    I think people tend to forget that when you pay a premium for a special edition, you are usually able sell it for premium as well. If you are new to Saab and are on a budget, you don't need a Turbo X to feel special. If you have the money and want one...absolutely get one! I would pay a premium for the boost gauge alone ha!

    Simply the Turbo X is the ultimate 9-3 to own. Period
    Personally, I've always desired the 9-5 version, the Aero Turbo 6 XWD. The most underrated over achieving super sedan Saab finished with. IMO

    Here 2 years later to say that yes, they went crazy up in value.
    In Europe they sell them MINIMUN at 17/18K, ones in prestige condition, low malage and manual transmision are sold around 25K or even up.
    Crazy shit fr

    Swede here. I just bought a 2008 Turbo X SportCombi with after-market Hirsch-tuning for the equivalent of $13.500. It was in great condition despite the 10200 miles on the odometer. And I got coupious amounts of owner documentation with it, practically from the whole life of the car. So I'm very happy! Been following you channel for some time being a fellow Saab-enthusiast. Keep up the great work!

    WELL, as the proud new owner of a 2009 9-3 Aero XWD, I have to still agree 100% with you. ;) I wanted a Turbox, but couldn't pass up on the one I found. Still want a Turbox someday.

    I recently picked up my own turbo-x about two month ago. It’s a lot like yours- full do88 intake upgrades, catless downpipe and midpipe, v-tuner stage 1 and coil overs. I picked it up with 82k miles from a private party for $13k. I was originally looking for a low mileage manual aero sportcombi, but those are really hard to find and my new car practically fell into my lap. I’d say it’s worth the price premium, and is a really enjoyable car.

    Here in Norway on the most known market site one for sale, 158000km sedan, automatic gearbox. Asking price almost 278000 Norwegian kroner, at current exchange rate about US$ 28000. No other cars in the same spec range, mostly 2wd diesels or 150hp petrol engines. Prices in the 2008 range Us$ 3000 and $9000, the latter for a 2008 diesel Wagon. So the TurboX has the premium price. Would I be willing to pay that kind of money? Hell no, not a chance, but the likelyhood that I would buy an NG-9.3 in general is close to zero.

    In regards to the steering wheel, you say it's specific to the 2.8? I have a 9-3 2.0 and that is exactly what my steering wheel looks like... and my dash, and my seats. Hell, the whole interior!
    I know my car was a custom ordered car when it was purchased in 2008. What year did the 2.8 make its debut?
    btw -- I really appreciate your videos! When I first started looking for videos dealing w/ my car, I was hard pressed to find anything on a Saab 9-3, then your videos started popping up in my recommendations. Thank you for taking the time!

    • @AutoAutopsy
      @AutoAutopsy  Před 3 lety

      No, it's specific to the turbo X, not the 2.8. You most likely have the sport wheel, which is different. not as thick and supportive. glad you enjoy the content!

    Funny thing is
    I actually got one for only the price of an S60R. Sure, it's still got issues that need hammered out, but even though I bought it for around the price of an 05-06 Aero manual, it's an absolute dream, even though it scares shops
    (I like working on cars, but I have a very hands-on job and not enough time to wrench comfortably)

    Definitely worth the premium.
    I bought my 2010 2.0T XWD last year without knowing anything about Saabs for $6000.
    If I had known about the Turbo X I would have gone with that for maybe 4000 more.
    I do plan to get one some day.

    Yes they are worth it.
    I bought mine at 145000 kilometers for 16500€ and it's cheap for the French market.
    With every options, 19" wheels, sunroof, BOSE GPS...
    Also new rear train and serviced haldex...
    Just going in the car and start it makes me smile, especially with rear muffler delete and Vtune 0 😁

      The problem is, one really doesnt want to daily drive a turbo x in Finland with the wet and salty winter roads. But its such a great car, and also expensive to just keep sitting in the garage.

    I got my TurboX with 200.000 km for 9000€. Not a bad price but the car’s in need for some maintenance, most of them minor issues. I do agree this is a good buy, a limited edition of an already exclusive brand, and not a slow car btw. I nevertheless do think that these cars will only prevail in the USA once the support for service parts is over since you have more flexible laws when tinkering with a car. My expectations are that I should find a really good mechanic or try and solve my own issues at home, which is a pretty uncommon trend in Europe, so at one time, I’ll be obligued to withdraw the car

    Im a saab guy i love saab... i worked as a saab tech for 5 years at a saab dealer...and i HATE these cars... the 03 93ss with 2.0 6 speed was a nice car but when that 2.8 afterthought got jammed into the front of the car they caused alot of problems..same thing with the awd setup that came later it was all an after thought to me a traditional saab is 4cyl front wheel drive

      I’ve had mine for over two years and it’s been great, 190k miles too. The V6 + XWD is definitely a tight fit and more complex than a FWD 2.0, but I think it’s worth it personally

      Sorry, I probably should’ve clarified on that a bit more. I was just saying that the aero XWD has it for 2009 only I believe. As far as I know, not many other XWD cars had eLSD

  • @timrtfx
    @timrtfx Před 3 lety

    Yes it's more exclusive, but aside from the few cosmetic differences, these are pretty much just black Aero XWDs. I don't really think the examples you gave justify the price being higher than that of an Aero XWD, especially since both are extremely rare depending on the area you live in. I purchased an 08 Aero XWD a few weeks ago and it was only the second one I had seen in the past year in Quebec. The other one was a unfortunately clapped out high mileage rusty shitbox, so I guess I'm pretty lucky I found mine.
