  • When you know what you are saying yes to, saying no to distractions becomes much easier. We don't want to be sleepwalking past our core values. Jay Papasan's primary goal is to help viewers gain clarity around their true priority. It's all about time -- connect your someday to today to make stress and regrets a thing of the past. Jay’s curiosity about why some people get extraordinary outcomes and others do not helped fuel his work with Gary Keller to write The ONE Thing, which has sold over 1.3 million copies worldwide, has garnered more than 400 appearances on national bestseller lists (including #1 on The Wall Street Journal’s hardcover business list), and has been translated into 30 different languages. Whether working with his wife Wendy to raise funds for Heroes for Children, inspiring others to take action toward their goals, or aiming to be the best husband and father he can be, Jay strives to remain awake and aware - with clarity and focus on his values and goals. Jay Papasan is a bestselling author and Vice President and Executive Editor at Keller Williams Realty, Inc., the world’s largest real estate company. He is also co-owner, alongside his wife Wendy, of Papasan Properties Group. They live in Austin, Texas with their two kids, Gus and Veronica, and their dog, Taco. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Jay Papasan on Ted Talks...how cool is this?!! Fastest way to finish a maze ...start at the end and work backward to the start, yeah...cheat...aka Goal Setting to the Now.. Thank you for that perspective Jay!

This is one of the best Tedx talks I’ve seen. I think everybody is overwhelmed in some way, and what he said is very important for everybody to consider. We can’t have it all, maybe having it all is not what will make us happy. It’s a balance of priorities that is being put in a way to not make us in misery and actually enjoying them. That mental clarity, progression, knowing you’re on the right path give peacefulness! Some things are enough for now to make you go the next step in ease, that doesn’t make the other choices bad, but it makes what you choose is the best for you at this point. To avoid the loops of overthinking, perfectionism and procrastination. I think this mindset can help us Try things and not complicate what we try to do and get overwhelmed by it, and it’s really a good mindset towards what we dream of and love to do, to be able to feel some genuine sense of happiness in our lives. By finding ourselves through building our paths towards our dreams. Thanks. 👌👏

Jay - you did this year! Authentic and such an important message everyone can learn from. This only touches on your book that everyone should read and learn from. It's always on my bedside table. Honoured to know you. I will be sharing this with my community and I know it will inspire them as much as it has inspired me.

setting long term goal first, I had to drive from Nebraska to Georgia and I used google maps which you set your someday goal, it broke it up into small step and the google maps showed the next point and before I knew it I was they by obtaining each point. I realized that if I would have only focused on the final destination it seamed like a long road.
