- The Temptations performing Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me)
Lyrics:
Each day through my window I watch her as she passes by
I say to myself you're such a lucky guy,
To have a girl like her is truly a dream come true
out of all the fellows in the world she belongs to me.
But it was Just my imagination,
once again runnin' away with me.
It was just my imagination runnin' away with me. Oo
Soon we'll be married and raise a family (Oh yeah)
A cozy little home out in the country with two children maybe three.
I tell you I can visualize it all
this couldn't be a dream for too real it all seems;
But it was Just my imagination once again runnin' way with me.
Tell you it was just my imagination runnin' away with me.
Ev'ry night on my knees I pray Dear Lord, Hear my plea;
Don't ever let another take her love from me or I would surely die.
Her love is heavenly, when her arms enfold me,
I hear a tender rhapsody; but in reality she doesn't even know me.
Just my imagination once again runnin' way with me.
Tell you it was just my imagination runnin' away with me.
no, no, no, no, no, no, no, can't forget her
Just my imagination once again runnin' way with me.
Tell you it was just my imagination runnin' away with me.

Stop interrupting utube report u😮😮😮😮
😊🎶🏖 thank you
Yeah I agree. But let's not pretend there's no talent in today's music. Eg Taylor swift.
I grew up listening to this song. Im 34 now. My parents used to play this all weekend, we would have cookouts and friends and family over. I remember watching my mom at the kitchen table cutting up all the veggies for potato salads and marinating the meats for Dad to grill. Playing and running in the backyard all day. I just lost mom to covid jan 26 2021..i play this for her on the weekends and i close my eyes and imagine i am back there with her again. She was just 62. I love you momma...
Sweet memories, thank you for sharing yours.
Music's so evocative, isn't it? I can visualise those cookouts. Bless you for keeping your mom close to you this way. You're a star 🌟
Yep me too

Dido
God bless you both congratulations on happy years together
My senior year 1971 met a terrific guy fell in love when this song came out. It became "Our Song" as we started to date and he proposed with this song playing in the background. Our 45th anniversary is this year and still madly in love. This song holds a special place in our hearts. Now our children and grandchildren love this song and know why....Its no longer our imagination, it's our life story.
Beautiful. Could only hope and wish for such circumstances to take place for myself. Sounds like you scored the jackpot. Best wishes.
Wonderful story, thanks for sharing it.
How lovely sounds like you both hit the jackpot 🤗
Gid Bless Yall😮

I'm 80 now but grew up with this----still sounds just as good. Way way ahead of it's time.
It’s timeless.

I’m so glad a new generation of people will be listening and finding the temps 😭❤️
Meaningful lyrics, no vulgarity, smooth beats, this era of music is unlike any other. I’m 37, and am so grateful I grew up listening to the greats. I just can’t do radio nowadays
You have never lied I agree with you 100% these tunes were classy not trashy and had a lot of substance to them you fell in love there was tenderness, a story, caring, fun, happiness, etc I don't listen to the radio anymore either This is stuff I can listen to with my kids and my grandparents or whoever that's older than me or very much younger than me without feeling embarrassed and I can have a good time with them with the songs
then stop paying attention to the radio … you’re on CZcams so you have easy resources 🗣 it doesn’t hurt to search up “modern Motown music” because I can guarantee you I’ve heard several Motown-inspired artists and a plethora of 70s-inspired artists…
hip hop is garbage compared to this song....
Nothing can replace this music for me. I'm 65 and it means so much to never forget the past music.. love it
@@MarquesTheProducer stop whining

So true
I am 71 years old and I have just finished reading Dr. Otis Williams' book about the Temptations, the most fantastic musical group ever! I can't stop listening to "Just My Imagination" "My Girl" "Since I Lost My Baby", anything by the Tempts. I love the guys. Thank you , Otis, for putting the group together and creating a lifetime of memories for so many people. Here's to the '60s and to Baby Boomers, the greatest generation.
Hello Elinda
Amen. Best group ever
The sacrifices they made, paved the way for nso many
Rich and famous definitely comes with a price...
Thanks Elinda for the info re the book. Like you I am 71 years old and at the age of 14 I bought my first record - it was The Temptations Greatest Hits Album - an album I cherished and sadly somehow lost it between numerous house moves over the years.
Motown musicians, singers, song writers, etc were the offspring of Boomers
Thank god!!
Makes me miss Diane God I loved that girl. Would hold her and listen to this then uncle Sam broke us up got back home and she was with someone else
I love this song. This was always my mom and dad's song since they were younger.. my dad just passed away this June and this song will live on for them♥️
A brilliant post, Kelly. All the very best to you from Liverpool, England ❤️
Yes,I fell deep in love with this song back in the day. It's been so many days, weeks, months and years gone by.We are no longer together, due to my wrong.I regret that every time I hear this song.Lord have mercy on me,and forgive me Heavenly Father

