    Without a shadow of a doubt, ENVE Composites are one of the world's leading manufacturers of carbon fibre components such as rims, complete wheelsets, cockpit parts, and more recently, frames. All of that long-standing expertise is headquartered in a modern facility in ENVE's world headquarters, located in Ogden, Utah, a little north of Salt Lake City. A truly beautiful area for more than just skiing!
    In this video, Jake Pantone, VP of Product & Consumer Experience, takes the Gravel Cyclist audience along for a comprehensive tour of the inside workings of ENVE. From base materials to rim construction, finishing, wheel building, frame building, paint, and extensive testing, this tour covers just about all of the operations under the roof of ENVE HQ.

    As a mechanical engineer, I'm geeking out. As an ENVE customer, this validates my complete trust in their products. Thanks for taking us in for a look!

    Impressive. The most comprehensive factory process tour of bicycle wheels construction I’ve seen. Well done 👍

      Thank you Alan. Jake deserves a ton of credit for the tour, and his extensive knowledge of all things ENVE.

    JOM, this was very cool, and exceptionally well done! THANKS so much. No idea how complicated the manufacturing of carbon rims were, this really showed that.

    Nice video. Are you running also over inflate test to see how much they stand for ? Zipp can go over 300 psi before it explode - What is normally enve range ? This could be interesting for all people that has the rim tape leaking for example. Thanks

      Hello, you need to ask ENVE this question, this video is not presented by ENVE. Thank you.

  • @hardmtnbiker
    @hardmtnbiker Před 3 lety

    I’ve been seriously considering buying the ENVE M640 rims. I don’t own carbon rims yet and always felt that they were to stiff for my hardtail Mtn bikes. Now that I have been going with wider rims, I’ve come to conclusion that wider rims with high volume tires pretty much negate the overly stiff rim feel.

  • @SnowShackboy

    Did I see that right, do they get their carbon fiber from Mitsubishi?

  • @alexandra4334

    Is that Carbon fiber sheets from Mitsubishi that I see?

  • @roadglide

    Great tour JOM. Nice job. Thank you. How much training do each of these Team Members get before being allowed to even touch any part of the build process and inspection process? Carbon lay up, paint and final wheel build? There is a tremendous amount of faith put into bicycle component manufacturing for your safety and why you defer to credible makers and shouldn’t cheapen out on garbage. Peace.

    • @GravelCyclist
      @GravelCyclist  Před 3 lety +2

      Good question about team members, but one I cannot really answer. I do understand many of the people involved with the carbon layup process that I could not film, have a decade or two of experience between them. Thanks as always for your kind words and encouragement.

    Does Enve make their handlebars, stems and seatpost in this factory or are those made in Asia?

    • @GravelCyclist
      @GravelCyclist  Před 3 lety +1

      I believe those are all made in-house, there was a components manufacturing area I was not allowed to record.
