About Me
Hi! My name is Jenn! I started this channel in April of 2018 to meet bookish-minded people and be nerdy with them. I make new videos every week. I live in Fargo, ND and it is a wasteland. Booktube is how I connect and make new friends.
Thanks so much for watching!

I recently fell in love with Lisa Kleypas! I started with the Wallflowers series and I loved how she wrote friendships throughout. I loved the four girls’ friendship with each other and the first two heroes look out for each other. Obviously I loved the romance too but it was so refreshing to read a historical that spent time building up friendships in addition to the romance.
I also came across Lisa kleypas through the Wallflower series and I got hooked, so far I own 25 of her books and cannot count how many I have read based on my borrowing history.
Peri no LA ama a ella
I have read Devil in Winter 11 times ❤
You keep making my to read list longer LOL!!
I promise to never stop!
She's not on your list but i think I also love Judith McNaught. I really enjoyed reading her historical books. She has a way of drawing you into her stories and make you feel the emotions of her characters
Yes she writes beautifully
Yes!! Judith McNaught!!!
I love that your not afraid to go deep into reviewing books, which I really appreciate because you have saved me from reading many books that sounds interesting but really wouldn't be my taste. 🙂 You have also introduced me to some Wonderful authors. Thanks Jenn.
The Prize and Honour's splendour are my favourite books by Julie Garwood! I recommend them!
Omgggg sameeee especially Honours Splendour
All of Julie Garwood's historical romances are wonderful. My favorite will always be Ransom.
I am probably the last person on Earth, not to have read Ransom. I know, I know. Need to get to it. Do have a copy though in my defense.
Watching this july 2024 ❤
I need to read more from Lisa Kleypas and Eloisa James.
Yesss girl u won't regret ittt 😍
Sarah MacLean and Mary Balogh too!
The first historical romance I read was by Johanna Lindsey in 1980. I have loved historical romance ever since.
So sad she passed away 😢 She was one of my absolute favorites ❤
I was so upset when she passed as one of the great loves of my life, James Mallory, had come to an end!
The aim is to read all of the books here that I haven’t read yet. Thank you for doing this video!! I recently bought Her Ladyship’s Companion since you suggested it. 😊
I LOVE Julie Garwood!! I'm so happy to see people suggesting her! Her, Julia Quinn, and Amanda Quick are where I started with historical romances quite a few years ago, but now you have added a few more authors to look into. Thank you for all the new recommendations!!!
Omgggg I feel youuuu I love her stories 😍 which is ur fav??? Mine is Honors Splendour
The early novels of Amanda Quick are quite good. And all of Julie Garwood's historical romances are exceptional.
What a GREAT channel. Enjoy your recommendations and descriptions. Listing authors names. All the information given. Take as long as you need. Thank you.
Yessss I love how long most of your videos are!! 💛 You always have the best historical romance recs 🔥
Glad you like them!
I just found you and fell in love with you and your blog! I can look and listen to you for hours. Thank you and thank you❤
So happy that I found your channel. Love the content. Thanks xx
Epic video and super informative! Thanks Jenn. Put 4 of them on my Amazon buy list - the Pam Godwin & Scarlet Peckham ones.
Yes! Read SEA OF RUIN!! Read all the sexy HRs
Vastly informative. So many fav authors and fabO stories. So enjoyed. Thank you.
Great video my lovely, thanks for all the great recommendations xx
Great historical recs! Thanks for sharing!
I am in love with your channel! I am new to historical romance and these books sound sooooo frickin good!
I've found this video so late but I just wanted to say THANK YOU! I've been on the verge of starting with historicals for a while but wasn't sure where to start so this was a perfect find, I have ordered quite the stack to try out. 😊💕
I hope you find some great ones. They can be just as sexy and thrilling as any other romance. I promise.
These all sound so good!!! Thank you so much for so many recs! :)
I hope you enjoy some of them!
I LOVED YOUR VIDEO!
I love good historical romance recommendations and this was truly a gift. So happy I found your channel💕
Awww!! So glad to hear that. Well, I have lots of that content right now because I am down a rabbit hole for it
@@TheBookRefuge I'm planning to binge watch them actually 🤩
Yessss the Hathaway series is just *chefs kiss 😘
Great Video! So many new recs to read 🤗
oh my god finally someone mentioned Julie Garwood! For me, Julie Garwood is literally synonymous to Historical Romance. The books you showed are my favorites too (and also Castles, hope you try out that one super flowery as well).
