When downloading VRChat's Creator Companion, Unity 2019.4 should be prompted for install automatically, but if it doesn't you can download it here unity.com/releases/editor/archive
UPDATED JAN 2024:
You now need Unity 2022.3.6f1 and the latest version of Creator Companion.
At 01:23 Instead of importing your vroid in the "VRM0" tab, just drag and drop your .vrm into the assets section at the bottom. Your model should show up, and from there the rest of the tutorial still works. Please make sure you have both Creator Companion updated and Unity updated to 2022.3.6f1.

Worked for me just today (2024-04-01) following the tutorial as-is (i.e. using the "VRM0" tab ) with Unity 2022 -- but thank you for following up on this with an update
duplicate and convert to VRCHAT is grayed out

You just solved my problem that lasted for almost 6 hours in under 5 minutes. Thank you so much. I couldnt understand why after installing everything i was asked to install, it wouldnt work. I was missing that link you gave in the description.
Now I need to work on the trust system... Need to play some vrchat in order to publish stuff. Does anyone knows how long it takes to reach the "New user" trust rank in vrchat?

what if i have same vroid model just different clothes and want to add to the one vrm unity package. instead of uploading seperatly on their own avatars
Im having a problem with the editor, it always open other version of unity (2019) insted of the 2022, how can i change it cause it causing a lot of errors and cant find a way to upgrade the editor selection
i removed all the psy bones but it still says verry poor performance and to many psy bones colisions?

Thanks for the tutorial. This is working for me to get the vroid avatar into VRChat, but I'm not getting any hand or finger gestures, just stationary hands. At the build stage, I got warnings pop up that lower arm isn't first child of upper arm, and lower legs aren't first child of upper legs. Admittedly I'm stumbling around in the dark here. Any suggestions?

"lower arm is not the first child of upper arm, and lower legs are not first child of upper legs" Is a common error and you can ignore it. VRCHAT updated to Unity 2022.3.6f1, since you are following this tutorial you must be using the 2019 version and that could be the cause of your issue.

you say uncheck all the unneeded psybones.. but that would imply I understood what was needed XD
Any psybones that are not needed are ones that either do not have physics or are not in use, for example, If you are wearing a skirt and the skirt has psybones, you can delete them on the skirt to improve the model status.
i usually only keep hair and certain parts of clothing (like the hood from a hoodie) everything else can go
Can you maybe do a quest version? I tried to repeat what you did for pc and its giving me a headache. I don't know how to convert to quest so I would appreciate if you showed us how to do this but uploading for quest.

doesn't work for quest
When I open the unity, it says "Open in safe version?" then it brings me to all this coding stuff i dont know about. and when I open the actual unity, the VRM0 doesnt pop up. I dont know what to do (I got the rest of the stuff)
Hi! You can ignore the "safe version" and just use the regular unity. Due to unity/vrchat updating, the VRM0 tab will not show up. Hey, did you ever find out how to make them work on quest/headsets? I guess not cuz you would have a tutorial up for it but I wanted to ask still
More then likely you'll need to also use blender and reduce the polygoncount
Hello, I did everything as shown in your tutorial. But at the last step, when I click Build and Publish, the error “Current User does not have permissions to build avatars” pops up, what should I do?
thats an issue with your user trust rank. play more, friend people, and avoid getting muted/blocked/kicked from worlds to build your user trust rank. get to at least "new user" and you should be able to upload avatars :)
Every time I use the Creator Companion, my AVG stops it because of a virus. Does nobody else get the same problem? I can't be the only one.
VRC creator companion is not a virus. You can run it with both malware bytes and windows defender and it will not flag it.
how do you convert from PC to quest?

Hi! I just tested this by deleting it and re-adding it in the repository, It still works for me. Please ensure there are no spaces and that you also put in the first part of the link.

You have to have specific requirements to upload to vrchat, such as certain amount of playtime.
I have an error. You must accept the terms above to upload content to VrChat
When you go to upload your model, please scroll down and check under "Online Publishing" the section that says *"The information provided above is accurate and I have the rights to upload this content to VRCHAT"*, you can then upload your model.

Hi! Do you mean for vroid studio? it's on steam and it's free. they have presets and you can also find free assets on booth.pm, I recommenced it if you're looking to make an avatar! It's very easy to navigate :)

It means you do not have the requirements to upload to vrchat. you need a certain amount of playtime to upload avatars.

@@darkarthur It does not matter if you are using a vrchat account, or a steam account. You have to meet certain requirements to upload to the platform, what those requirements are I'm not sure.