I seen the Temptations in the 70s life
I have to say The Temptations are definitely the soul of Motown. This was real music.
Mario Belfi the temps and the tops pure class

Like you say ...that was real music! Love it!!

This one of my favorite songs
This song is just sheer bliss.
The vocals, the harmonies, the orchestration.
It’s just an absolute masterpiece.
You got that right anyone doesn't think so needs their head examined🥰😍👍❤💝😇😉
This song is killer
Yessss I love to listen with my head phones so I can block out everything and not miss a note.
It's so dreamlike and smooth, with exquisite harmonies. Bittersweet, too, for those who can relate.
Well Spoken! Peace!
I'm 20 years old, born in the early 2000s. You can say that I am young, and I am... I grew up with all forms of music, but this type of music always shines. It's pure bliss, with its harmonies and its sublime lyrics. Though, I was not born in the era, its shine is bright enough to burst a ray through me. I was born and raised in east la. Viva la raza. 💚 🤎
Puro East Side
This song is so precious to me....my Dad used to sing it when I was young....I can see him getting lost in the music. My dear Dad is sadly dying with glioblastoma, he has only days left, we are nursing him at home...we played this along with other faves yesterday.....a lasting memory to see him smile at the end as the music played, it will stay in my heart for all of my days.
Your dad sounds like a great guy.
Rest easy to the jefito he had amazing taste in music RIP
I'm 66 years old now and ever since this 1st came out it has brought tears on...such beauty in the sadness.
Yes ma'am 😊
Omg yes..these songs kills me takes me back omg. It was a complete different world. ❤
I understand what you mean
Me too...loved this first time around..
We were so lucky...long live Motown, Philly sound., such wonderful groups, solo artists......still listening. 2021.
@Epicgamer30 - That's funny. You're being facetious, right?
50 years later, this song is still amazing.
By far one of my all time favorites! Classic Temptations!
"Dear Lord, hear my plea, don't ever ever EVER take her love from me or I will surely die!" BAM!
Just my Immagination...
The Classic Five Temptations, it never ever got better than this. It is so sad what happened to some of these guys. Only one of the Classic Five remain, Otis Williams, and soon enough he will join his four "brothers", when that day comes the world will morn, and Heaven will party when the Classic Five Temptations are reunited. Thanks guys for all the decades of great music you've given me.

There is plenty of great new music, you just aint going to hear it unless you look for it. That being said, stuff like this is pure gold.
Isn’t it wild crazy how I wasn’t even close to be born when these songs were made but I’m here quarantine & listening 2020?!
not THAT crazy
Good music is good music
You need to get on your mom & dad's case and ask them why they weren't playing these classics for you ever since you were in utero ...up until now!
However, the baton is now in YOUR hands, so you get to play them for your babies - from a few months post-conception until they're old enough to keep it going!
But feed them the mellower tunes such as this song at a tolerable volume; That will gently stimulate their brain.
The loud & "busy" music that's all over the place will just retard their development. And definitely don't play the noisy junk that can't be categorized any better than NOISE! Most of us can figure out what that is pretty easily.
Anyway bro, glad you're broadening your exposure. 😊 👍
You missed a great time in this world
Wow My thoughts exactly 🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵
What a great song!! Brings back great memories!! The year was 1971 and I'm listening to this song on the radio, cruising and imagining!! I'm 70 now and this song carries me back. Eternal and still my imagination always running away with me! Play on!
Charles, hope you are still kickin brother. This old dude is same age. Was in 2nd year in USAF when this came out. Was a unifying song. Hellacious great harmony. We had a few guys who could sing lead & tenor. Regardless of race many of us wanted to sing the bass line like Melvin "Blue" Franklin on this & "Papa Was A Rollin Stone".
This timeless masterpiece gives a lyrical lesson on how love has the power to make our minds play tricks on us.
Yep
Definitely! If only😢
I’m only 21 but so glad my dad raised me with this era of music ❤

