Well it might not be a pretty gallery tank, but it holds water and does the job. 👍
That's right! I call it a "warehouse tank".
Looking great Brother !👍😀 I have to do a resealing for my 55 gallon tank.
Don't skimp on the razor blades, my friend. Sharp blades...that's the key! Let us know how it goes!
Hi, I have a 300 gallon tank cracked in the back. How do I repair it? Do I have to take the whole glass out?
Hello great job my name is Shirley. I’m trying to fix my 300 gallon tank. I really love it. They cracked it bringing in the back of it is cracked. How do I fix it or can you fix it?
I’m actually in the process of fixing my glass fish tank the same way. I’m finding out that GE does not manufacture this particular plastic silicone any longer. Home Depot sells a brand that seems to be similar. Do you have any insight on that?
Looking good! I just finished resealing 50gal - holds water for 3 days already:) The only problem is that I bought white silicone (which I realized after opening the tube obviously). Not too prettybut does the job ;)
Congrats on the reseal. Even white, it still beats a leaky aquarium!
Hello, do you know anyone who repair 300 gallon tanks?
Cool job as long as they hold water it's a task u can always hide the ugly spots but it's a 75g great job
Thanks Cooper! Glad you came by.
Are these tanks still holding water?
Yeah, they are.
Giving some thought to aquarium repair, or even fashioning new tanks, I think it would be worth the effort to combine the advantages of a framed tank with a silicone all glass tank. First, check this angle bar material: www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-1-in-x-96-in-Aluminum-Angle-Bar-with-1-20-in-Thick-802587/204273981 so you can envision what I'm talking about. I wonder if these angle bars are made in plastic also.
Using strips the length of a normal glass/silicone joint would combine the strength of a glass/silicone with a frame/glass seal. Like wearing a belt and suspenders. It would especially reassure me if I was repairing a tank and had to excavate silicone out of old seams.
So, if I am understanding this correctly, you would use the aluminum angle bar to brace the seams on the aquarium on the outside while resealing the tank on the inside? So, it would end up looking kind-a like an old fashioned metal framed tank. Is that right? Sounds AWESOME!!!
Correct-a-mundo.
As a kid, I used to repair the old framed tanks at the rate of 50 cents a gallon. Referred to me by local pet stores, it's how I afforded the hobby.
I mowed lawns...I like your idea better!
I'm trying to find out how to repair the bridge piece in the center of the top of the tank
Here's my best suggestion. I've not tired it, so I don't know if it is toxic when cured, but it is very strong stuff. www.amazon.com/FiberFix-38201-Repair-Wrap-Tape/dp/B00B297WDG
Glass and acrylic don't normally bond well together. Try getting silicon of glass, its a nightmare. Getting silicon of acrylic is easy. Fingers crossed they last.
You are right about that! I'm hoping that this silicone will work better since it is supposedly formulated to seal to plastics. We'll see!
