- We're off to take a look around inside Blackpool Winter Gardens today... we're lucky to have been granted access for a special, slightly behind the scenes tour. Don't forget to SUBSCRIBE to our channel for more great content, including a walking tour around the outside of this building.
While the Winter Gardens is open for visitors to use the coffee shop, Gillows Bar and enjoy cinema films on show, it's not open to look around as it would normally be, where you can just wander around. And covid-safe procedures are in place at the entrance too, for a good visitor experience. We begin our look around inside at the Church Street entrance, going through the Floral Hall to explore just a few of this beautiful buildings many rooms and spaces, including a peak at the Spanish Suite.
Blackpool Winter Gardens covers a 6 acre site over 2 floors. Inside Blackpool Winter Gardens, the Opera House has a capacity of 2900 people. The Empress Ballroom another 3250 for concerts. The Olympia Exhibition Hall is 2600 square metres of space, last used for the Illuminasia attraction. Did you know that the Mazzei cafe is the site of the original building on the Winter Gardens complex? The Pavilion Theatre is one of the original buildings - and the oldest venue in the complex, built in 1878 as a concert hall. You can find out all about the history of the building on our Live Blackpool website. Just follow the link below.
The buildings of today were built between 1878 and 1939. More development is underway today, with the construction of the new Conference Centre. We'll look forward to being able to look around the inside of that when it's finished!

Thanks got lovely walk through Winter Gardens forgot how beautiful it is hope to be back in Blackpool next year missed it this year with the virus xx
Last time was 2009 been going there twice a year from 1990 to 2009 I would be still going there if it wasnât for my Iâll health we use to love it up there Phil. S wales
I went two years ago to see the darts
Last time I visited Winter Gardens was 50 years ago I was15 and we came to see Ken Dodd, the week after we (my Mam, Dad and brother along with my Auntie & Uncle & cousin) saw Jimmy Tarbuck. đ€Łđ€ŁThey have made a lovely job of restoring it to its former glory I hope to get back to Blackpool after this awful covit 19 is over. Lornađ·
Thanks for sharing!
IVE BEEN NOT IN A LONG TIME BUT WE ARE BEING SHOWED AROUND THIS MAGESTIC BUILDING BY A VERY YOUNG & FABULOUS WISH YOU WISH HERE TOUR GUIDE PERSON WHO IS WELL KNOWLEDGEABLE & WITH A VERY WARM YOUNG SMILE THAT MAKES ALL YOUR TROUBLES MELT AWAY.
We went to an exhibition at the winter Gardens about three years ago ,there was Mini Illuminations and there was a Chinese theme going on with lanterns and Lotus flowers and it was absolutely beautiful,
That was Illuminasia Jenny, Chinese lantern craft, and it was lovely
....I've been buying lots of old Blackpool postcards from e-bay...they're usually less than 2 or 3 pounds each - little slices of history with stamps , a datestamp , and messages from holidaymakers in 1905 to the 20's ! A few of them feature the Winter Gardens ....there's a luxurious 'Indian Lounge' ...and lots more exotic plants all over the place ! Do a search of e-bay for ''Old postcards - Blackpool's Winter Gardens'' , unless you already have some .
Funnily enough Steve, my own collection is pathetic. I have a tiny little box with a few oddments in it, which is really appalling, given what I do and how much I know! I have started collecting things and am always interested in more.
Many thanks for taking the time to show people who haven't had the chance to see this building and the ones like myself who have seen it but missed the detail you have shown us ,well done it's appreciated it's like having your own personal tour guide .
Our pleasure!
Well done Blackpool council and all the people who worked on that beautiful restoration youve done your selves proud its a special building and the diamond in the crown of Blackpool one of the most beautiful buildings in Britain Thanks for saving our heritage Blackpool council Regards
Isnât it lovely đ
@@visitfyldecoast Its fantastic
Wow magnificent the grandeur is amazing !
I remember when there was a huge play area with massive bouncy slides in the Winter Garden...almost as fun as Jungle Gyms.

