In the case of Edgar Berlanga, starting his career off with 16 consecutive first-round knockouts set expectations that were always going to be hard to live up to. Edgar entered a fight with Roamer Alexis Angulo on Jun 11, 2022 (11 p.m. ET, ESPN) on a run of three decision victories that have taken some of the shine off of Berlanga's hype.
Berlanga's (19-0, 16 KO) knockout streak tied the all-time record in boxing and set the expectation that he would be a vicious finisher who would continue making quick work of any and all opponents until he reached the world title level.

Berlanga was moving backwards way too often to get a win. The fight looked like a draw. Berlanga is way too slow and not strong enough for the champions in his weight class.

Berlanga is a big stiff. He hits hard but otherwise that’s it. Poor footwork, bad head movement, questionable conditioning and he loads up on single punches that expend his energy rather than boxing in a natural and free flowing way…. Thats basically all of the cardinal sins of boxing right there. Other than that, not much to improve on 😂.
To think that this guy is ever going to be a title holder among any of the recognized boxing organizations is a stretch.
not a good fight for either fighter! but I did see berlanga moving his gloves more than angulo, so for that berlanga wins the fight! not impressive win! but a win is a win! didn't really see body shot! you can't knock out everyone out with just one shot sometimes you have to set up the knock out punch!

I don't know who's training belanga? he's only 25 years old, with a record of now 20-0-16 ko's, while angulo is 38 years old, with a record now 27-3-23 ko's, I would think belanga should have handle this guy quick! but something seems wrong with belanga, angula for his age moved pretty good, but his shot are to slow for this division, it's only 168 lbs! I see some dirty play on belanga's part, which to me is cheap shots! I don't like that! if anything belanga won by the smallest margin ever! it could've gone either way! and it would be OK! I think belanga got shocked with the marcel fight! hasn't got over that! has lost a lot of confidence in his boxing ability! guy has to get his head together! he still won that fight, he has to understand that the best every now and then get's knock down! but what make a true champion in times of adversity is what they do when they get back up? he did it marcel, he won! get over it! and move on, you won!
