He's not clean at all. He failed a test. That much is indisputable. The ruling post fact was that it was not intentional ingestion and did not constitute a level high enough to be considered performance enhancing. So, innocent? Perhaps. Clean? by definition, a resounding no. The controversy then, is regarding how fast this all happened, and why USADA handled similar cases in a completely disparate fashion. Once again, the USADA and UFC prove they are not honest actors, and are willing to change determinations and judgements based on who the individual is and how much money they stand to make for the UFC.

Anyone who's followed Nate in MMA knows how much he's against PED's, and would never stoop so low as to use them.
His attitude and immediate call out of USADA speaks tons for his character. Not only called them out but dissed them for wanting to keep it all quiet till their testing was finished.
When you look at the money end of this, millions in PPV sales were in jeopardy if this fight folded up. I think Nate realized this also, and used it to his advantage.
He said he would not compete as long as his name was tarnished and made them ( USADA ) burn the midnight oil till they tracked down the source--a tainted vitamin he was taking.
Let's also consider the amount in question......
A "trace amount" can be measured in ppm ( parts per million ) or as a % percentage of usually less than 1% .
Both are miniscule and could have no performance enhancing effect for the body.
All of us consume "trace amounts" of God knows what each day eating at public places or eating processed foods.
Dana may be accused of throwing his weight--and money at the problem to fix it, but I'm betting it was Nate's stubborn refusal to fight unless he was cleared that won the showdown.
Some see Nate as a rough talking uneducated individual.
He has common sense and street smarts however. Those cannot be learned, bought or given to you. You either have them or you don't.
His moral values are without question in my eyes, and that friends is what counts!!
