Amazing stuff from a group in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Unlike most variety shows of the era, Johnny Cash insisted on live-taped performances in the famous Ryman Auditorium as apposed to lip syncing (although applause was often canned-supplemented). As a result, there were only about three or four American TV shows that recorded live audio performances saved to history for posterity after Ed Sullivan was unexpectedly cancelled in 1968: The Johnny Cash Show, Don Kershner's Rock Concert and Midnight Special. And while Ed Sullivan aired live. he also permitted lip sync'd performances depending on the acts.
