I love the Frogs mechanical themes. Not only is it on flavor for frogs (“leap-frogging”), but it’s really neat to see it in Simic. I might make a Simic “blink” deck after this set.
I agree, also frogs are the cutest
3:55 'Look at the gold cards to remember the ten main creature types!"
*Shows a Badger for Red/Green* 😅
And a non-gold lizard
Badgers are just nature's raccoons.
what i find brilliant about the valiant mechanic is that it's in the colors of equipments
Yeah so is boros, what's surprising about that? Lmao
Not surprising, brilliant. Equipping triggers valiant.
@pascalsimioli6777 i didn't say it was surprising. i said it was brilliant because the colors that focus on equipment (which have activated abilities that target) get the ability that triggers on targeting by abilities (such as equipment)
Nadu is hypervaliant
Valiant is tedious. Magecraft shows that this kind of mechanic needn't be limited to once per turn. Nadu shows that WOTC didn't know this mechanic needed to be limited to once per turn. I'm getting sick and tired of these "variant" mechanics where the designers are just so confident that they need to slightly change an existing mechanic because they just KNOW BETTER than everyone who has ever designed a magic card before them. Hexproof is just soooo good, let's do Ward. They've had 20 years to playtest Hexproof, but NO! WOTC didn't bother to play a single game with the mechanic.
Squirrels, Mice and Rabbits are my favs thus far.
Most fun and refreshing set in years
I'm unreasonably excited for this set!
As someone who started playing in odyssee block, threshold is the mechanic I'm most excited for.
Looking forward to mice! I've always loved creature buffing with combat tricks and equipment and such, and Valiant is a cool variation on Heroic to make it work with equipment and mercenaries without being exploitable.
I'm most excited for Mice because of Secret of NIMH, but Squirrels are a close second because I love Camellia. I haven't been this excited for a set in such a long time and the end of the month feels so far away!!!
I'm all about that MOUSE life!
Been looking forward to playing birds ever since I started in commander. It's this set that finally is allowing birds to actually go off, just with Kastral alone. I'm really excited to finally get to mess around birds proper now.
I love the frog mechanics ! :D Thank you so much
OMG! Otters!!!! I've been wanting an otter commander for so long. Really looking forward making a deck full of 'em
Lizard Burn looks really fun!
Super excited for the entire set honestly.
I really like the look and feel of Bloomburrow so far. I am looking forward to drafting UB Rats and BG Squirrels.
Bats, Rats, and Frogs. Mostly because they're the animals I like most among the options.
...Although the otters are looking pretty cool too.
I can't wait to play white red little mice !😆😆
so excited to play otters since it seems very stormesc and I have been loving storm in modern
I've been waiting for the lizards since they teased Gev's illustration. The wait is killing me!
Ngl, kind of getting a little hyped for Rats and threshold. Graveyard mechanics are fun
This set looks so fun
I can’t wait to play Mice, Otters, and Rabbits! Really excited about this set.
Excited about the return of threshold
Honestly, I'm excited for nearly all of them!
This set's developers were GENIUSES!
@GoodMorningMagic will we be getting a 10 hints from you for the Commander decks? I always look forward to those videos!
SQUIRRELS!
Also, this set is looking so AWESOME!!! I'm super hyped!
This is probably going to be my favorite set of the year. I'm looking forward to getting those rats, raccoons, and squirrels.
1:10 This would have been the perfect spot for you to have previewed the Rakdos Lizard legend! You deserve your own preview card!
Otters and or birds!
otters are my favorite animal and izzet spell slinging is up there with my favorite architypes, I am going to make an otter deck in every format I swear
It will be otterly ridiculous!
@@magnusprime962 you're so right about that
Excited to try the UB and UG decks! GW isn't usually my favorite combination but I do love bunnies, dang.
Raccoons and Otters are definitely the most exciting playstyles for me in this set, hope we come back soon for Badgers, Moles, Possums, Skunks, Weasels, and 5 other creature types~
All of them! More changelings please!
I’m really glad that black “Bat” creature types got expanded, always felt like I was missing a classic black creature there.
