    As a RAMS supporter I can assure you that Div 1 is a much improved division. We were lucky to get out in only 2 seasons. We thought it would be a piece of cake, and so did Sunderland, Portsmouth, and Ipswich, so don’t be fooled into thinking it’s going to be easy. Poor refereeing, some ground surfaces are poor, some teams are break-your-legs brutal, and some are very limited as to how many visiting supporters their club can offer you. Mix all that in with some very good teams with their talent and I think you will be quite surprised as to how difficult the challenge is going to be. Finding quality players that are prepared, and happy, to play in Division 1 is also a challenge. Anyway, good luck, and I for one will be looking with interest to see how well you can adapt to playing in Division 1.

    Yeah in the first full season under Sullivan/Brady/Golds we were relegated. Like now they inherited a club which was massively underfunded and in a dire state and Knighthead have done the same. In 8 of the past 10 seasons 50 points would have also seen us safe so a double-dose of bad luck that this season it didn't. So yes the previous owners didn't get us relegated but the bar was lower in most of their seasons. Lots of mistakes this season. Key issues were not signing a goal-scoring center forward either in the summer or January, the sacking of Eustace, and the delay in replacing Mowbray but I'd point to recruitment as the main fail point. As for Mowbray well we need the re-build to start immediately so I think they club need to address the Mowbray issue. If there is no ETA on a return date then sadly I think we need to let him go and appoint someone else immediately. We have in fact got 15 players out of contract (inc loans) so a massive rebuild is needed and we need as long as possible for a new manager to be involved in the rebuild. So I think the owners need to come clean about the status of Mowbray with no delay.

    • @michaelketley876
      @michaelketley876 Před měsícem +2

      Very right, Phil. We can't hang around too long waiting to see if or when Mowbray will return. The work on rebuilding the squad needs to start very soon. If the club messes up on this, our stay in League One could be longer than we would want.

    • @philspilsbury66
      @philspilsbury66 Před měsícem

      @@michaelketley876 This is my thinking. We not only need to recruit fast but also need to mold a team and a system from those new players so its not just about a few pre-season games, the rebuild needs to start immediately. The club will know if Mowbray has a return date set or not but for me if there is no ETA on that return date then we need to move on fast.

      Recruitment was at fault you say but it wasn't . The players that were signed were signed to fit how Eustace wanted to set the team up and how he wanted them to play so when he was sacked and the player asked to play a different way it would never work , Eustace played the same way as rowett yet the same fans who wanted Eustace out wanted rowett back how weird is that shows how little the average fan knows about football

    • @philspilsbury66
      @philspilsbury66 Před měsícem

      @@brianvaughan2312 They bought a stack of individual talents who in the end didn't complement each other. I always wanted Eustace to stay but I'm not convinced he'd have produced a top 10 finish. It felt like these players were okay when things were going well but they have no resilience and grit when things got tough other than a couple like Stansfield. We also did make some completely wasted signings and the January window was pointless. We needed a forward and instead filled up the midfield with players we had no capacity to even put in the squad on match days. The simple fact is that more goals and we would have survived and that falls at the feet of recruitment. We also ended up with a team of small players, lost physical players and had no real leaders on the pitch hence why we ended up patching up poor Juke to play cameos to provide some of that.

After a few games at the start of the season the league is false hence we won those two games and found ourselves in sixth position ,yet we all knew we had a hard set of games coming up and so it proved . @@michaeltitmus4073 You have got it all wrong. Eustace was a very good manager, sure the football may not have been great, but we were an average side playing in the demanding championship. The proof is he kept Blackburn up as when he joined they were assessed as doomed. Only 5 defeats in 18 games. He Won at Leeds, because he set up the defense not to let in goals and did the same at Leicester. They had 74% possession and many shots. The run in of the last 8 games was assessed as the toughest in the form table, yet he survived those to gain points which people thought were not possible Won Leeds away.

No one knows if we would have maintained 6th, but at worse he would have been close. A very good manager lost.

    I guess us being relegated to leak one, could do the owners a massive favour in terms of evaluating areas of improvement and how we could be stronger. Yes, a massive clear out needed this summer ASAP, and hopefully we can come back up to the championship, in a much stronger way and team.
    Personally rather than bringing Tony Mobrey back, I do think that there are better managers out there, yes there may be that argument as to top quality managers not wanting a league one job, but who knows in this day and age anything can happen.

    According to Rowett he noticed players not pulling there weight in training , to simplify things every team trains all week so you have to gain a advantage where you can . Rio Ferdinand says that when he turned up at Man Utd he was amazed how hard they worked in training , Roy Keane treated every session like a war making sure every player gave everything with no slackers . Ferdinand had to go along with it yet a few short months later he was picked for England !Valuable lesson learned , to gain that advantage you have to work harder than the opposition . We now know that our players not only didn’t work hard our captain goes out and gets done for drink driving in the middle of a relegation scrap ! So a note to the owners / manager do your homework on new signings , could that be the reason they didn’t want to play for Rooney ? Just putting it out there !
