    The timeline reached 60mph in a video editor in 0.56 secs and it concluded 0.66 secs at 67mph not 60. if you pause at 0:17 it reported 0.66 secs when the timer is saying 0.56 so that's why it got rounded down to 0.6s. Don't think the GPS could refresh quick enough and its known against time slips to slightly over read due to its update rate of 18 times a second as its using GPS rather than using a beam of light at proper drag strips which can update at the speed of light. But drag strips dont wanna participate with me so this is what we have. for the record its ranked number one on the app for 0-60 times by some margin. I havent posted it. Should I? Is it fair? Watching a recent video from The Slow Mo Guys where they recorded a shaped charge exploding at 5 million FPS, they worked out the gravity during that initial acceleration of the copper cone was 25 million G...!
    Someone with some numbers skills must be able to work out the max G force your quad went through during that 0.6 seconds.

    • @PierreAlainMaire
      @PierreAlainMaire Před 2 lety +3

      Gauge on video (and chart at 0:22) show the peak acceleration around 5 G. Mean acceleration during the 0-60 is calculated around 4 G with the 0.66s time, around 5 G with the 0.56s that Andy guessed in the video timeframe (that would mean the max acceleration would be way over 5G). Like a jet from a aircraft carrier.

This was really just a test to see if the concept worked so It can be improved on in many ways to get more data if needed

    i wonder if a bigger quad running 6S2P would be more suited (7" to push the weight quicker) so the voltage sag isnt as bad for a full pull. i really wonder what a quartermile dragster quad would look like.

    • @AndyRCchannel
      @AndyRCchannel  Před 2 lety +1

      actually going smaller would be faster. bigger props cause more drag and take longer to spin up. Only reason i used 5 inch was because it could carry the weight of the timing gear. as it uses bluetooth to connect to a phone, to do the quarter mile the phone also has to be on board the quad. I did do a quarter mile run and it matched the quarter of an f1 car. The extra weight of the phone slowed it down a lot and also I did not use launch control so ill have another go at that. That video can be found here: czcams.com/video/N4oZjLm1jqc/video.html

      @dihler55 Před 2 lety

      @@AndyRCchannel I do know that smaller props net a higher top speed. Maybe there is a way to do 2 batteries in parallel on a 5" because that woudl allow oyu to run full throttle with way less sag as the load is split between the 2 batteries. and my thinking is that 5" might be too weak for that.

      it could do better without a camera. But I intend to beat quarter mile runs which it needs a camera. the draggy does not have an accelerometer on board only gps so things like g force and acceleration figures are not as accurate as the speed. The 0-60 also happened so fast the graph is massively zoomed in, so small fluctuations look much bigger on a small scale

       @Jon yeah I know what how velocity and acceleration are connected in each other. Still doesn't answer why acceleration changed so strangely. Pretty sure stick command was 100% throttle all the time. Might have something to with propeller efficiency in relation to airspeed but still I 1g - 4g variation surprises me. Taking into account that RPM probably was around 60 000 flow speed near prop blades was pretty much the same all the time.
      complicated battery chemistry might be the cause..
