    Tetramorium bicarinatum ❤️ you can give her wild workers to kelp bolster her numbers. There super social. Lemme know if you have any questions as founding can be fiddly

    • @ant.invasion
      @ant.invasion  Před 2 lety

      Wow no way seriously?? I’ve often lifted plant pots in my kitchen and found heaps of workers and brood, how should I go about adding workers/brood, I’ve heard of putting them in the fridge yet how safe is that?

    • @Antymatters
      @Antymatters Před 2 lety +1

      You can place the workers and brood straight into the tube with no pre prep :) good chance your house really has 1 big colony :p the queen's come out to forage for protein mostly so if you caught them while hungry might explain the no eggs. Next time you find some workers and brood stick them in with her :)

    Yay, Ant Invasion in! No need to apologise for the short video Eli! Great content as always, and the regular new videos these days are a delight - couldn't ask for more. Actually, we could ask for more... There was a time long, long, long ago when your brother was going to set up his own ant CZcams channel too. Would you be good enough to remind him that we're all still waiting! :p

    Are you sure it is a Monomorium Pharaonis queen, because I thought they looked different, anyway good luck with her.

    • @ant.invasion
      @ant.invasion  Před 2 lety

      That’s a very good question, I did some research online and apparently they can often be misidentified, would you have any suggestions on similar species that it could be?

    • @kaurkalevik1295
      @kaurkalevik1295 Před 2 lety +2

      @@ant.invasion Not really but in my memory, the M.Pharaonis queens looked longer and had a bigger gaster, meanwhile this queen looks more like semi clastrual as it is very similar to my Myrmica queen in size and shape. So I am thinking that it is possibly some other Monomorium species or Tetramorium Bicarinatum. Of course I could very well be wrong and it actually is Monomorium Pharaonis.

    • @ant.invasion
      @ant.invasion  Před 2 lety +1

      Wow thank you guys!!! I just searched it up and looks basically identical, I think you guys hit the jackpot on this one I can’t thank you enough!!!

    • @kaurkalevik1295
      @kaurkalevik1295 Před 2 lety

      @@ant.invasion No worries, some ant species can be very similar so mistakes are understandable.

  • @antsofsydney
    @antsofsydney Před 2 lety +2

    Good luck with her! Monomorium are very fun to keep.
    Then again, she does sort of look like Tetramorium bicarinatum, which are about 10x cooler! They can inbreed, so the amount of queens in the colony increases over time.
    I've been looking for these things for ages, I want a colony so badly-

      @ant.invasion  Před 2 lety

      Yes dude!!! I believe they are tetramorium, considering I added 25 wild workers just today and the queen gladly accepted them!!!

    • @theleafyassassin108
      @theleafyassassin108 Před 2 lety

      Both of the mentioned species inbreed. The mean number of queens per colony in the wild of Monomorium pharaonis is over 100.