Smashing video that shows the immense size of this beautiful building. Thanks very much, a great view!
Glad you enjoyed it
Wow what a beautiful building I should go and look at this on the 10th of October when I am on holiday in Blackpool
A unique gem in the many treasures of the North West UK. Wonderfully caring restoration. My first sight of the Baronial Hall. Outstanding!
Couldn't agree more!
I really enjoyed that tour, it is a beautiful building the baronial hall is amazing, lived in Blackpool most of my life but never knew how really lovely the inside of the Winter gardens really is.
You see, every video uncovers something new!
Great video so many good memories of great entertainers and shows that I saw in there brilliant place take care stay safe đ
Thanks đ
Really enjoyed this tour Jane , when they have had open days Iâve not been fit enough to go round and always been so disappointed to miss it . You have shown us round it great , even if Iâd gone Iâm sure would have missed a lot . I used to work next door at a jewellers ( not there now ) and still only saw a bit of it . Must admit to spending my youth in the Olympia ! Big thank you Jane .
Itâs a pleasure. When thereâs a proper open day I shall revisit again!
Wonderful to walk around with you and listen to your commentary. Thank you
My pleasure
I love your voice!! A brill detailed video thank you!
Thanks!
I remember as a child in the 70s riding on the yogi Bear ride I loved it I'm 55 now but would love to ride again
I've been to the Winter Gardens many times in childhood during the 1990's as a member of the George Formby Society. They have conferences there a few times a year. Not been there for years but this brings back lots of happy memories. Currently on lockdown miles away in sunny Bournemouth. We had a Winter Gardens in Bournemouth once upon a time, until they knocked it down in the early 2000's :-(
Bet they wish they hadn't now...
Winter gardens is looking good đ
Magnificent, I wish I had of gone inside. Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it
It's years since I was at the Winter Gardens, but what a fantastic building!
We agree!
I used to work there early eighties,I had an encounter with a ghost on the second floor of the opera House and no in one believed me,at night it comes alive in the dark it's very unusual atmosphere.Loved my time there it's an amazing building,it would take hours for a full tour
Iâve only seen shows at the Winter Gardens, that was years ago. I canât believe all the other facilities , I need to go to Specsavers lol.
But another brilliant video, everything explained in detail. I really enjoyed it.
Iâve been loads of times and the more you go the more you see! Glad you enjoyed it đ
So good to see that some investment has been carried out. Have visited many times whilst the Blackpool Magic Convention has been on and it needed a bit of careful maintenance. I am so glad this has been carried out and looking forward to visiting again. Nice video.
Thanks Allan,,it will be nice when we can do normal things again
Love the video
Never been but it looks beautiful place
Love to go in on a Sunday afternoon and watch Pineapple Jack and a few beers of course lol xx
Lovely place. Nice statue of Eric and Ernie
It really is! And did you know it's made by sculptor Graham Ibbeson, who hails from the same place as me? We had a lovely chat at the opening event.
Thank you so much for such a big surprise that most of your viewers and myself have been given in these winter garden gems. Are all room soon open to the public as its on my list of my next 60th birthday visit to this amazing seaside town. Keep safe and many thanks đđđđđđ
Our pleasure! I'm not sure that the building is open for wandering any time soon. Depends on what happens with Covid. If you use the cafe/bar/facilities you can go inside the main hall.
Iâve been there its massive!
used to go here a lot as a younger man. Amazing beautiful crazy architecture like vegas before vegas but with more class in opinion. Loved going here for arcade game exhibitions and the galleon bar. Great vid long may it live, every turn is like a new world! Needs some serious art world support or exhibitions for me it's like the north west Barbican.
Couldn't agree more!
Excellent. Audio + Video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Didn't realise that there is so much of Winter Gardens I hadn't seen... must remedy that!
You should!
Have only been in Winter Gardens once for illumansia.when on holiday the whole building is amazing
It is!

If you and your family enjoy Fleetwood Mac you must go and see the Rumours of Fleetwood Mac tribute band. They are playing this Tuesday 14th September at Opera house. The best concert I have ever seen!
Looks great never been top floor ive seen Morecambe and wise statue got pictures of it
It does!
All the times I've been to Blackpool I've never ever visited the Winter Gardens
always thought it was a shopping centre ,or mall if you're watching this from across the pond
Well now you know that when all this coronavirus business is over and you visit again, that you need to go in and take a look!
@@visitfyldecoast definitely will do
looks great doesnt it ive not been in there for years
HAPPY FRIDAY
Enjoyed your tour, thank you.
I've been there a couple of times to watch my daughter in Ballroom and Latin dancing competitions, but I hadn't seen it all before.
Do you recognise my profile pic?
Yes itâs the dome at night. Probably wouldnât have if youâd not given me a connection!
@@visitfyldecoast Spot on đ

Yes, Pineapple Jack were playing as I was there. I didn't linger because I didn't want CZcams to cosh me for copyright on music!
The cafe? What is that like can you buy beer inside the Winter Gardens.
I think it's licensed... the video takes you inside the Mazzei Cafe
Twice.. in Rebellion Festival, the best and biggest punk rock festival in the world.
why winter Gardens called the âfloral hellâ??
Because it was an originally an indoor garden for the Victorians to enjoy promenading when the weather was poor.

Thank you đđ»
So, what's the point of all these empty rooms?
They're not all empty rooms normally. They are all used for events and functions. Obviously they were built into the complex in its heyday - but even now it's a busy building when the world is a normal place.
In normal times do you know if it runs at a loss or does it help subsidise Council Tax?
@@AlanWinter Hi Alan, I don't know the answer to that - you'd have to ask Blackpool Council that one.
Lol why would you have been stumped if they said turn left or right? Strange comment
You've only recently joined us then Jacqui! I'm mildly dyslexic and 'similars' like left and right, north /south etc have me thinking hard!!
MR PE BODY'S PLAY PLACE B4 YOUR TIME GET AWAY YOUR ONLY 53 A YOUNG WIPPER SNAPPER AS WE SAY DOWN IN LOCKDOWN
