    Appreciate this run down! There is definitely a lag of International hunt gear lists on the Tube.
    I personally bring an extra outfitter with me, just in case my first one falls through, I can still go hunting.

    Great stuff! I was happy to hear you packed your 14Lb rifle with you. S many people are sold on a light rifle in the mountains. I would like to hear how you prepared your fitness to do this hunt and of course how your father did as well.
    Thank you for this video it helps a lot.

    I think you booked through a travel agent/middle man right ? I just heard that it’s possible to deal directly with the landowner at the Hot Springs Camp, save a ton of $, and have a first class experience 🤷‍♂️

    Proof, carbon, fiber barrel will help with a little bit of weight though it might change the balance.

    big game hunters sleep on the waterfowl clothing for sedentary parts of a hunt. I have never been as cold in my life as in a duck blind, good duck gear is made to sit/stand still for hours in the coldest wee hours of the morning with piss poor weather.

      I'm sold after using the what is essentially the snow goose line in those bibs and jacket. There must be something to it! Because you're right, waterfown hunters aren't moving and need to be warm.

    Dumb question here, but on the wind meter, are you ever concerned, that maybe the wind might be different from where your at, as opposed to where your target is at?

    • @brady_j_miller
      @brady_j_miller Před 9 měsíci +1

      Not a dumb question at all. And that is 100% the thinking a person needs to have. What I do is practice a lot with the wind meter throughout the year to see what wind is doing at my side and what it looks like wind is doing at the target. You can do this by looking at the vegetation on the ground where you are at, then looking through binoculars and looking to see if the wind at the animal is doing the same. I also test myself by guessing what the wind is doing, and then I'll bust out the wind meter so I can start to get a feel for what certain wind values feel like on my face. So I was doing a lot of looking at the snow blowing next to me, and the snow blowing at the animal to help determine if the wind values I was getting in my Kestrel would be roughly the same at the animal. There's a lot of different ways to analyze wind, and it's always the hardest factor in taking a shot. Hope that helps!

    How exactly do you keep your drinking water from freezing when it's that cold? I love doing late season hunts up here in the northern plains, but I haven't found a good system of keeping my nalgene bottles from freezing in the sub-zero temps, even when I stuff them deep inside my pack.

      The internal mesh pockets on the blizzard parka work great for that

      Haha. More than one ounce is maybe needed when you take high elevation pills :) I laugh at that moment to this day! Cracks me up.

    That's actually the Blizzard Aerolite Parka, not the Kelvin Aerolite Jacket.

      I haven’t watched the video again myself after the first cut. But you could be right, not sure if I said it wrong or the text on the video they did wrong. The parka I used was the Blizzard Aerolite Parka. And the puffy is the Kelvin Down WS Hoody which isn’t made anymore. If it was me personally saying it wrong, I’m sorry. Sometimes my brain doesn’t work when I have so many items in my head so I get a few names mixed up.

      Brady's load was 90.5 grains of H1000. In 2023 he dropped it down to 90.4 grains, but yeah... still a lot of powder!
