. I sure like your metal cutting saw.
Thank you very much! Cheers👍
SWEET ROCKET STOVE BUILD!! LOVE IT!! Nice work, man!!
Thank you very much! Cheers!
hi there....congrats for your work.your stove is a beauty!
Nevertheless, this is not a rocket stove. to make it short, in a rocket stove, there is a specific flow of air that produces a secondary burn of the gazes. the result is a higher temperature and absolutely no smoke. the result is a great efficiency (a lot of heat, and very little wood)
I repeat, your work is beautiful and worthy.
You're a true metal worker. Fantastic
This is a cool project. reminds me of the projects another one of my favorite CZcams crafters makes. Don't know his name but his channel is the "make it extreme" channel.
Thanks! Oh yeah I love that channel too! I subscribe to him. But, he put's waaaay more work into his project and makes way more complicated things than I do. But man is that channel awesome! Make it yours, make it extreme! Cheers!
Pretty nice, & she works!!
Thanks!
Found ya via the "Big Homie" himself lol, Doug from Off Grid with Doug and Stacy! I loved this video on the rocket stove and your knife build. I'll definitely be watching more. Thanks so much. God Bless you and yours. ~Lisa
Man, it's a good job.......very, very good.
Thank you for the video , I really like this design and am planning to make one myself out of a discarded welding tank that I've been holding to make a gong. This is a much cooler idea. One thing I wonder about could you add a inverted shape that flared out at the top to hold a griddle or grill. Thoughts?
Excellent! Hugs from Brazil!
I loved this, very good and informative. Well done!👍😉
A wonderful instruction video fast paced, informative and simple, good work with basic tools, smart guy.
Thank you very much!
My dad torch bottles were all full last summer then when I went out to use them both were empty and nobody used them
Super Awesome stove, love it....
Nice rocket stove.
I just built mine and waiting to paint it outside when the weather gets warmer.
Awesome skills! Thanks for sharing.
