  • Official Simple Little Life video of making a rocket stove. A project I've wanted to do for several years and finally got around to it. Works well, and it produces a lot of heat for very little fuel used.

    About Simple Little Life:
    This channel has sort of turned (inadvertently) into a knife making channel. But the original idea behind what we wanted it to be is this description below:
    Videos on our journey to homesteading. With a recent purchase of a little piece of the Alberta prairie, we're looking to sell our nice suburban home in search of a more meaningful life beyond chasing the "American dream" working for some big company and making someone else rich. It's not about the money, it's about getting the most value from the work I do to improving the life of my family.
    Some preparedness, DIY, building quality things with your hands, guns, gear, and outdoor exploration.

    I was a weldor in a shop for 17years. Really liked your belt sander very convenient and useful tool and using your portable bandsaw as a table saw genius. You had all the elements rate for a rocket stove especially the perlite which gives insulation around the combustion chamber to keep it really hot. Nice touch speeding it up gets the idea/design across without boring watchers.

    what's the purpose of the perlite in this stove? in a full mass stove with the 55gal drum it's used as an insulator between the hot and cold sides to keep the convection up and down drafts. not sure why it's in this stove. maybe to keep the heat in and up toward your cup versus radiating out?

    • @Simplelittlelife
      @Simplelittlelife  Před 7 lety +18

      Yeah that's pretty much it. The idea is that if insulate the stove pipe, it will get hotter and thus create a stronger draft coming through the stove for a more efficient burn. That's the theory anyway. Cheers!

    • @jasoncampbell8797
      @jasoncampbell8797 Před 5 lety +7

      The hotter you can keep the burn chamber, the more efficient the burn will be. The insulation is to prevent loss of heat thus creating a hotter burn chamber.

  • @gardiendutempleinterieurjo9263

    hi there....congrats for your work.your stove is a beauty!
    Nevertheless, this is not a rocket stove. to make it short, in a rocket stove, there is a specific flow of air that produces a secondary burn of the gazes. the result is a higher temperature and absolutely no smoke. the result is a great efficiency (a lot of heat, and very little wood)
    I repeat, your work is beautiful and worthy.