I'm sooo excited for this set! Going by the terms of this set, I identify as an otter but I like the play style of the racoons.
Ral Zarek being an otter is a great joke
I am feeling I am an R person. I like the idea of raccoons, rats, and rabbits!
Lil goof: In the beginning spread of all 10 colour pairs, at 1:13 you put Hugs, Grisly Guardian there, despite the fact that he's a badger and the R/G creature type is Raccoons.
I haven't been this excited for a new set in many years, and not just because I'm blatant furry trash with nostalgia for Redwall. It just looks so fun! We haven't even seen the entire set yet but there are already at least four new commander decks I want to build, I'm thinking of putting together a set cube depending on how limited plays, and I'm definitely going to collect those gorgeous full-art lands. Plus the story is one of the best Magic's had in a good while (the first time in years I've wished there were still full-length tie-in novels instead of just the short stories, so these characters and this world could be explored more), Bloomburrow is looking to be a home-run all around. I hope this becomes a regularly recurring plane.
Awesome theme!
Not convinced by the mechanics yet.
I mean, Ral Zerrek was an otter before he planeswalked to Bloomburrow. =P
kinda surprised and feel it was a missed opportunity that Raccoons don't have Junk synergies
My wife has been waiting to build a frog deck for years, needing a bit more support. Her time has come!
Birds. I am working on a bird artwork only commander deck and while there are a few amount of cards to help out I will always welcome new bird art.
Will i have enough to make my Badger, badger, badger, mushroom, mushroom! deck?
Don't forget the one Snake
@Keck282 Oh, no worries, that's where cobra trap comes in! 😂
I would love to do bunny+ bird go wide.
For Limited I always go UW Wind Drakes + buffs so...but for casual play the rabbits and squirrels for sure!
I'm very interested in the otters and the raccoons, the former because they've discovered storm and the latter because they're in the process of discovering storm. We are swinging 20 things in one turn kids
Squirrels baby!!!
And I thought I could get away from Izzet spellslinging, but you just had to put otters in that colour. Blue Red for life I guess. :D
I absolutely love the Calamity Beast - Wildsear, Scouring Maw. Its ability to give enchantments cascade is just so simple yet powerful. I bought the Gruul precon for Bello but have quickly decided to build Gruul Enchantress/Exile with Wildspear instead.
I do have one vorthos type of question though... Why does Bello have a hedron on his staff? Does he actively use the Omen Paths to collect rare junk? or has Nahiri visited this plane before in the past and left one?
For anyone wondering what I am talking about, the face commander for the gruul precon, Bello, has a small hedron (The diamond shaped stones on Zedikar that helped lock the Eldrazi down) on the tip of his staff. He also has eyes that are glowing a similar cyan glow, almost like the hedrons do when connecting themselves in a grid.
*Chatterfang Laughs in Eldrazi killing glee!!!
All of them! But otter first and a Lot!
Finally some new Frogs!
Bro, this is unfair. I love horror, but the flavor of this set has made me most excited for it than any in a LONG time. WTF!
Hopefully the cards end up cheap so that you can enjoy both upcoming sets easily!
@@magnusprime962 As long as you don't want Three Tree City. That card is probably going to eat up 25% of the price of the set by itself, lol.
Waiting for a legendary lizard reveal...
I can't wait to cast those otters!!
Frogs are one of my favorite animals (with raccoons) and this time simic is doing something different so that's a plus. I'd go for otters as well but they're doing the typical izzet spellslinger.
I'm so excited for GU EtB values. After all these years, finally we got a GU theme that isn't ramp or graveyard matters.
Bats! Deep-Cavern Bat is already very strong - can't wait to add synergy on top of that.
Mice, rabbits and and frogs are my favourites so far.
This would have been the PERFECT set for Arlinn to return since she could have just been a wolf. I miss werewolves
The problem with that is that wolves are calamity beasts
Give me otters Gavin, OTTERS!!!!!!