Also, about having many copies of one book, SAME! I have like 2-3 editions of my favorite ones
Just based on this video, I will surely love all your other contents. SUBCRIBED!
Historical romance has to be one of my favourite books to read. Audrey howard was my first historical author although not many people talk about her. X
I just stumbled on this. I love Outlander and have read all 9 books. I love Historical Romances too..my personal library has more than 500 romances!. Gotta to watch all your videos
I read the four nights with the duke right before seeing this , it makes me so happy that there is other people that love those books 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Great recommendations and overviews.
Omg I'm in love with ur book collection, like all the three authors-Julie,Julia and Lisa are my favorite authors 🤧 I'd give anything to have your library/book collection xo
Thanks for the recs and especially for thinking about everyone's preferences (I can read 'high tier' but prefer 'lower')❤🥰
Rec: Friends & Foes by Sarah M. Eden. It was the first for me from her but it was soo funny and unexpected. This is the first time I read a 'clean' book (only kissing) but with the same levels of chemistry and tension as other steamier books, that you don't actually notice??? But definitely try it out...
Its got lots of siblings, hilarious characters, some heart-rending moments..👌
I feel you! We are all in different moods at different times
To sir Philip with love is my favorite Julia Quinn book but my favorite author so far is Lisa Kleypas. Still reading away, just started historical novels
I just love your reviews! They are so accurate! I generally prefer books with a lot of sexual tension rather than serveral pointless steamy scenes. I want to read historical romances to enjoy the characters and the story and not only because of the high level of steaminess. So I love Julia Quinn, Lisa Kleypas, Sarah Maclean, Sophie Jordan. I loved Tessa Dare's early novels but now I'm nit into her so much, her latest books have disappointed me.
You should try Lenora Bell and also Elisa Bradens series rescued from ruin! Loved that series
Not me going and buying 6 of the books in this video based on your descriptions. Thanks for the recs!
Loved this breakdown, I was on the fence about a few authors that you've now sold me on! Quick question: Ever read Cynthia Wright's Rakes & Rebels series or Danelle Harmon's Heroes of the Sea series? I haven't heard of any book-tubers mentioning them but they are FAVES for me.
I read both and they were enjoyable to read my favorite series is Danelle Harmon The DeMonfort Brothers. For the first time I read Rakes and Rebels from Cynthia Wright and I loved them I read the series and all of Danelle Harmon books.
Awesome video! Another great author for high-heat historical romances in Grace Callaway. Her books have great mystery plots and relationship development, and the love scenes are FABULOUS. ;)
A few other self-pubbed authors with great steamy and swoony historicals are Nicola Davidson, Scarlett Scott, and Mara Shaw (I think her only book is The Scoundrel's Score but it was H O T!).
Thanks for the recs! I love sexy Historicals!
I loved Julie Garwood. I wished that she would write more historical romance novels. I'm also happy that I read Julia Quinn trilogy of Bridgeton
Ty! CAM #1 and yes I’ve read this multiple times
re Mary Balogh: I heard her on a podcast, and she said her name rhymes with Kellogg, like the cereal brand.
Really?!?! Wow.. I am gonna look that up and change my ways.
love you and this video!!!
Love you too girlfriend!!!
I'm reading this one now. It's so good.
Her Baseborn Bridegroom
(Vawdrey Brothers #1)
by Alice Coldbreath
I’m reading this book now and I like it so far. Glad to know someone else enjoyed it.
Lisa Kleypas is my favorite historical romance author! I also enjoy Kat Martin and my sister really likes Johanna Lindsey and Lorraine Heath. The Bride is also really good.
What about author Kate Tremayne with the Loveday series? I loved the book 'The Loveday Vendetta'. It's worth a read 👍❤
Love Mary Balogh. Bedwyn or “slightly” series is A+!
Thanks for charing all the " good stuff".....
Please, give Grace Callaway a try.....her books are very steamy.
Maybe you like her writing
I LOVE Julie Garwood. If you love The Bride, then you NEED to read The Wedding. It kinda goes together with The Bride I feel.
Anyway I've read most of Julie G's books, and it is RARE to find one that isn't amazing - I think I only read one or two that wasn't up to par, imo 🙂
I can't wait to read more. I am very impressed so far.
