This man here is our beloved bard, Troy, he is not only an excellent multi-instrumentalist musician, but he has a very funny and witty sense of humor. Now that Marko has left the band, Troy and Floor are the ones who give some rather peculiar introductions to their songs.

Hi again from a Nightwish Army fan. Troy Donockley became a full member of Nightwish at the same time that Floor became a full member, after the Wacken 2013 festival. He is a supremely talented multi-instrumentalist who plays the Uilleann pipes (Irish elbow pipes), the low whistle, the tin whistle, the acoustic and electric guitar (sometimes with an ebow), the bouzouki (an Irish large mandolin), and any hollow stick he can pick up and blow into. Now that Marko has retired from the band, Troy and Floor are filling in the gap vocally. I absolutely loved and enjoyed your reaction to, perhaps, my favorite Nightwish song. I told, Carol, my wife of 41 years, that if I pass away first, that I want this live video performance played at my memorial service. I am a firm believer in the New Orleans style of celebration of one's life upon passing, rather than having a pity party. Great job and keep the Nightwish reactions coming. By the way, Nightwish just introduced a song into their live setlist a week ago (mid-December 2022) that Tuomas wrote years ago as a tribute to his mother and father. Floor and Troy play this acoustic piece so beautifully. It is truly moving to watch, and even though this is a fan video from the Zurich 2022 concert, it is very good quality in both video and audio. Here's a link so you can check it out.

And here are the lyrics. Enjoy.
    I climbed off your back
    Not so long ago
    To a blooming meadow
To a path you'd made for the lightest feet
    Mother
I am always close to you
    I will be waving
    Every time you leave
    Oh, I am you
The care, the love, the memories
We are the story of one
    Father
I am always close to you
    I will be waving
    Every time you leave
    Oh, I am you
The care, the love, the memories
    You are forever in me
    This verse we wrote
    On a road home
    For you
    All this for you
    Our walk has been sublime
A soaring ride and gentle lead
You have the heart of a true friend
One day we'll meet on that shore again
    Mother
I am always close to you
    I will be waving
    Every time you leave
    Oh, I am you
The care, the love, the memories
We are the story of one
    Father
I am always close to you
    I will be waving
    Every time you leave
    Oh, I am you
The care, the love, the memories
    You are forever in me

Troy is the English multi-instrumentalist who sings the start in Welsh.
Being English, his dream as a young boy references Wembley Stadium, the biggest football stadium in the UK and home of the FA championships.
The song is based on Thoreau's Walden and is essentially about going back to a simple life in countryside of your own.

It absolutely has to do with Thoreau's book. It was inspired by it.
That is the 6th member, multi instrumentalist Troy Donockley( from the UK). He started playing with them in 2007, made permanent in 2013 with Floor. He is singing in Welsh at the start, and is playing the Uilleann (ill-en or ill-yen) pipes. The Irish bagpipes which uses a bellows squeezed by the elbow to inflate the bag. Also playing the Irish Low Whistle.

Troy brings some of my favorite sounds to Nightwish songs. The pipes and flute, some of the extra guitar stuff that he brings just creates added richness and depth and I think allows Tuomas to make even deeper compositions. He worked with the band off and on before Floor joined and they were added as full time members at the same time. Troy now does alot of the male vocal stuff with Marco having left last year.

The language sung by Troy at the beginning of the song is Welsh.
Troy Donockley "The Bard" (is an English composer and multi-instrumentalist most known for his playing of Uilleann pipes, tin whistle, vocals, guitar, keyboards, bass guitar, pump organ, bouzouki, cittern, bodhrán, mandola, harmonium, aerophone).
Donockley's first appearance with Nightwish was on their 2007 release, Dark Passion Play, as a guest musician, providing some whistles and pipes to the songs "The Islander", "Last of the Wilds", and "Meadows of Heaven". He also joined them on select shows of the subsequent tour and appeared in the music video for "The Islander". In 2011, Donockley appeared as a guest on Imaginaerum, providing whistles, pipes, and vocals. He joined Nightwish again on the Imaginaerum World Tour, and also appeared on the band's concert DVD 'Showtime, Storytime'. He also appears in the Imaginaerum film from 2012 as a stage illusionist.
Following the conclusion of the Imaginaerum World Tour, Donockley was made a full-time member of Nightwish in October 2013.
He provides the main vocals for Nightwish's single ‘Harvest’, released in 2020. This was unusual for the band, as main vocals were usually provided by Floor Jansen.
Troy plays the Uilleann pipes and the Low Whistle. Both are Irish instruments. It was a Nightwish concert at the sold out Wembley Arena.
You my good sir are absolutely right !!!!Walden is a book by Henry David Thoreau, chronically the two years he lived by Walden Pond, seeking solitude and a oneness with nature by living simply and creating an environment that suited him and no one else. He interacted with others, selling beans he had grown, but did not integrate with their institutions. The line in the song “ I do not wish to evade the world, yet I will forever build my own,” captures that nicely, I think.
So ,... there is actually nothing more to say....Nightwish is music for your soul!!!!
    NWSU 🤘😎🤘.

Most people talk about how wonderful Wacken 2013 was. But this concert, Wembley 2015, must have been really special. Starting with Shudder Before the Beautiful and Your's is an Empty Hope, later on Storytime, The Poet and the Pendulum, Ghost Love Score and ending in a spectacular way with The Greatest Show on Earth featuring Richard Dawkins. Songs like My Walden and Alpenglow are so uplifting, to keep it a bit lighter. I love to listen to the whole concert in a row. It's amazing.

    From Wikipedia:
Walden is a book by American transcendentalist writer Henry David Thoreau. The text is a reflection upon the author's simple living in natural surroundings. The work is part personal declaration of independence, social experiment, voyage of spiritual discovery, satire, and-to some degree-a manual for self-reliance.

Yeh Troy is a new member of the band, he was a session musician for a long while then became a full member . He adds extra elements to songs live with the inclusion of various stringed and wind instruments.
Also being an English lad and a football fan when he says playing Wembley tops seeing the wonders of the world I can believe him, football is almost a religion in the U.K. and in much of Europe. So for him getting to play that gig and say “Hello Wembley” following on from all the great bands that have played there, and whilst not the football grounds, having a similar relevance. It’s just a very huge moment for any Englishman to imagine being able to do, and he’s done it.
Comes across as a nice bloke too.

This song gets me every time and I think it's because it's so diverse and unique.......in the Tampere version Tuomas actually headbangs during this song which is just crazy but I love it when he headbangs....... And then like less than a minute later I almost have tears in my eyes because this song has such deep meaning but you are correct it is such an uplifting song and by the way someone will correct me on this but I think this song is a like a follow-up to I want my tears back..... Which makes this song that much better I think this is one of the most underrated songs that they sing ......

Playing the Uilleann pipes and low whistle was Troy Donockley from England also singing in Welsh at the start. You heard him play electric guitar with E-bow at the start and then Uilleann pipes in The Greatest Show On Earth, Bouzouki with E-bow on Sahara. And playing bouzouki conventionally on Dead Boys Poem to name a few. He had guested on Anette's albums but only became a full band member at the same time as Floor in 2013. And to here him play acoustic guitar and sing accompaniment in a duet with Floor try How's The Heart at Planet Rock. czcams.com/video/yYtkPpFYzOo/video.html
