  • Depending on sources, between 500,000 and 800,000 women of the Soviet Union served in the armed forces during the Great Patriotic War. Many would serve as infantry and tank crew, as well as medics and signalers, mortar operators and more, with 95 women named Heroes of the Soviet Union. READ MORE:

    Lovely as usual. I remember Mr Blobby and I tell you what I still have nightmares of the repetitive Barney the education purple dinosaur.

    A great choice of colours.They really pop with the high light technologies you have used and what a nice figure too.👍

    I had wondered how to paint this camouflage and you've answered my questions! I need to get the Quick Shade Mixing Medium as it looks much better diluting the Strong Tone. Thanks for sharing this.

    Very nice. I have a squad + of scouts and snipers for my soviets that need some quality work like this. Thanks for the tutorial. Also have to look into Bad Squiddo. I haven't heard of them until now.

    Great stuff mate! You down for any of the upcoming Stargrave kits? Anything from there you're really itching to paint up?

      I've gone in on the three box set that North Star is offering, so when they're released I'll have a little of everything. Very keen to see how modular the kits are!

      @@SonicSledgehammerStudio Same here. What I really appreciate is how none of the arms seem unique to a particular kit. The weapons are but they all have the same style of sleeve with elbow pad, hand terminal on left wrist etc. I think the heads/necks all share the same peg and socket shape too, so with the arms and weapons it could be the most cross compatible plastic Nstar kit to date. Look forward to seeing what you do with them. I just want my space monkey man with a sniper rifle and I'm content.

    Anyone interested in the subject of women in the Soviet military in WW2 need to read "The Unwomanly face of War" by Svetlana Alexievich. Honestly everyone should read it regardless of interest. Great mini as always!

    Looks so cool! Not sure I like these general army themed minis, I'll stay with something less realistic for the moment, but I can appreciate them for what they are and love the video tutorial painting techniques.

    In lieu of the strong tone mix you used, I use Agrax Earthshade for the same purposes. I'm not at all questioning your technique/choice of wash, I'm just curious as how they differ? I feel I'm missing something here 😄 Great vid as always!

    • @SonicSledgehammerStudio
      @SonicSledgehammerStudio  Před 2 lety

      Mostly it's in how they settle. Strong Tone requires a little more attention to get it to sit where you'd like, whereas Agrax you can just bucket it on for the most part. The effects are similar, though I tend to find with the medium thinning the Strong Tone, you get a slightly more pronounced shading effect.
