  • Watch this queen ant lay eggs, raise her young and create a colony in 150 days! Initially I wasn't very excited about keeping this species, but after successfully raising a sizeable colony I realised that they are actually really cool. Stick around for future videos as the colony is pretty huge now.

    Personally would love to keep bull ants for the rest of my life as their vision and intelligence are so marvelous. I've only ever seen them twice in the wild here in Sydney and both times they seemed so curious and interactive with me. No doubt I would keep them for life😎

    Q. i would keep camponotus due to the diversity and weird tendences like tandem running, also they are really visually appealing (big and colourful) and are also relatively easy to care for with usually passive behavior

    Camponotus all the way, they come in so many different shapes, sizes and colours while sporting so much unquie behavour throughout their genus such as tandem running, polymorphism, the size of some repletes. They are just so stunning of an ant genus. Plus the size of them makes them wonders to be enjoyed

    I would keep Camponotus if I could only keep one genus, so many ants are beautiful however the variance in colour between the species of camponotus and the different casts of workers gives them such great personality. Plus their size allows for great viewing of tiny details that would go unnoticed with many other species

    I'd have to go for iridomyrmex, I had a colony of meat ants a couple of years ago and they definitely kept me on my toes. I just love all the little quirks they have while still being crazy energetic and eating everything I put in their enclosure. I gave them away when school got a bit intense but i'm looking to get back into it, awesome to see you posting again btw.

    Carpender ants because they take a while to grow, which gives time to set up new nest for them. They are very easy to care for when being a beginner and veteran in ant keeping.

    Q: Camponotus definitely.
    they're easy to house and their population can increase rapidly. They are also harmless (except to the environment in some cases!)
    Being the largest genus of ant, they are very diverse with some looking stunning (eg. Camponotus pennsylvanicus).

    I'd keep camponotus as the only genus for the rest of my life since the genus camponotus has the largest amount of species compared with all other genus.
    Also the species of this genus are very variied. There are big ones, smaller ones, yellow ones, black ones, black ones with red pigmentation and many many more.

  • @thesmalllives
    @thesmalllives Před 5 měsíci +2

    Yes I am for Australia and my answer is probably the very popular answer: the Camponotus Genus. I like it because of its calm and curious personality, as well as the easy keeping generally speaking with that category of ants. Though it comes very close with other species I enjoy, like Iridomerymex Pupureus because of bold and territorial behaviour and all the Myrmecia ants for obvious reasons. My favourite is specifically banded sugar ants for their size and over all curious demeanour.
    PS: I hope I spelt all those names correctly.

    Well if I could only keep one species of ant it would definitely by myrmecia. They are solo hunters, (it is fun to watch them hunt live food), they are big in size, there are lots of different species and some that have rarely been documented or looked at ( it is cool discovering the ways the ants do things and being the first one to do so) and lastly almost all species are in Australia so it is like a special opportunity that not many people have.