Also.. I feel like I wanna recommend one of my favorite authors to you, I've never heard you talk about her or one of her books - and her backtrack is just HUGE.. Christi Caldwell... I am telling you Jenn. You will be thanking me 😊 She is an amazing author. I would personally start with her "Heart of a Duke" series - first book is "For love of the Duke" ... I am not gonna describe how awesome this series is, just TRY IT OUT - I beg you.. Christi is SO underrated and she is SO GOOD 😍🙂 Hope you'll give her a go 😘
Added to TBR!!!!
The Bride. The Wedding. Are forever on my keeper shelf. Fantastic!
@@LivaLafay I just ordered the first 3 in the series. You convinced me. Have never read C Caldwell. Thanks for sharing. Always on the lookout for some wonderful stories.
One great historical romance author, in my opinion, is Alice Coldbreath. Her books are amazing.
Mary balogh has another Christmas book called Christmas Bride if you are interested
Is the book steamy?
Devils cub is my favirote georgette Heyer. Please please try it. Its so good but no one reads it.
If you haven’t already you need to check out Jess Michaels Everything Forbidden series :).
I will add it to the list!
If Lisa Kleypas is "Steamy" then Jess Michaels is a "Volcano"!
If you want a "global wildfire catastrophe" level - Read " Sin" and "Black Silk" by Sharon Page.....🔥
i found ths video so entertaining
I love Julie Garwood books. She is a fantastic author
If you like western romance historicals try Nora Hess she is good
Try Julie Ann long
My son was born with both feet turned inward. Bilateral club feet. I MUST read four nights with the duke. I identify with the heroine and her relationship with her nephew already.
Can I just ask how on earth you got hardcovers for Julia Quinn's entire Bridgerton series? I'm so jealous! 😍😭
I started before the TV show come out!!! Haha! I found half of them just one at a time at Thrift stores and then the other 4 I found on Thrift books and ebay. 6 months before the show. So... I knew they were gonna blow up. Haha!
@@TheBookRefuge SMART. 😩 I'm regretting not keeping all my paperbacks.
I really like this video but I just have to point out that Sir Horace in The Grand Sophy wants his daughter married because he is about to be married himself. His future wife doesn't want to be blamed or be responsible for someone like Sophy. She's great, but also to note is that there are a couple racist/prejudice comments about her as she's from Spain and for another character too. Good to know, still a wonderful read. Sir Horace is super selfish to be sure but he never feels bad about it.
This is the brilliant series
Julia Quinn will her books are Néflix
I would love a list for historical romance with tragedy like PTSD, disability , loss of child something like that. Just like when they rely on one another and help each other
the is series called 'The survivors Club' i think by Lorriane Heath
Outlander series
I loved The Grand Sophie ❤
Karyn Monk The witch and the Warrior
🥳
That Lorraine Heath series sounds so interesting!!
It was my first by her and I loved it
She’s amazing
I know this video is a year old, but just had to say I haven't found a historical romance writer as consistently fantastic as Judith McNaught. Her writing sucks you into her stories from the beginning. Once and Always is my favorite #VictoriaandJason
Love your videos, your CZcams Channel and you!!! Maybe you could lay your books on a small easel so newbies can write down the author name and title easier, all that motion makes one queazy
All my newer videos have book listed in the description. 🥰🥰 This video is very old.
@@TheBookRefuge thank u so much I had to search CZcams to find where to find LOL THE little arrow that takes me to the description. Thanks so much for all the info in the description of the newer videos. I am learning at 66 years old.
My TBR list just got very long...
This I understand. Happens to me way too often.
Waooooo
You just lost me with Julia Quinn. I think that Julia writes her books for teenagers. In her bio she talks about the Duke and I was written while she was in High School I did n't read anything she wrote until the series came out but I would never read anything again
I mean that's fair. I say any time I talk about JQ that I started reading her when I was 15. So... that fits your theory. I've been reading her for over half my life and I am nostalgic for her books.
This can also make her a good HR author for beginners. Doesn't make her bad. Everyone has to start somewhere. Also, in my opinion, she has books way better than Bridgerton.
AND, she never wrote a book until college. Her first book was Splendid which was before Bridgerton so.. not sure where you heard HS.
Jajajaja