This is art. Motown was the peak of pop music. Like the Russian classic writers of the 19/early 20 century, it cannot be surpassed. Todays music is garbage. Now matter how I force myself to listen to it nothing gladdens more my heart than a Motown song.
I think the art is culturally interesting and the artist is clearly talented why do we hate on each other they love or oldies and are part of our culture you know their are many black and Indian Spanish people all over the world my grand children are half PR and Black and Half White and Black and Half Dominican and Black What is all the hate about really? The Gang Thing I agree should not be associated with Mexican gangs or any other gangs! These Men where about creating timeless music for people. at Music for the people this music was part of the African American expression of our Art's Song writers Singers Dancers Dress Makers and Tailors for all those cool looking clothes I just get very annoyed with people that Bites the hand that feeds them Meaning. When did Mexicans and other Spanish gangs start hating Blacks they low ride off our music and instead of fighting among them selves or other so call gangs they kill innocent little black kids 7 & 8 year-old kids that got noting on their mind except playing outside in some cities kids can not even go out side cause of these gangs there pretty pathetic to fight over turf you dont even own you pay rent our if you own your home you still pay taxes don't pay and your out either way it doesn't belong to you so wise up brown and black are one people you all are just a bunch of clowns who think it makes you a man to kill people because if the color of your skin and believe me I know Mexicans are over all good people it the low class thugs criminal that have dissed the entire race and call it Pride I say that is Bullshit ! I know Spanish people Darker than my light tan skin and I am African American with a very mixed family heritage my children all look bi racial I just want to know what did African Americans do to Mexicans that these foolish gang thugs hate Blacks but love our music and style if your a hater don't reply I will not entertain stupid comments
Jink1925 I am a white man from Europe and I always liked the music made by the blacks and consider it superior to the music made by my race.
Racial, religious, gender or any other prejudice is for me something strange and unnatural. Maybe it is easy for me to say because there are almost no blacks in my country or because I am atheist but have no grudge against any religious group. I judge people by who they are, by their acts, never by their colour, religion, sexual preference and so on. People are good or bad but the majority somewhere in the middle. We all battle with our inner demons.
So very true.

The Temptations. The BEST of the best. So glad I grew up with this music.

its amazing how up-tempo this song is, yet so mellow and soft.
One Of The Greatest Songs Ever
i agree totally!!!!!!!!
Each day through my window I watch her as she passes by
I say to myself you're such a lucky guy
To have a girl like her is truly a dream come true
Out of all the fellows in the world she belongs to me
But it was just my imagination
Runnin' away with me
It was just my imagination runnin' away with me
Soon we'll be married and raise a family (oh yeah)
A cozy little home out in the country with two children maybe three
I tell you I can visualize it all
This couldn't be a dream for too real it all seems
But it was just my imagination once again runnin' way with me
Tell you it was just my imagination runnin' away with me
Every night on my knees I pray, dear Lord, hear my plea
Don't ever let another take her love from me or I would surely die
Her love is heavenly, when her arms enfold me
I hear a tender rhapsody, but in reality she doesn't even know me
Just my imagination once again runnin' way with me
Tell you it was just my imagination runnin' away with me
No, no, I can't forget her
Just my imagination once again runnin' way with me
Just my imagination runnin' away with me

This song is so soothing can we bring this type of music back 😭
I hope one day dude
Always loved this song... It's 52 years old (released January 1971) and still sounds as great to me today as it did back then and I think it always will... Thanks to Barrett Strong who just passed ..RIP
Very sad how people can take something and make it into an excuse to convey hate towards others.. I see nothing wrong with the slideshow at all, just another expression of art. And to see some of these comments is disgusting. Life is too short for unnecessary evil.

There's a lot of great music, you just don't know where to look
What would you recommend?
I sure don't know where to look. I am stuck in the past when it comes to music. That crap my roommate's Godchild plays sux big time.

JR Romero amazing 😉 keep it up for those who's didn't
I think most people do not realize this song is about unrequited love or love they have not found yet. It is still a beautiful song.
