This is the day that Emmitt Smith won the NFL MVP. Separated shoulder and all took the offense down for that game winning kick. This would be the ONLY time that John Madden would come down after the game from the broadcast booth to congratulate a player, which he did for Emmitt Smith. Emmitt would be the ONLY running back to win the rushing title, NFL MVP, and Super Bowl MVP. The running back triple crown.
It's also the day he secured his spot in Canton. I say this as someone who's definitely NOT a Cowboys fan, but facts are facts. The Giants had their chances to clinch this game as well late in the 4th, oh well.
Rodney Hampton was an underrated running back. If the Giants wouldn’t have picked him , Jimmy said he would’ve taken him over Emmitt! And by the way, it’s criminal that Darrin Woodson is not in the HOF!
I am a Giants fan and this is still one of the great regular season games in history. Giants could have really used Mike Sherrard, as he was lost for the season at that point. It really hurt their passing game.
Turbo will get snagged off the practice roster by teams who were high on him especially when these other backs start getting hurt. The NYG was lucky he was in the situation he was and chose the team he really wanted to play for. Tuff situation but a good problem to have but it maybe better for him in Dallas and philly.