I couldn't care less about mice but, Valiant 😮 hopefully I finally get a commander with heroic/valiant that doesn't suck
im exited to play temur raccoon frogs
Oviously I have to play squirrels. I have waited for squirrels to become a better tribal deck and now it might finally happen. 😮
Hugs is not a raccoon 😂
Maybe not. But are you REAL sure you want to throw him away if you get him?
I've always loved Boros, as well as critters, with mice being my favorite of the aesthetic from The Secret of Nimh, Desperaux, The Rescuers, ect. So this set is kind of a match made in heaven for me.
Tell whomever designed Flubs that I love them
squirrels are getting their own mana dork!?!?!?
100% excited to play otters, though the wife is more eager for rabbits.
Ah okay, so this did confirm that the blue-white mechanic for the set is giving flying to creatures without flying.
Question for you then, Gavin, what was the R&D decision making process in having this color pair be more supportive of other creature types rather than being self-encompassing in the way the other types/colors this set seem to be?
What I mean by this is that every other creature type attached to a color pair appears to be doing its own, slightly more generic thing that doesn’t stop it from being played with other colors, but does have its own niche that can work with only that type (frogs want to repeat etbs and have frog cards that bounce, bats wanting to gain or lose life and having bat cards that let them gain or lose life, etc) but birds obviously already have flying. So the bird mechanic of giving other things flying means that they’re more tuned to be used in a deck with other creature types that aren’t birds (or bats) than they are a dedicated bird list.
What was the reason this was the chosen mechanic? It’s fascinating to me because it typically seems like draft archetypes in 2 color sets like this are designed around staying in those colors, and typal sets, also like this (although this set seems more soft typal and encourages mixing of types a lot more than say Lorwynn or original Ixalan) seem to want to encourage playing mostly within that type for their draft archetype. Was it to promote crossing creature types? Was it a concern with 2 entire color pairs and types being comprised of flyers, as MaRo hinted at in his design article for this set on choosing creature types? Or was it something else?
I’d love to hear your thoughts, as an aspiring designer. Really looking forward to this set! Honestly probably the most hyped I’ve been for a set in years.
I’m really liking the mice so far, but I would like to try a bunch of them. The only ones I’m not really interested in are bats and rats.
Inifinte squirrels go 😂 I might have to make a squirrels deck
And I thought Ral was already cute as a human.
To be fair, a different type of cute.
I've always been a fan of Izzet spell decks, so Otters are top of list to try.
Mice seem like they will hurt in Standard so that’s why I want to be by their side 😊
I am SO excited to try and make otters work in limited, standard, and commander.
Otters are my favorite animal (particularly Asian small clawed river otters, but I love them all) and have been wanting another legendary otter since the type was introduced in Ikoria... And Lutri was immediately banned in the format.
Lutri should only be banned as a companion. I know it makes things a little more complicated, but if you take away the companion part the card is not ban-worthy at all.
@@magnusprime962 Exaaaaactllllyyy
RACCOON TIME RACCOON TIME
RACCOONS!!!!
Flavour-wise the raccoons seem to be all about salvaging things from the trash, so I'd have thought their mechanic would have something to do with artifacts in graveyards. Don't really see how Expend fits their theme.
Go otters go! 😂😂😂
I'm starting to think we are not getting a dancing racoon named Pedro, wich is a shame.
I want to play frogs!
Not a single beast so far, but Mice, Otters and... Coyotes?
Raccoons for sure!
Dimir Rats baby
Future conversations -
Oh are you playing Azorious Control or Gruul Aggro for the upcoming RCQ?
Oh do you mean bird control or Badger aggro?
Go birds
Mice rabbits squirrels and lizards are my favs. But what if your an animal and you leave bloomburrow
To my surprise, I'm most excited about frogs.
If your deck is full of birds there mechanic is off for the most part. You therefore have to run another tribe type with it which could mix it up in kinds of ways. Like I don't understand why this was a choice. If I'm running a bird deck I'm running all flyers for flyer synergy.
What about Value Boosters ?
I'm not really a blue red player, but they got Otters .... so Blue-Red
If a human becomes an animal when going into this plane what would happen if an animal goes to another plane?
I wanted hamsters!
but why is one (and seemingly only one) a badger?
Otters all the Way!
