    One of the best videos I have seen. As I non-mechanic or engineer, I understand everything you said.
    Thank you

    Thanks for bringing this old truck coach mechanic up to speed on this as I’ve been moving over to pleasure marine and recently did an oil cooler on a 58 Searay with the Man V-12s and this is good no start trouble shooting. -KTMCandog!🇨🇦

    Understand the reason for the fireboy system, but what a PITA. Mine caused an issue with my starboard engine, took forever to troubleshoot.

    Job well done. Curious as to the age of the BO (bad order) relay board?

    Those engines sound JUST like mine. I mean, no surprise, since I have a MAN engine...although I have the only road vehicle in the US with a MAN engine lol. (Hey youtube, am I still allowed to say MAN power?)

    Question, whats your perspective on The MAN V12-1900 Yacht Motors and whats the Factory Warranty offered for this new Motor and whats the HP for this Motor being installed in a 165 Ft+ Yacht and what Transmission and Drives do you suggest to make this the most dependable, Cost Efficient Powerful Motor Package. Thanks.

    • @fhgmarineengineering139
      @fhgmarineengineering139  Před 3 lety

      That would likely be a bit undersized for a 165' since these engines are 1900hp ea. Here is some more info.

      All depends on what type of hull is used. Displacement hulls don’t use a lot of power and are slow.
      A planing or semi displacement hull most of the time use high horse power and high speed diesels.
      I’ve worked on a 120’ Feadship with a pair of derated MAN V8-900 and I’ve also worked on a Azimut 72s with a pair of MAN V12-1800. It all depends on what the boat is built for.
      As for the MAN V12-1900 it is a proven engine at this point with very few problems. I think the standard warranty is two years but you can buy extended four year coverage.

    I have a problem with a Man 900 engine from 2005 that does not take off, the turbos were changed and the transmission selenoids were changed, but the problem continues, can you please give me an opinion about it?

      Were just getting back into CZcams, sorry for the VERY late reply. You can email us FHG@fhgmarineengineering.com if you still have questions or have other engine questions

      Waste gate or boost pressure sensor would be my guess. I have seen one or two CR engines that have had a load of bad fuel run through them and trash the high pressure pump.

    very easy mechanical fuel pump... not common rail

    I find this design disturbing and potentially dangerous. You could be 500 miles off shore - perhaps in heavy weather- and a single bad relay strands the yacht, there should be alert indicating the emergency fire system’s engine stop has been activated and an override switch.

    • @rski1036
      @rski1036 Před 2 lety +1

      There can be as many indicator lights, bells, buzzers run off the system as one wants. Same goes for an override switch.
